I am looking for information on Elizabeth Weinert Eckel born in Germany, married to Conrad Eckel and mother to Christoph Henry Eckel & Mary Eckel. I am not sure if they were married prior to leaving Germany. On the 1900 census, the Eckel family was living in Lower St. Clair Township (Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co, Pennsylvania). On this census, it indicates that Conrad is widowed. The only reason I know that this is Christoph's mother is because I just recently obtained his funeral book and it is listed in there. Any inforamtion that you may have to help fill in the blanks would be very helpful!

My father was Donald Livingston Weinert, he grew up in a town called Neustadt, Grey, Ontario, Canada. He was born in Kingston in May 1923. He is the son of Heinrich (Henry) Weinert(1881) and Estelle Livingston. Henry or Harry's father name was Johann Weinert born 1828 from Roessel, EP, Germany he married Henryetta Magdanz from Grus Province of Pommern, Konigreich, East Prussia. My father had a brother and two sisters. The brother Gordan died last year but his wife Vivan still lives in Toronto as does one daughter and son in law. The Johann Weinerts has a lot of children I do not know where all of them went but if you look on Ancestory my tree is pjw2010
Hi

My name is Anne Weinert and my great grandfather was Johann Weinert who was the brother of August Weinert. Johann and his wife settled in Ontario and had contact with August and their mother (who signed letters "Mother"). I would like to hear more about what your family knows. I also have cousin named Scott Weinert who is decended from another son of Johann. He has heard that the family is from Bavaria. If you are willing send me another message and we can exchange email addresses. Thx

My name is Scott Weinert. I am a great grandson of August Weinert. It is my understanding that his father, August, and 2 brothers came into Toronto by ship in approximately 1835 and that they came from Poland. It is also my understanding that they were a part of the German resettlement of parts of Poland and Czechoslovakia during the Napoleanic period (approximately 1800 - 1810)

My name is Scott Weinert. I am a grandson of Frank Weinert. Frank married Edith Palmer and they had 4 children and 16 grandchildren. Their oldest child, Harry, is my father. August did marry again and they had several children. Some of this family still live in the Portland, OR/St Helens OR area. My father and my aunt June Schoonover (Weinert) have more information on this.

It is my understanding that August's father was also named August and that he immigrated into Toronto, CA from Europe. 1 of the brothers stayed in Canada, while the other brothers immigrated to NE. It is also my understanding that 1 brother continued on to California and ending up in Australia. I have not been able to verify any of this brother's information...

Hello everyone! I am new in the realm of geneology, and am hitting a few brick walls without paying for a membership, LOL. I am seeking information on Albert Carl Weinert, my great-grandfather. He was married to Nana Bell Jaycox, whose DOB was March 31st, 1917. His mother's name was Mary Steirly, and according to my grandfather, they were German immigrants. If anyone has any information or ideas on what my next step should be, I would appreciate it greatly. Also, if any relatives are reading this, HELLO! Thanks!

Johann August Weinert in South Australia was the son of Christian and Anna Weinert nee Kobe. He was born in 1814 and married Johannes Donke in 1836.
In 1841 he travelled from Hamburg with his brothers Johann Dienegott and Treugott Johann to South Australia. With a few other families they began the township of Lobethal.
They never lived in Canada, however, This I know for a fact.

The Weinerts in Melbourne and Queensland are descended from this family and some if not all of the Sydney ones. I guess there have been other families come out over the years. There is still a strong Weinert presence in Lobethal, the town that they established.

I wonder what relation if any were the Canadian family. Our Weinerts came from Brucken Hausen in Posen (Prussia)- Wolstein province. Do you know where your Weinerts came from?

Regards
Deanne in Australia

I have in my possession a letter that one of his brother's wrote to him after a visit with another brother, August in Nebraska. It states that this brother is thinking about moving to Australia in about the right time frame as your inquiry. I will have to look up the brother's name, if you are interested. When I visited Australia in 2002, I was delighted to find Weinert's in phonebooks in Melbourne and Syndey, but did not have the time to try and contact anyone. Please contact me if you are still interested.

In answer to your question. When Amelia died, his sister was also widowed. He had 3 sons and she had a daughter and one or 2 sons. they combined forces so Minnie could help raise the kids while August supported all of them. He was assigned to move to Burns Oregon with no consideration of his obligations to Minnie and all the children. He could not support them there so he quit the ministry.

My grandmother, Eleanor Marie Weinert was the only child from the second marriage, but I have the second wife as Matelda Marie Foserg (spelling not confirmed I remember it as Fosberg). My grandmother and my mother told me stories of her growing up with 3 older brothers. Eleanor married Ray Noland Cather, had first son, Robert Ray (died as baby), then second son,August Edlbert Cather, (died in Navy leaving 2 sons), Doug and Bert. then my mother Dorothy Jean (Wilks) still living. I have more details, if you want. Someone on the Weinert side has done a lot of research, maybe you? I attended a couple of the Weinert Family reunions from the August line. Some where I have hardcopies of that line going a few generations back. mailto:srwilks@molalla.net

I am Konrad Weinert's grandson Erich. My father,Erich Sr. was one of the youngest of Konrad and Viola's children. All I know of Konrad is that he was born in Germany in 1900, came to America around 1913 and initially settled in the upper penninsula of Michigan where my father was born. Then a couple my fathers older brothers traveled to Wisconsin, sometime in the 40's and found some property near the Bruce area and then the rest of the family followed. That farm was in the Weinert family until around the late 1970's when my fathers older brother, Karsten moved his family to Iowa where they presently reside.

I recently bought a book entitled "Domestic Science- Valuable Recipes" compiled by Mrs. Nicholas Martin, assisted by the Ladies of St. Agnes Parish and their friends. Published 1907 for the benefit of St. Agnes Church in St. Louis, MO.

There are many recipes by Meta Weinert Martin, Mrs. Fred Weinert, Dorothy Weinert, and others. I guess this might be a 1907 version of a parish cookbook!

I believe this book would be treasured by a Weinert or Martin family member.

I found Nicholas (1880-1938) buried in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery with the following: John, Margaret, Rudolph, and Arthur Weinert; John, Adrienee, and Meta Martin;and her daughter Dorothy Martin Short, the wife of Elmer Short.

Please contact me if you have an interest in this very interesting family cookbook.

Kathy Wieland in St. Louis, MO
Kathy@familywesearch.com

Re: Jacob Weinert

My g grandfather Johann Weinert wasn't born until 1828. He immigrated from the German town of Roessel(we think). He died in Neustadt Ontario in 1905. So this may not be the same Jacob Weinert. A Jacob Weinert signed his papers when he entered the US in Philadelphia and my father always thought that this was his brother Jacob. But the number of Weinert's who came to this continent appears to be small so there must be some kind of connection. Let's work some more on family trees and I think that we will find some kind of connection.

I am the granddaughter of William Weinert. He had a brother named Fredrick(sp?). There parents were Vinzenz and Marie Weinert. My grandfather and his brothers came over from germany(bohemia) in 1914 with their mom. I hope I can be of help. email me if any more questions.
