Morris "Moische" Weintraub - Born in Mogilev, Russia

Hello: I'm trying to research my grandfather Morris Weintraub. He was born on 16 May 1886 in Mogilev, Russia (now Belarus). He emigrated to the United States from Kalush, Russia (now Ukraine). He was a baker. He arrived in the US on board the RMS Baltic on 14 Dec 1906. He married Ceila Levine and had six children, Lena, Samuel, David, Abraham Allen, Rose, and Rae. They lived in the Philadelphia area.

I have the Morris Weintraub family tree from there but don't know much about Morris's parents or potential brothers or sisters. According to posts online, Morris may have had two brothers....Jacob and Joesph but I can't confirm that. I don't think it's the same line. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers T.I. Weintraub

Ancestors of Samuel Weintraub b abt 1873/4 d 10/18/1957, Brooklyn, father Naphtali, mother Hinda Goldberg

Hi All--
Am working on my husband's gfather, Samuel Weintraub, b abt 1873/4 in Strigovitz Poland/ Austria. His wedding cert. states mother's name as Hinda Goldberg, and father as Neitan or Napthali Weintraub.
Here's where it gets confusing: his mother divorced (don't know when or where) and remarried a Mr. Zuckerman (who reportedly died in the camps). Hinda and Mr. Zuckernam gave Samuel a step-bro named Max Zuckerman and a step-sis named Hoodis Zuckerman. Samuel might have had a brother named Louis Weintraub. There might be other sibs named Sara and Wolf.
Samuel married Emma Weinstein in 1899 and they had 8 children, have those names if anyone is interested.
Would love to know more about Samuel's mother and birth father... or any other family connections.
Best to you and your hunt!
Diane in San Diego

Amelia Joseph or Eva Minnie Weintraub

I have an unusual situation with a name change in 1870's England.

Simon Jackson married Amelia Joseph, d/o Barnett Joseph 1874 Manchester, England. In the next few years, it seems her name morphed into Eva Minnie Weintraub. As far as I know Amelia did not die early, nor did Simon remarry to an Eva Minnie Weintraub. Birth records of their children reflect Amelia Jackson (nee Weintraub) as well as Eva Minnie.

The entire family emigrated to Boston. Eva Minnie Jackson died 1913, and her father is now listed as Joseph B. Weintraub.

What I think is unusual is that her name progression was from an Anglicized, assimilated name to a more Jewish sounding name for 19th c England.
Any insight is appreciated.

We meet again:
I saw your message on the ancestry board abt Aaron Weintraub.Since I wrote to you last, I have found out that Max(1863) had a brother by the name of Aaron and a brother who might be Samuel Israel or Israel and a sister Ida Hersberg.I am having problems with finding them and espectially Ida.
Can you give me some hints as to where to find them?
The birth date that you gave for Aaron seems like it could belong to my Aaron-but Aaron and Israel died in Illinois as did Max.
I wrote saying that the manifest of Max I found that he lived in Rumania so maybe the rest of the family moved from there to us.
Mollie and Philip were their parents.
Sounds as if we might be related.

Our Weintraub roots are in Romania. I am 3rd generation Philadelphia-born, but my great grandfather was born in Romania. Maybe he is the long lost brotber? Although, I recall my elderly aunt telling me that he was the sole survivior of a terrible fire in Romania, which claimed the life of his mother, Bella Dvora and her infant child. The father (Josl) had left her and moved to South America, I believe Argentina.

It has taken me amost three years to contact you but then I was thinking that my gparents were Max and Rosa Weintraub but lately I've been thinking that their names were something else such as Moisha and Rachel. What I'm trying to do is to see if they got married in New York(Manhattan) and so far I think it was in 1892 and so far in the grooms list I have found just one Max Weintraub which I found out was the wrong one.I found two Wolfs-no Rosa's and so I'm stuck again. The reason that I feel that Rosa was Rachel was because on some docs that I have received were in Rachels name
She died in 1934 and Max 1926.
I hope that we are related but if not,can we become friendx

finding my family

I am looking for my family. My father, Abram, came from Galatz, Roumania in 1906; he was almost two years old. His mother's name might have been Blima, who traveled with him to the USA. He married Lillian Curran in Pittsburg, PA. and moved to Los Angeles, CA, where their only child,Jack, was born. His brother, Bernie, died mysteriously, and his sister died at an early age. If you can help me find my history, I would love to hear from you.

Rose,
You've contacted me before, I do not believe our Weintraubs are the same. I don't have any list of names. My great grandmother was Rose Weintraub, she married Sam Zimmerman around 1916-17. They had 3 children: Frances, Shirley & Morris; all 3 are now gone.

Rose had 6 sisters, no brothers at all. I have no idea on their names & have never been able to locate the names or find them on any immigration site. I have been at this for about 8 years & have nothing new to add.

Sorry! Good luck.

Linda Banks
