Major Memorial Funeral Home is now Major Erickson and they have a lot of their old records. There could be some info there.

Was wondering if the Weitzel family is connected at all to the George and Katie Beisel family. They were also Germans from Russia and lived in Mason City. Found Lizzie Weitzel's name on a baptism certificate for my Great Uncle Alexander Beisel at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City.

Good luck with your search!!

Spellings over time have also merged into an anglo-saxon spelling of "Whitesell" but your earlier names probably would not have. Just something to think about.

Hi,
I too am looking for information about them, and Anna Sophronia (Fronich?). Catharine Weitzel and her mother are direct maternal ancestors of mine! :)

I am wondering who I should ask about them, being as I am lucky enough to find I live in a neighboring county! I added a picture to Catharine Weitzel, where she and Starr got married, in the Brick Reformed Church. If you have any idea who I might try and contact, look up, or visit about them, help me lead the way! :)

Feel free to send me a private message! Thanks,
Angela (Angie) Gunter
Greensboro, NC - Guilford County

Looking for any info on Weitzels from Frank, Russia

I am descended from Henrich(Henry) Weitzel born in 1864 in Frank, Saratov, Russia. I believe he had a brother named Conrad as per a ship register.

I would like to trace the line all the way back to the first settler in Frank. To find where in Germany they came from. I've seen documents that a Johann Georg Weitzel was family #11 in the First Settlers List of Frank. But I'm not sure if that's my relative. It seems many families moved between colonies and there are a couple Weitzels from Norka, etc. I don't think they're related to me.

I've also seen documents spelling the name Wetzel, Wettzel, and Weitzel for Johann. I would also like to get an accurate spelling for when I venture into Hesse Germany, if I am indeed related to him.

Thanks.

Hello my name is Tracy McNichols, formally Weitzel. I beleive that my grandfather was either Harry or Henry Weitzel. I don't know much about my Weitzel family because my father who name was, James Frederick Weitzel Sr., told me that his father dies when he was 5 yrs old in Pennsylvania. Not sure of what. My father has two sister and one brohter who names are, Lloyd Weitzel, Shirley Weitzel, Skeeter Weitzel. I have four sisters and one brother, whoes names are, Tammy, Tina, Tabitha, Tandy, and James Frederick Weitzel Jr. My brother has two children, Adreyanna and James Frederick Weitzel III. His son is the only direct son left to carry on the Weitzel name in our family. My sister Tina has a son Richard Wayne Weitzel also to carry on the name. If you have any more information it would be great to compare. Maybe we are related somehow.

Thank you for your help. I believe the Edmund Ader that you found is the correct Edmund. Perhaps he was farming the land for the ladies listed in the household. I will have to do further research to determine if there was any relationship between the families. Also, thank you for directing me to the Kentucky marriages. I hadn't even used that resource on Ancestry. There are so many databases anymore it is hard to keep track of them.

This is just a guess and maybe a wild goose. Was Edmond married to Elizabeth Golden? If so then I found him in 1860 in Richmond, Madison Co.,Kentucky. He is listed as Edmond Aders with wife Elizabeth, son James W., age 2 and son Albert 3 months. Also living with them are Martha Broughton 57,Catherine Golden 85, Dicy Golden 57. They live next to James S. Golden 56, and his family.

From what I have been told by other Andrews researchers is Levi and David were brothers and they married sisters. My great grandfather William and brother Edmond must have been farmed out to relatives. I have never located them in the 1850 census and, Edmond's obit states that his mother died when he was a baby. He was born in 1835. William's granddaughter wrote in her family history that they knew nothing of William's parents but, he had one sister Elizabeth who married a Fusselman and moved to Illnois. Descendants of David are the ones who told me that they believed Levi was the father of William,Edmond and Elizabeth. If only I could find William and Edmond in the 1850 census either in Indiana or Kentucky, I would be happy.

I afraid I have very little to add. From my notes I have that Elizabeth Anders Fusselman died 3 Nov 1911 in Adams Co.
Illinois and is buried in Shiloh cemetary Plainsville, Adams, Ill. I can only guess that Levi and Louisa are her parents because they seem to be at the same place at the same time. I also noticed that Elizabeth had a son named Daniel Levi and a daughter Louisa. Do you have anything on Levi's family? It seems he lived very close to a David and David A. Anders. Levi's Father and brother maybe? They live in Hendricks in 1830 and Addison in 1840.

I know this reply is almost two years later but, I am still researching Elizabeth Anders (Andrews)Fusselman. If she is indeed the daughter of Levi Anders (Andrews), her mother is Louisa Parish. According to her brother Edmond's obit, he was born in 1835, his mother died when he was a tiny baby and his father remarried. If Levi is the father of Elizabeth, William P. and Edmond then, the boys must have been farmed out to relatives or grand parents. I have never found either son in the 1850 census. I keep trying. I just read a news item from a 1914 Kokomo, IN paper where Martin Parish a relative had paid a visit to William's son, Frank Andrews living in Hemlock, a rural town in Howard County, IN. Have you found any more information? Sorry it took so long to answer.

According to a 1923 City Directory for Mason City, Iowa, there was a Conrad Weitzel (wife Elizabeth) living a 30 - 15th St. NE. There is another Elizabeth Weitzel listed. I believe her to be Conrad and Elizabeth's daughter. Her occupation is listed as, "Helper T S Delaware" She was boarding at 1603 North Pennsylvania. This would be a couple houses away from her parents. Conrad and Elizabeth are not listed in the next directory I have, which is for 1950. Hope this helps.

Hey Elaine,
My G Grandfather was Harry Weitzel, And my Grandfather
was Robert William Weitzel. My Grandfather had a son
name Kenton Lee Weitzel. My Uncle Lee was born in 1917.
I think that my Uncle Lee was born in Va.

But at the same time my Grandfather was haveing kids with my Grandmother in Maryland.

My Grandfather used two last names because he had two ladys
haveing kids with him at the same time. He use Weitzel
and DeHaven at the same time. But my Grandfather was born
as a Weitzel. And his father was Harry Weitzel That is all I got on his side of the family. My Grand dad was a real player with the ladys . He was a real card in his younger days.

I need to ask my Uncle Michael more about my Grandfather.
You see my Uncle Mike was a cop for Baltimore City for 43
years, So he would know more about my Grandfather then any
one. I do know that my Grandfather was in jail years ago.

I will be going back up to Baltimore in July maybe I can talk to my Uncle then.

Diane, I don't know if you still looking since this was posted five years ago but I just recently started on my family tree and William and Elizabeth are my gggrandparents. Their daughter, Emma is my ggrandmother, and she was married to my ggrandfather William R. Early who was born in Pike Co. in 1861. From my research I've found that Elizabeth Andrews spelled her last name "Anders" and I believe her father was Levi Anders(Andrews). Does this match what you have?

Bettyann, Thanks for your quick reply. I've found a long list of Fusselman's here on rootsweb especially one tree done by a member of the Probst/Brobst family that goes back to a Balthasar Vossellmann b.abt 1601. Do you have anything on Elizabeth Anders ancestors? I'm guessing that Levi Anders is her father by the fact that he was in the Shelby Co.IN 1830 census which is where Elizabeth was born and it showed that he had a daughter that would be Elizabeth's age. Also he appears in the 1850 census for Brown Co. IN which is where Elizabeth was married. Even though the 1850 census shows Levi's wifes name as Hellen, she is far too young to be Elizabeth's mother. In other databases I have found that a Levi Anders was married to Louisa Parrish and I believe this is Elizabeth's mother.
