Sheila, in my previous post I failed to thank you for your offer to share information on the Weldon family in Ontario. I, of course, would be very interested to learn about Sarah and Johnston Weldon's descendants there. and will very happy to pass on information about the Johnston side of the family. I look forward to your email contact.
Liz.

Thank you for your response, Sheila. Sarah Johnston (daughter of John Johnston and Ann Livingston), married Johnston Weldon. Both John Johnston and Johnston Weldon were land owners in Edenreagh, Termonamongan, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. I can give information on Sarah's siblings, Alexander (who stayed in Ireland) and Arthur, Elizabeth and Charles who migrated to Victoria, Australia in the 1850s.
Please email me at corrieel@bordernet.com.au
Liz.

My husband's mother was a Weldon. In her family tree are Johnston Weldon and Sarah Livingston. We live in Ontario Canada where some of the Weldons came. Johnston Weldon's place of residence was found in Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, 1848-1864 I have some info that I can share.

I had given up hope of getting a response to my 2008 posting, so thanks for your reply. Since then,I have found more about Sarah and Johnston Weldon and of their children born in Scotland and of moves to Ontario, Canada and USA. I have, as yet, not added much on that side to my Corrie Ancestry Public family tree. I, too am a g-g-grand-daughter of John and Anne Johnston. I would love to have more information on Johnston Weldon and, in turn, would be happy to give you information on the Johnston family if that interests you.
Please email me at corrieel@bordernet.com.au
Kind regards and thanks, Liz.

I am a great-great-granddaughter of Johnston and Ann; my great-grandfather was Johnston Weldon, born at 8 Swan St., Glasgow, in 1868. He was the last of the Weldon children and came to the U. S. as a young man. I have a number of details and photos, if you're interested.

My name is Samuel Weldon and I live in El Paso, TX. My great grand father was John W Weldon and I find him in 1860 in Pulaski County, AR and on the 1850/70/80 US census it said he came from GA but I've not been able to find any trace of him there. Have you taken a yDNA test and see if you can find any matches there. I've had my DNA tested and have several matches but very few weldon's and the Weldon's I have a match with aren't interested in genealogy.

My great grandfather was James Weldon, born about 1838. I have handwritten accounts that he was killed by indians in nothern New Mexico territory about 1870. My great grandmother, Elizabeth Wood Weldon was captured with her two children, Frank and Martha. About 1872 the US Cavalary showed up with them in Mora, New Mexico, Do you have any accounts of your James like this. I have not been able to link my James to any other Weldons.
My name is Richard Weldon and I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Jerry,
Just wanted to add my family details to the discussion. I am researching my WELDON roots without much success. My Grandfather Thomas Weldon b.13/11/1879 in Castletown North Meath. His father James Weldon married Ellen Nolan both b. circa 1835. Thomas had a brother James Weldon b.1876 who appears in the 1901 and 1911 Ireland census as a shopkeeper in Castletown. My grandfather Thomas came here to England in 1901 and then married.
Ann Passeri (nee Weldon)

Do you think if I went to Castletown in Ireland I would be able to find out more about my family or is it better to go to Dublin?

Have you had any success tracing this family? Similar situation here. I'm looking for Elida Weldon born somewhere in MA in 1804. She married Elisha Wadsworth who was from Stoughton, MA in 1829. Next on the census they show up in Saukville, WI (1855) and later Michigan (1870 in Georgetown, Ottawa Twp). Would love to find out more about Elida!

I double checked the tombstone in the Natchez City Cemetery for Catherine Wilkins in the same section with my Minerva Gordon Wilkins, wife of William Weldon Wilkins. The death date on the tombstone is indeed 1845. the four had been partially shaded so that in the photo it looked like 1815. I am certain this is Catherine Weldon Wilkins, dau of Isaac in the GA will and mother of William Weldon Wilkins above. I can't explain the different death date or tombstone in GA/AL, I wish someone working this line would contact me directly at nschuchs@dishmail.net

correction to my post re: Catherine Wilkins. My Catherine born 1786 Princess Anne Co, VA, died 1815 Natchez, MS per inscription on her gravestone. William and Catherine had a son William Weldon/Weldin Wilkins (documented in family Bible, b.January 1, 1813 in Carrollton, KY) The Isaac Weldon will from Jasper Co., GA is dated 1831. So obviously this Catherine Weldon Wilkins is NOT the person I am looking for but how strange to have such coincidence with name and married name. Does anyone have an explanation?
