This post is very old but i am looking into this same William J. Wesson as he is my ancestry. There is a William J. Wesson, age 24, that shows up in the 1860 census listed with Sarah wesson (widow of Luke Wesson mentioned in your post. However, that is interesting that he is not listed as an heir because on his death certificate, he lists his father as "William wesson" - not Luke Wesson...

Hello Bob, Your wife Winnie was kind enough to send my husband and I a draft of the John Weston Genealogy in 1999. I am currently making application to the DAR for membership based on the patriotic service of Nathaniel Weston (1737-1822).I am having a problem with documentation to prove lineage between my g-grandmother Lydia Weston-Norton and her parents. I can't seem to track down the 1850 census that includes her family. Any assistance you can offer will be appreciated. Also, has your research material been published and available for purchase? Thanks. Cecilia Sweeney-Ryan, Redding, CA

Yes, there are Wesson's living in Leland IL. The family farm which is still in family name was started in 1849. My name is Robert E Weston and now 83 yrs old. We are all related to Sir Hamo DE Weston who took the name by direction of King Henry II who mandated all men to have a second name. People took name of trade or name of land they lived on. Sir Hamo was born (ca) 1136 and died 1212 his wife died 1214. my aol is winweston, hope to hear from you. Bob

Hello, Janice, I am related to your husband. My brother Scott and I have researched the family extensively. We are descended from Ellen's older brother, William David Wesson. In fact, we have met Ellen's son Hugh Hester several times and visited with him and his wife in their home! They shared some information with us, but we have traced the Wesson and Willis lines back several generations. If you will let me know your email address, I can send you more information.<br>Lynn Wesson

I am glad to see others are also researching this line...but curiously, where were you able to obtain emigrant records/dates for the Nevis Merchant? I also have in some of my notes that Edward Wesson served in King Phillip's war as a Corp. under Capt. Samuel Mossley's company in 1675 (That would mean he was here the year before his arrival here via the Nevis Merchant.) I am interested in any info any of you have on this family. Our Wesson line goes: Edward Sr.&gt; William Wiley Sr.&gt;William Wiley Jr.&gt;Edward Jr.&gt; Claiborn &gt;Alexander Campbell &gt;Molly (who married my husband's Great Grandfather Robert P. Clemons).

Hello, I am reading to see if I could find any relatives and found my great great grandfathers name listed here. I am one of Walter Franklin "Frank" Wessons', son Clyde Nicolas Wessons', son Clyde "Buzz" Nicolas Wesson jr.s', twin daughters Courtney. We are out in California. My dad Buzz was born in Long Beach, California. He past away September 5, 2006 at 67yrs old. He had 2 stents put in 2yrs July 4, 2004. One colapsed and basically had a heart attack at home trimming trees in the backyard. Home with wife Vee and daughter inlaw Claudia, Drake's wife. There are four of us Garrett, Drake, Tiffany and Courtney. The Wesson name will be passed on through Garretts' two boys Tristan, Jordan and Drakes' son Manu Emanuel. I am engaged to marry a Churchill. I'd like to visit Grassmere, some day.
