Hi everyone. Clarence is my great grandfather, through Vi. I appreciate the first post as I didn't know Knute or Inger's/Ida's parents.
Also, does anyone know if Knute farmed near Marvin SD? I know he lived with Syvert in 1930 but not sure if they all farmed. I have a 1929 Plat book of that township and don't see a Westly anywhere.

Thank you, that would be very helpful. I don't have any information at all about Kermit's family. If his daughter would be willing to talk to me I would appreciate it! :) My e-mail is heather_wiese@yahoo.com

I am not related to your family, but rather my friend Ann was married to Kermit Westly. Sorry I cannot give you his parents names, his brother Stan lives in Sherwood Park Alberta.
I could get you in touch with Kermits daughter if you are interested. I know she goes to yearly family gatherings of the Christiansens and Westlys. Let me know if that will help you and I will get you her info...her name is Barbara. Kermit died of cancer a few years ago in B C.

I know this is like 2 years after you posted this, but if you are still on here, you have to be either Wayne or Steve, right? My grandma is Gladys (aka "Penny"). If you have any info about the Westlys I would appreciate it!

You should expect an email from Laura soon.
I hope you are able to find some of your family that are still alive when you get your heads together.
Doreen

Hello,

I'm not sure if you're both still on here, but I believe that the Clarence you are talking about was my Grandfather. He had retired from the railroad and lived in Trosky with my Grandmother. They had son's, Kurt, Conrad, Warner (my father), and daughters, Vi, Vange, and Gladys. I might have missed one but that's what I can remember at the moment.

My grandmother was Clara Westly Furness. Her youngest daughter Cleo is my mother. Clara also had a twin name Clarence that died at birth. I guess have some sibling not listed. My mother was very excited to hear that u had contacted me. She has lost touch with some of her cousins and would like to reconnect with them again. Kermit might know her or her sibling. My mom just lost her older brother Orland this year to cancer. Pearl and Albert have both passed away also. Not sure if Kermit knew them or not. Are u also related to us? Thanks so much for replying.

I am sitting here with Ann, who was married to Kermit Westly.
He was the son of Martin. Ann knows Selma and George.
George lived in Iowa, and Clarence worked for the railroad in Minnisota.
Ann attends the Westly/Christianson reunions quite regularily.
Martin and his family moved to Bawlf Alberta, Canada.
Ann says she has all the information at home, but she is visiting me from Calgary right now. She feels that their (kermit and Anns) daughter Barbara would be interested in exchanging info with you, she lives in New Westminister, British Columbia.
1876 WESTLY - COWLES jailhouse wedding news online

Hi,

I just posted an old newspaper article reporting the jailhouse wedding (yes, jailhouse) of Charley WESTLY to Cora COWLES. The couple was attended by several deputies. Other surnames mentioned include BANDY, SULLIVAN, BEAL, ROBINSON, and BARBER.
This was scanned from an original issue (NOT microfilm!) of the The Evening Bulletin newspaper (Montgomery, Alabama) dated February 18, 1876, and you can see it online here:

http://theoldentimes.com/westlycowles02181876montal.html

I hope it's helpful!

Barbara
http://theoldentimes.com/old_news_al.html
http://theoldentimes.com/marriages.htm
http://theoldentimes.com
