I am the great grand daughter (and namesake) of ELLEN ELIZABETH WEYMOUTH who married my great grandfather JOSEPH SMALL. I have a photo album of 29 tin types of Ellen's that I believe are SMALLS and/or WEYMOUTHS. I'd like to share these photos with someone in these lines.

Ellen
San Diego

Since we have had some posts about the Weymouth Family History book, I thought I would again mention that I would like to find a male Weymouth that can be linked to any of the Weymouths shown descending from Edward Weymouth. I am the volunteer administrator of the Weymouth Surname DNA Project run by Family Tree DNA. I am willing to pay for genealogical DNA testing for such a male Weymouth. If anyone knows someone who might be interested, please contact me at david@weymouths.com. Many thanks.
David Elliott Weymouth
My Mother whom I called Kitty is probably the Kate Sophronia who is mentioned in your entry, Kitty spoke of her Mother as Cynthia Folsom Burg. She spoke kindly of Charles Burg and of Copeland Burg, the artist. SHe often mentioned Blodgett and Folsom and Judge Weymouth of Mass. She communicataed with Ernestine, her sister in Mass.

Kitty Married my Father George Edgar Waggoner and I am the only child of that marriage as Kitty lost four children at birth. Kitty was extremely intelligent, worked at Hull House, also with Dr, MAria Montesorri in Conn and John Dewey. She was an educator, and known for her kindness and many services to those less fortunate. She died in 1986 in Los Angeles. George Waggoner died there in 1937.I was most fortunate indeed to have such parents.

I married Warren L. Hofhine in 1939; he died in 1983. We have three sons, Douglas S. RIchard A. and Bryan P. BEst wishes, Georgellen Hofhine

Does anyone have any information about this Sarah Weymouth who married Nathaniel Bartlett Doe in Rochester NH on 23 Mar 1786? I believe they had a daughter Sarah Jane. Nathaniel was married to a Mehitable ? by 1792, so Sarah must have died before 1792.

Job Weymouth's (Fitchburgh, MA) father Thomas of Crowcombe, Somerset, England?

Curious if anyone has any verification that Job Weymouth (b. about 1840) m. Mary Ann May (b. 1845 Atherington, England) is the son of Thomas Weymouth b. about 1796 (m. to Charlote), Crowcombe, Somerset, England, listed in the 1841 Census of England? Job came to the U.S. (Fitchburg, MA) about 1881. There is a Job listed as the youngest child (6 mo.) in that census, along with other children (Charlote, Thos, Henry, Elizabeth, and Charles).

One of his sons, Moses Weymouth Jr b 1804, m Fanny Crawford in 1823 in Clinton ME. If your guy was in York County all the time, don't think it's the same.
Here is what I have found to be your Weymouth chain. I couldn’t spend too much time, so most of the marriages are unknown, and I didn’t find people beyond James, b. about 1785.

Henry Scott Weymouth, b. 6 October 1914 in Gatun, Colon, Panama (the Canal Zone). Married Vivian Dixon. (I found a picture of Henry in the Army during WWII.)

James E. Weymouth, b. 1883 in Richmond, Virginia. Married Julie/Jessie B. _____ (perhaps Barksdale), b. 1891 in Cullen, Charlotte, VA.

James F. Weymouth, b. February, 1846 in Virginia. Married Jane A. _____ in 1874, b. Sep 1853 in VA.

James Weymouth, b. abt. 1801 in Virginia. Married Jane Murray, b. abt. 1806 in VA, on 19 June 1826 in Cumberland, VA.

James Weymouth, b. abt. 1785 and lived in Cumberland, VA.

I have all the sources and all the children of these families along with quite a bit of extra information, but it is too much to post here. If you send me your email address, I will send the full file to you.

David Elliott Weymouth
david@weymouths.com

PS: Don't forget to think about joining the Weymouth name DNA project. It may help tie up loose ends.

Weymouth/Waymouth name DNA project

The Weymouth/Waymouth name DNA project is still looking for new members and now is a great time to order DNA testing from Family Tree DNA. Family Tree DNA has announced temporary special pricing that is significantly below their standard rates. Male Weymouths are invited to be tested and to join the project. More project information can be found at:
http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Weymouth

Here is FTDNA’s sale announcement:
-------------------------------------------------------
Last summer we offered a pricing special that was the most successful offering of its type in our company history. Project administrators got behind the recruitment efforts and for those that did, their projects grew and our database grew, so we'd like to offer a summer special again.
Here are the details:
Y-DNA37 for $119 (Regular price would be $149)
Y-DNA67 for $199 (Regular price would be $239)
Y-DNA37+mtDNA for $159 (Combined test would cost $238)
Bypass the Y-DNA12 and Y-DNA25, and get the best Genealogy tests on the market!
The promotion will start June 5 and will end June 25. Kits need to be paid for by June 30, 2010.
-------------------------------------------------
If you know a male Weymouth who might be interested in furthering their genealogical research using the most comprehensive testing available, please pass along this message.
Many thanks for replying Alan. This is not the first time I have had a reply some years after a posting!!

Thanks too for the links - I will certainly have a look.

These are the notes I have:
Married 11 Oct 1708 St Erth Phillimore; Ann 'of Penrin' IGI says Penzance, opc says Ponvenrine. I cannot find baptism. Children that I have are: James 1709 - 1781 m Joan Carne; Ann 1712 - ? m Edward Hampton from whom I am descended; a poster on Genes Reunited has Mary 1728 bap St Erth but I am not entirely sure about this one; There are these burials - Anne Wearne 13 Sep 1732 St Erth, also burial James Wearne 10 Sep 1732 St Erth (there was an influenza epidemic in 1732-33).

Hi Jean, just come across your posting. As it doesn't seem to have had anyone else reply, I'll give you my tuppence worth.
I'm not sure, but my tree "WeymouthFamilyTree 201005" has a fair selection of Penwith Weymouths. The only Ann I have who might fit the bill was baptised in St Buryan on 10 April 1670, daughter of John & Maud. So far there is nothing else on her, which would be the case if she moved to St Erth. The Weymouth clan in Penwith is pretty small, so it's quite a possibility. You could also try http://west-penwith.org.uk/
and http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/
Good hunting Alan Weymouth.

thanks,

I had found the Renshaw marriage so that has confirmed that part for me. Kate Spon is a strange one as I notice that the baptism shows a William Bradbury when I had her mother married to a John Bradbury who died in 1859 - only confirmed by census. Perhaps William was a brother ??
Thanks for replying - if I can help, let me know but feel free to puruse my tree for any information you need

Liz

Hi
On my Davy tree, I found that Kate Spon Bradberry's daughter, Kate Hanneford, married my grandmother's brother, Theodore louis renshaw in 1917. Gran was Annie Caroline Renshaw.I noiced that Kate Bradberry wasnt sure who her father was- I had a similar situation with my maternal gran, who was illegitimate.
Regards
Jane Weymouth (nee Davy)

Gene,

I have read the following note dated 8/29/09 and I would love to see the copy of Dorothy's birth certificate and marriage certificate. And anything else that you would like to share.

Your mother's mother I did find in Chicago and I have a fair amount of information. I have also been to North Sydney; and there are strong Southern connections in the family line.

I think you are a little confused about the Levi Weymouths. One tip which maybe you never realized; of course I will have to go back and check the birth certificates but your grandfather went by the name Edgar if my memory serves me right and your great grandfather the judge actually changed the order of his name after his father and grandfather died. It may have caused you confusion.

If you have the bible, does it give any ancestry info. I am pretty sure of the Weymouth lineage and was quite impressed with the Weymouth line overall.
Weymouth Street is not named after the judge; I just want you to know that. That has been verified. It was named after another Weymouth family member.

I will forward my fax number under special cover.

Her authentic birth cert. indicates the following: Father Edgar Levi Weymouth born in Atlanta, GA and mother Emma Alice Morgan b. 1878 in North Sydney, Cape Breton Island Canada. Grand parents Wilson Morgan b. 1853 and wife Yibiah Morgan
However my parents marriage cert. says my grandfather was born in Portland, ME. (could very well be as the other people in the lineage are mostly from Maine) and grandmother born in Lynn, MA.? (Seems like this may not be true as I believe I have other info indicating the Cape Breton birthplace.)

My Grandfather’s father was Levi Eugene Weymouth b. 04/23/1845, in Portland, ME and his wife was Hattie A.
My husband's great grandmother was Carrie Emerson (Caroline Mary Weymouth) daughter of Capt. Levi Weymouth who died July 11, 1858 at 39 years of age. It has been told that he died of yellow fever in Cuba. Do you have any information about him? Also do you know the parents of Levi Weymouth who died in 1872? Having four Levi Weymouths, that I know of in the family, really confused me for a while.
I'd love to hear from you!

He was born in Frankfurt-am-Main Germany in 1849 and served in the Franco Prussian War. Her deserted the army and somehow got to Montana where he had a silver mine. Cynthia was born about 1860 in Bethel Vermont. At an early age, I think her parents died, and she moved to the mid west. It is curious that she met Charles in Chicago. I have a wonderful Christmas letter from to her sister Lillian write in 1885. We need more Weymouths to join in order for us to get a full understanding of Weymouth family history.

Please take a look at the project at the following website and consider joining if you can.

www.familytreedna.com/public/weymouth

David Elliott Weymouth
Rio Rancho, NM
David@Weymouths.com

PS: I have no economic interest in this project.
E.J. WEYMOUTH m Mary Medora STRODE 1871

They were married, prob. in Virginia, in 1871 and had 2 sons: Aubrey and Grayson. Mary Medora was born in 1846/47 and died in 1898 in Richmond, VA. She is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery there. Am interested to know if there are any descendants. Many thanks in advance.

Elaine,

Have you checked Adams Co, Miss for Weymouth. An antebellum home there is called Weymouth Hall. Call 1-800-647-6742 (this is Natchez Pilgrimage Garden Club) and ask if the can tell you anything about it.

Carolyn

Levi E. Weymouth of Portland Maine is my great great grandfather.

As a clarification to a note posted by Eugene Normand on July 2005:

Weymouth Street was not named after Levi E. Weymouth in Portland, Maine but for his grandfather Levi N. Weymouth who was the keeper of the alms house in Portland for over 20 years. Levi E. Weymouth was born in his grandfather's house on Parris Street.

Weymouth Street is situated where the former alms house in Portland used to be located. A written obituary at the time of Levi E. Weymouth's death confirms the above details and confirms the relationship to my grandmother Dorothy Zibiah Weymouth Normand and my mother Marie Normand Vaccaro.

There are many other facts detailed in this document which may be of interest to others researching Levi E. Weymouth or his ancestors. Please let me know if I can assist in your search.
