Hi Lisa. I live in country New South Wales, Australia, and my branch of the Wheatcrofts migrated to Australia from Sheffield, England in 1920. I do have Wheatcroft relatives in Canada, but, since I only have Australian and UK Ancestry subscription, I haven't researched US Wheatcrofts much at all. I'm sorry I don't have your Eliza or her husband John in my tree at all. Good luck with your research!

Hi Jan,
I have a Eliza Wheatcroft in my ancestry, but getting any information on her family has boggled my mind. She married a John Blaess or John Blease and they both died young and left my grandfather an orphan. I believe that they all originated in Philadelphia, Pa. The Wheatcrofts were in the mainstream of society as I am told by my mother.
If you can help me in anyway, I will be happy to share my information with you.
Thank You
Lisa

Hi, Yes, I have done a lot more research on my Wheatcrofts, and in the course of that I've added a lot of Wheatcrofts to my tree who aren't directly related to me. I've left these people in place to help others who may be searching for 'their' Wheacrofts. I have yet to find the link to Harry Wheatcroft which would prove my mother's claim to being his 2nd cousin. I haven't found any Harrisons on my Wheatcroft side at all, BUT I do have Harrisons on my Delderfield side! My 3rd Great Grandfather James Harrison had a daughter Sarah Harrison (b. 1821 in Alderham, Hertfordshire, England, lost track of her after 1881 census) who married Elijah Delderfield (b. 1820, Alderham, d. 1855). Please feel free to visit my Longson/Delderfield/Wheatcroft/Turner tree and see if there is anything of interest to you there. It's a public tree. so anything you find you may use.

Jan, did you ever get a reply from anyone in this thread?
I am interessted mostly in Vic Wheaton who posted a reply in in 2006. It seems that he has a connection to my family tree (Harrison from Westmoreland). Are you still doing research? Have you found any "Harrisons" in your ancestry?

Hi Matthew, I've checked my tree, and I don't have any Matthews or Williams which fit with you - YET! However, I have come across a couple of census entries which will help you a lot, if your grandfather's mother was Clara. You will get a lot of suggestions on this site if you plug into your tree all that you know. I'd suggest you add to your tree your Williams (don't need dates if you don't have them) and yourself, plus any children you know of (just call them unknown if you don't know names. Even gender will help.) In the meantime, I'll send you an invitation to my tree. I'm fairly certain we'll find a link to each other eventually.
All the best, Jan.

Just started researching Wheatcrofts on this site. My Grandfather was Matthew Wheatcroft - of long service in Royal Engineers. His FATHER and SON (my dad) were WILLIAM.He had 2 sons and 4 daughters. I do have some information - looks like there could be a link, because I've heard the Harry Wheatcroft link too.
My best wishes
Matthew Wheatcroft
Kent

Lorraine, it would be lovely if your Thomas and my William were brothers. Until now, I've been unable to move any further back than William, so it would be quite a breakthrough for me! I've tried your family group on 'for size' and it is certainly the most snug and comfortable fit I've found so far. As a matter of fact, it's the ONLY siblings/parent set which fits AT ALL with my William! LOL. Just as a matter of interest, my grandparents, William Wheatcroft and Agnes Turner, emigrated to Australia with their only daughter Irene in 1920. If you have any family stories about having relatives in Australia, this may be useful. Mum also used to say that she was related (2nd cousin, she thought, but was not sure) to Harry Wheatcroft, rosegrower. I've been rattling around amongst those Wheatcrofts, but haven't yet found the connection.

I'm brand new to this board, so please forgive any 'newbie' transgressions. I'm just starting my search for my mother's family line.

Her name was Irene Longson (nee Wheatcroft) b. 1915 in Sheffield, England.

Her parents were listed on her marriage certificate as William Wheatcroft, Engineer, b. 1886 and Agnes Turner, b. 1890.

William, Agnes and Irene migrated from England to Sydney, Australia in 1920.

William's death certificate lists his parents as William and Lydia.

Mum always said that she was a cousin (wasn't sure how far removed) of Harry Wheatcroft, rose grower. she also told me she was related to the Ross family in South Australia, and that she also had relatives in Canada, one of whom had red hair. (Yes, I'm a redhead!!!)

If there's anyone here who can give me a helping hand, I'd really appreciate it.

Regards, Jan Richardson

Her maiden name was Irene Wheatcroft, and always told me that Harry Wheatcroft (rose grower) was her second cousin! My grandmother's name was Agnes Wheatcroft, daughter of Annie and James, from Sheffield, UK. Agnes and husband (unknown) migrated to NSW Australia with 5 year old Irene in about 1920.

Hi John

My interest in the family is the marriage of Alice WOOLSTON to John Curzon GAMBLE and their descendants, Alice WOOLSTON being a member of my ancestral family. I am not of direct descendant, she was the niece of my ancestor. However, I am trying to trace what happened to all the branches of the family and would be very interested in learning about them. As your name is Curzon, I guess there must be a connection. I see that it was their daughter Caroline GAMBLE who married a WHEATCROFT.

I can give you all the information regarding the Woolston family, should you so wish, but I would be very pleased to hear from you with any information regarding this particular line.

Hoping to hear from you.

With best wishes - Janice
Hi again

From the information I have picked up from the boards, it would seem that William Woolston WHEATCROFT was the son of John WHEATCROFT and Caroline GAMBLE, who in turn was the daughter of Alice WOOLSTON and John Curzon GAMBLE. I would very much like confirmation of this if possible please.

One of my WOOLSTONS, William (bapt. 1794 in Weldon), had a niece by the name of Mary GAMBLE, born Derbys, who appears living with him on the census returns for Little Weldon, Northants in 1851 and 1861. She was described as a Housekeeper. When I spotted the names GAMBLE and WOOLSTON in another posting, I concluded that William's sister Alice must have married a Mr GAMBLE.

I would very much like to hear from you again as I am very interested in the line of descent from Alice WOOLSTON. If you are interested, I can give you the line of Alice's ancestry. Alice was bapt. 23 May 1792 in Weldon, the daughter of William WOOLSTON and Elizabeth PYWELL.

On checking the BMDs, I have found the second William Woolston WHEATCROFT b (Dec) 1881 Derby, d (Jun) 1882 Derby, age 0 years. Do you think he could have been the son of the first William Woolston WHEATCROFT b 1862??

I look forward to hearing from you. You can get me direct at janlinhawk@hotmail.com if you prefer.

Best wishes, Janice

Great to hear from you. Have been trying to fill in the Woodling branch of the tree. Where do you fit in? I am decended from Lillian Lister's sister Jane Ellen Wheatcroft. She married Charles Fenner Bush and their only son Edgar Wheatcroft Bush is my father b. 25 Nov 1907(same day a year earlier than Katherine) d. 09 Dec 1981. Jane Ellen died before I was born so I never knew her, (d. 06 May 1943). From Katherine's obit I have Dennis Woodling in Columbia, MD and David Woodling in N. Carolina. If you don't have a copy of her obit I can send it to you via email if you don't mind sharing your email address. I have a hand written list from my Grandmother's bible of all the Wheatcroft children that I could also send via email and I have a copy of the WWI Draft Registration card for Clarence M. Woodling (do you know what the M. stands for?).
I was born and raised on LI, NY and now live in NJ. As a child we spent vacations at my grandfather's (Charles Bush) house in Delaware Water Gap and I remember very well visiting Lawrence and Ruth (Maiden name?) and playing with Dennis and David. I know Katherine was a school teacher and never married but don't know much about Grace. Would love to trade more info with you. Do you have any info before Henry & Elizabeth? My email address is
molson1@comcast.net.

Thanks for responding,
Margaret Bush Olson

William Woolston is listed as living with nephew Ernest. His son was also called Ernest and his daughter is my mother. I cannot find evidence of Ernest 1's father. I suspect it may be his brother Arthur but all records of Arthur vanish after 1885. When both Caroline and John Wheatcroft died Ernest was brought up by his Maiden aunt Georgiana. William Woolston is a mystery as he is listed as dying aged 0 in 1882. The entry above William reads - John Gamble C (Curzon) Wheatcroft?????? Doubt if you will get this as your message was posted ages ago, but it would be interesting.

Hi
I have little information on John's family. I do know his parents are Sarah Bridge and Thomas Wheatcroft they were married 26 April 1847 in St James, Didsbury Lancashire, England. Thomas father was James Wheatcroft. This information is from the family Bible. I don't know any other family members for John or Mary. They came to Canada in 1871 or 1872. I don't believe any siblings of John or Mary came with them. Let me know if you need any info on John and Mary's family.

Hi, I'm a descendant of the Wheatcrofts. My relatives lived in Virginia. My great great great grandmother was Elizabeth Wheatcroft. Her father's name was John Wheatcroft. She married my great great great grandfather, John P. Blease, in the late 1800's. My great great grandfather was Roger Wheatcroft Blease. I haven't ever found any information on Elizabeth or John. Both died very young and left my grandfather Roger an orphan. One of the Wheatcroft relatives took him in. He lived in VA. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Lisa

I, too am a Wheatcroft, the area that I am from is Whitby, North Yorkshire. My grandparents originally from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, a most popular place for the Wheatcrofts! Our family name will be ended now as my only male cousin decided not to have children, although his sister kept Wheatcroft when she married and is known as Jane Wheatcroft-Bailey. Also their sister Elizabeth has traced as far back as the turn of the century but I dont keep in contact with her, but will have to try and phone her as I am really interested in what she has done. I would like to know your origins, it seems there are a lot of Wheatcrofts in the U.S. Do you have connections over there? I would like to hear from you. Sue Murray nee Wheatcroft

I do not know Florence's maiden name. John and Florence had two daughters according to the 1920 and 1930 censuses,
Vera Lorraine and Treva. Vera Lorraine Everstine was my husband's grandmother. She married Dennis Francis McKenna in Mahoning County and they had three boys, Donald James McKenna, Paul Hudson McKenna, and my father-in-law
Richard Dennis McKenna. Vera left the family when Richard was a baby and I do not know what happened to her or the rest of the Everstines. Dennis Francis McKenna, his sister, and their father all died in 1957 when Richard was 18, I think. This had the effect of cutting off alot of the family history which I have been trying to reconstruct. Any info you can give me will help.
Thanks,
Pam

Pam,
I don't know if you're just interested in information about Charles and his family or also about his brothers and sisters. If so, that's going to be quite a bit for a message board. If you want all of it, e-mail me at the address listed on this post.

I've also had to reconstruct a lot of the family history, but I've been working on it since 1985 and started with information from my mother, so I've more info than you. I'm the granddaughter of Charles' brother, Benjamin Franklin.
Carolyn

I agree with you that Charles is the father. Given that the name, Everstine, is so uncommon, this must be the family. The East Liverpool is the clincher since this is where this family lived. Charles married Hettie Barnes in Columbia County, OH on 16 Dec. 1886 (Columbiana Co, OH Vital Records). He died on 8 Nov. 1890, Columbiana Co, VR). Hettie must have remarried and John used his step-father's name growing up. Can you tell me what happened to John. When did he marry? Who was Florence (maiden name). When and where did they die? I have a lot of info. on the siblings of Charles and some on his parents if you want it.
