Hi Tom.....nice to hear from you.

I remember you (and your siblings). Believe you were the youngest and your sister, Diane, was my age. And I remember Milan & Olive and your parents. Our families met almost every Memorial Day at the Woodward Cemetery.

My husband Bill and I went to Whaplode, England about 15 years ago to see where the Wheelwrights came from. It was interesting and I am so glad that your grandmother Olive had all of the information that she had & shared it with us.

Hope you and your family are well. Hi to everybody. My dad is going to turn 89 this July. Take care.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your message. I don't have a record of Charles Wheelwright and Elizabeth Hale, although I do have Eliza Hellen, b. 1840. Unfortunately, this is one of the few Birmingham entries for Wheelwright which don't seem to be part of my tree. I can't find this family on the 1841 census either.

Good luck in your research.

Best regards, Mike

I have a tenuous connection with Birmingham Wheelwrights. I have a Charles Wheelwright m. Elizabeth Hale, who at some point lived in Birmingham. Their daughter Helen(Ellen) was born there in (I think, refer to BMD)1840. They emigrated to New York in 1845. From there I know the rest of their story. Elizabeth later (1862)married my g.g.g. grandfather, who was from Sheffield.

Can provide more detailed info, look forward to hearing from you,

Lisa Kelley

What is the Wheelwright Family? Is it a history book about the Wheelwright family? I am a descendant of Martha Hurst Coop who was Matthew Wheelwright's 3rd wife. He met her while he was on his mission to England. He was instrumental in helping her and her children get to Utah. I am interested in finding out if there is any information about her in the Wheelwright family book. I have read one somewhat unflattering description about her in a daughters of the Utah Pioneers history.

So Matthew is my 3rd great-grandfather. I have gathered so many names in my family history, but no stories or personal information. I would love to talk with you and get sources, journals, copies of anything! This is my only known descendant who is also a part of the LDS church history which makes me even more eager to learn more.

Dear Descendants of MBW and Mary Ann Farrar and/or Catherine Farrer
It has recently came to my attention that the overland travel record for the pioneers on lds.org did not include that of Matthew B Wheelwright and Mary Ann Farrar. I contacted the History Dept and they researched and kindly listed the family as coming with an unidentified company in 1854.

Our family history in my possession from the Wheelwright bulletin no.2 states that they arrived Oct 19, 1854. I am unable to locate a company that arrives that particular date.

The story compiled by Jean Johnson in bulletin no. 11 dated May 1973 states that they traved with the Garn co. the fifth company of 1854. they left for Salt Lake july 2, 1854 for SLC etc.
we need to locate Jean Johnson's source for this article to verify the information. This article is a secondary source and we need additional information to get this recorded correctly in the Church Records. Go to the overland search on lds.com and put in Matthew's name and now you will get back information that states unknown company. at least I was able to get it that far, but for more information I need the family to locate those documents.

I have scanned through Matthew's missionary journals and didn't locate any of that information, however, I gained a greater knowledge and love for my dear great grandfather.

I hope someone in the family can locate these documents.
I feel that it is important to our dear ancestors.

Sincerely
Kathryn Hill (Ruth Wheelwright's granddaughter)
208-766-2340
WHEELWRIGHT family in Franklin County, Maine - 1880,1900

Samuel (b. 1825) and Betsey (b. 1841) with son Everett (b. 1866) lived in Wilton, Franklin County, Maine, yet spent summers in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Since the 1900 census states father and son were carpenters, they may have built their home in Old Orchard Beach. My daughter has recently bought a house which I believe the Wheelwright men built. Along with the house, there is a 3 story tower built next to it. I'm researching this house, and am interested in who Samuel's parents, grandparents were, as if they were sea captains, or worked on a ship in those early days, then that would tell why the tower was built back in 1899.

If you have any information on this WHEELWRIGHT family or would have suggestions for me to follow up on, I would appreciate hearing from you.

ebcooper@copper.net

Wheelwright-Whaplode, Lincolnshire, England

My line of Wheelwrights goes back to Thomas Wheelwright, (my g-g-g-g-grandfather) born abt 1750 in Whaplode, Lincolnshire, England. Married widow Rebecca Cramp Nov 27, 1777.

Their son, Thomas, (g-g-g-grandfather), was born Abt 24 Sep 1783 in Whaplode married Sarah Syson 7 Mar 1805. They had many children---including David Wakefield Wheelwright, born 31 Jul 1822 in Whaplode.

David (g-g-grandfather), came to America (NY) May, 1845. He married Jane Simmons 14 Nov 1848 in NY. They had 11 children, including Daniel Winfield Wheelwright (my g-grandfather) born 26 Sep 1861 in Cross Plains, Dane Co., Wisconsin.

Daniel married Clara Stevens in Lake View, Iowa and they had 3 sons---Milan, Burton and Robert Wheelwright (my grandfather), born in 4 Sep 1900 in Wall Lake, Iowa.

I have never found anything on this line of the Wheelwrights---only on the line of Rev. John Wheelwright. Since they were also from the Lincolnshire area of England maybe they descend from the same line?

Would appreciate any information. Thanks.

Betsy Wheelwright Daniel

I have the Mullen family Bible back to about 1835 and it is current as I am very dilligent about it for those in my family. If you send me your address I will be glad to send what I have; who knows we could be distant cuz's. Have found Fran Mullin through here and he is definitely a cuz directly back to John and Margaret Mullen. We plan to get together this summer if possible to share the family Bible.
Wheelwright--Mary Storre linage

(Name spelled Storre in England- Storer, USA)
The following info was sent to me directly from England by Mr. Geoff Hadfield, noted historian and from the Bilsby Parish, Alford, Lincolnshire, England.
John Wheelwright was the only son of Robert and Katherine Wheelwright. John Wheelwright 1st married Mary Storre on Nov. 8, 1621 at Bilsby Parish. By Mary Storre, he had 3 sons and a daughter all baptised at Bilsby.
John bapt. Oct 7, 1622, Thomas Bapt. Oct 5, 1624, William Bapt. 1626 burried 1627, Susanna, bapt. May 22, 1628
Mary Storre, first wife, burried at Bilsby,
May 18, 1629.
John Wheelwright 2nd married Mary Hutchinson, youngest daughter of Edward and Susan Hutchinson. No record of that marriage but it took place soon after the death of 1st wife, Mary. Probably in London.
Daughter Marie (by Mary Hutchinson) bapt May 9, 1632, burried July 28, 1632.
In 1623 the Rev. John Wheelwright became the Vicar (minister) of the Bilsby Parish after the death of his father-in-law, Thomas Storre. After 13 yrs. at Bilsby, he emigrated to the USA as a result of Archbishop Laud's silencing of the clergy.(1633). He returned to England to get his wife and family and Susan, the widowed mother of William Hutchinson -- Landing back in the USA 1636.
He became minister of Wollaston, Mass. but was banished in 1637. whereupon he founded the town of Exter, New Hampshire. He died in 1629 in Salisbury, Mass.
No doubt Rev. John Wheelwright and 2nd wife
Mary Hutchinson had children but I have no record.
Hope this helps.

Am searching which branch of the many John Wheelwright families produced Joseph, Carolyn, and Storer (sp?) Wheelwright, esp. Carolyn, who married Russequieu, in Hartford, CT. Does anyone know if direct lineage of John Wheelwright and Marie Storre?
