Siner-Whetzel marriage?

I've seen a lot of trees that have Mary Whetzel (Wetzel / Wetsel) as the wife of John Siner (Sinor / Sinah) of Bedford Co., VA. A a descendant of John Siner, I've been trying to find any documentation of Mary's surname having been Whetzel.

Please contact me if you have documentation / proof that Whetzel, or one of it's spelling variations, was her surname.

Thanks

Tom Caulley

tcaulleysgenmail@yahoo.com
Does anyone know anything about a deed from Martin WHETZELL (WETZEL) to John SIVERT in Sand Hill District, Ohio, Virginia before 1834? In a deed belonging to John's son in 1848, it says "whereon the said George SIVERT and family doth now live in Marshall County Virginia being part of a tract of land containing one hundred and fourteen acres conveyed to John SIVERT Deceased by Martin WHETZELL, this part now conveyed descended to George SIVERT as heirs at law of the aforesaid John SIVERT dec'd"
Another article says "John (probably Johann) WETZEL and family, who came to this district in 1769, from Pennsylvania, and made a small clearing and built a cabin on Big Wheeling creek, just opposite to where Alexander CALDWELL now lives. WETZEL's was a tomahawk right, but by actual settlement, his letters of patent right was granted in 1785, to the land now owned by E. and D. LUTES, Alexander CALDWELL, Hiram McCOMBS and others" (SOURCE>History of The Pan Handle; Being Historical Collections of theCounties of Ohio, Brooke, Marshall and Hancock, West Virginia. Compiledand written by J. H. Newton, G. G. Nichols, A. G. Sprankle. Publishedby J. A. Caldwell, 1879.)

Pamela--check out this site, as it has lots of information on the descendants of Hans Martin Whetzel, whose son I believe you are referring to, and their land transactions.

http://groups.msn.com/HansMartinWetzelAncestry/home.htm

very good site--sadly the message boards aren't very active, but there is a wealth of info on the family. the most complete I've seen yet.

--Tina Gebhart-Whetsel
