I have Ezekiel as the son of Nathaniel and Mary Anne Watkins. Nathaniel, according to the 1851 census, was a mason and publican of the Masons Arms in Tintern Parva. After a visit to that hostelry by the writer Somerset Maugham in 1947, the name was changed to "The Moon and Sixpence" after his book of the same name and remains so to this day.
I'm still working on the rest of your info. Thanks once more.
John.

Had another look at the Watkins info I had. Now confused as the only marriage I can find for an Ezekiel Watkins is to an Emma Whitchurch LEE in 1869 in Cardiff. Also found a christening on here in 1848 for Emma Whitchurch LEE in Clifton with parents shown as William Whitchurch LEE and Sarah. Not sure how it all links in now. Will have to do some more digging. Always understood Clara and Sid were cousins and linked to Whitchurch name on both sides but not sure how if Emma's maiden name was Lee rather than Thomas? Suggests Williams mother was a Whitchurch rather than his wife perhaps.Interested to know where the Moon and Sixpence info came from? Cheers.
Anne

Hmm? Bit complicated but here goes - I have an old letter from my grandmother's cousin I think who came from Bristol. Her mother was Clara Watkins who married her cousin Sid Davis. His mother Emma was the daughter of Ann Curthoys (nee Whitchurch). She says Clara's mother was an Emma Thomas (b 1848)who was (she thought) a stepdaughter of Sarah Whitchurch (Ann's sister?). She married an Ezekiel Watkins from Tintern and is aged 62 on the 1911 census for Cardiff.Do any of these fit in with yours?

Thanks for that. My Emma's DOB does not quite tally with yours, so I'll have to do a bit more digging. I definitely have a connection with the ferry operators though. Emma's grand daughter(my Mother)was given a middle name of Whitchurch.
Do you happen to have any Watkins of Tintern by any chance?

I have limited information regarding a woman, Alice Pullen of Australia, whose mother was Almeda Whitchurch. I have had conversations by telephone with Almeda's family who live in Chico, CA. Mrs. Pullen's siblings are listed in a newspaper article as Ida Segesman of Crescent City, CA; Agnes Montgomery of Tustin, CA; Dolores Roughtor of Brawley, CA; Ed Whitchurch of Fortuna, CA; Tommy Whitchurch of Gridley; Maurice Whitchurch of Chico, CA; and James Whitchurch, of Yam Hill, OR.

If any of these names ring a bell, I have an email contact for you in Riverside, CA. I am a distant relation to this family, but haven't figured out for sure how I am related except to believe it is thru descendancy from Thomas Gilbert Whitchurch 1750-1835; William Whitchurch 1778-1848; David Whitchurch 1811-1882 and Joseph Clinton Whitchurch 1854-1936. I am a descendant of Walter Clark Whitchurch, son of Joseph Clinton Whitchurch.

Whitchurch Family New York/Illinois

I have missing pages to a book on Whitchurch descendants from Thomas G. Whitchurch who lived in New York City priot to and during the Rev. War. Possibly Kenneth Mercer of Webster Groves, MO prepared the book -- I am not certain. It is a series of typewritten pages that were given to me by a Whitchurch relative. I would like to have all the pages. If someone reading this message has pages missing, perhaps we could help each other out. I want to have a complete book, not just pages pertaining to my particular line.

I too am looking for information on Whitchurch from Tasmania. Amelia E. Whitchurch married my Grandfather, Charles H.J. Ginn in the early 1940s. I am led to believe that Amelia came from around the Devonport/Burnie area of Tasmania. Could we exchange the information we have on these two, at least, if it fits with yours.

Elayne

Hi Elayne, I believe that any Whitchurches that came from Tassie are all definately related. Have you any other names as some info I have has a lot more names that could give me a clue as to your part of the family. The name Ginn certainly rings a bell. I have traced my grandfathers side back to the convicts in the first fleet as the youngest female prisoner was married to a whitchurch. I apologise for not having contacted you earlier but I have moved and my email address has changed and I have finally 5 minutes to sit down and reply. Hoping to hear from you soon Leanne.
