Hi Susan, long time since I heard from you. Guess you are pretty busy with your business. Do hope all is going well for you.
Have you had any luck with your Whiteland rellies in locating my elusive Henry?
Would love to see your tree as mine also goes back to a James Whiteland 1785 married to ann vickers in 1815. There is also a James 1862 married to Susan Roach. Would they be rellies of yours do you think?
Anyway would love to hear from you soon.
Cheers for now, Gaye.

Hya Gaye

We had a quiet Xmas thanks, just how we wanted it. The weather here is so cold at the moment. I have a Dog Grooming Salon and Pet Supplies (www.pottyonpets.co.uk)if you would like to have a look, i'm very proud of our website. I hope you don't mind me asking but would it be ok if we used direct email it's bit of a pain for me to look for messages on Ancestry as I use another site which you might be interested in "Genes Reunited". I am getting a lot of contacts, one guy has told me about a Harry Whiteland who emigrated in 1925 with the area and date, never to be heard of again. I will keep you updated as I receive information, my address is birdy134@hotmail.com
Kind regards (jealous of your weather) Susan

Hi Susan,
Good to hear from you. Hope you had a lovely Xmas, not too cold, and all the best for the New Year. Hope your new business goes well. What type is it if you don't mind me asking? We are in the middle of summer here and it's been 39 to 33 degrees for the last week or so and not getting any cooler for awhile. (We have a pool so that's a blessing).
Had a look on my tree and I cann't find your father or grandfather but if you have gone back further than that let me know and I'll look to see if anyone else comes up. Some of the main lines don't have all the little branches on them.
Would love to hear if your gdad's cousin know's anything.
Cheers for now
Gaye.
Hya Gaye
So sorry for the delay in writing, I run my own business which is quite new so had to really give this my full attention. I have started to research the Whiteland family seriously now and hope to be able to help you at the same time. Just to let you know that my d.o.b. is 15.09.53 born in Essex, my father is Alan Whiteland born in Pancras London 1932, his father is Alfred Sydney born in Croydon 1905, all the family going back to a James Whiteland born 1791 in the Richmond area.

An aunty I was hoping would be able to help is quite unwell, so unable to approach her. I have been given another contact a cousin of my grandad Alfred who it seems, knows family who emigrated to Australia.

Anyway, I wish you a happy new year and lets hope that we find this an interesting one.

Kind regards

Susan

Hi Susan,
Thanks for your reply. Any help would really be appreciated. I seem to have hit a brick wall.
My gg fathers name was Henry Whiteland. On my gfathers birth cert in 1892(born in australia) it states his father, Henry as being 46yrs, born London. It also says he married Lucy Taylor, 36yrs, born Derby, England on 8th Jan 1878 in London.
Now the really strange thing is I have had other people look for their marriage in London and no one has been able to find any record of it.
Now it gets even stranger. I have found a marriage between Henry and Lucy in sydney, aust dated 30th July 1870.
Seems they got married in Sydney before they got married in London. Surely it must be the same people as it would be a huge coincidence for two people with the same names to marry in two different continents. Can you understand why I"m confused. No where can I find their parents names.
I think I have found Henry's death in Aust but it states "Parents Unknown".
I have a Whiteland tree which goes back to 1771 and I think my Henry belongs to Thomas John Whiteland and Sarah Moore but there is just a very small niggle that I cann't seem to link them until I can find something with Henry's parents names on.
Sorry to have waffled on so long but maybe your Aunt will be able to shed some light.
Cheers for now and Thanks heaps.
Gaye

P.S. I have 2 Susan Whiteland's on the tree. One is Susan Alice Elizebeth dob 8/09/1956 (Happy Birthday if that's you) and Susan, daughter ofHerbert Stanley Whiteland and Elenor Hunter. Are you one of these????

Hya Gaye
Lovely to have a quick response, my Auntie is in Canada at moment, will certainly pass this on to her on her return, but in the meantime I will ask another "Whiteland" Auntie just incase she has some details. Would it help if you gave me your grandfathers full name (any idea what part of England he came from)to see if I can come up with anything.
Regards
Susan

Hi Susan,
I am researching the Whiteland family. I am a Whiteland born in australia. My great grandfather came from England in the 1870's but have been unable to find his parents names. On his death cert if states "parents unknown".
Would love to see some of your Aunts family tree to see if we can tie in anywhere.
Cheers Gaye.

Hi Anne,
was surprised to see your message of 2 yrs ago, just got back on the net, hence the delay. Have researched the whiteland name back to greatgrandfather henry who arrived in victoria in 1878 but have contact with norm whiteland in texas who is also doing family tree and he has gone back to 1771. He also has a henry but cant quite make the connection so if it is the same one we will be able to also go back to 1771.
would love to hear about some of your ancestors to see if we can connect any of them. it is a very unusual name and appears to come fromsurrey, england. Regards Gaye Espinos (nee Whiteland).

Since posting my message I have discovered that Henry (brother) died at the age of 13, so hence no decendants. Still searching for info on Henry (father) and Lucy (mother). But I know there are other Whitelands in the eastern states of Australia and would like to hear from any of them.

Am searching for descendants of my grandfathers (George) brother Henry Whiteland who was 6 years old at time of grandfathers birth in Geelong Victoria in 1892. Their fathers name was Henry who married Lucy Taylor (mother) in January 1878 in London. Have found record of father, Henry, arriving on the ship "somersetshire" in Feb 1878 in Victoria. We have no idea what happened to either Henry and would like to know if there are any descendants.
Have had contact from Norm Whiteland in Texas and have just got to find out the last link to Henry to add us to their family tree which goes back to the 1700's.
