Death of James Whitewater - 1899

CHIEF OF THE OTOES DEAD

Guthrie, Oklahoma, October 17 - James Whitewater, chief of the Otoe Indians, died yesterday. He was over 90 years old, had served in the army and received a pension. After the civil war he shot two men and was sentenced to the penitentiary for life. He was pardoned by President Harrison.

my grandmothers name was mary elizabeth whitewater-jackson.she had a sister named sallie.her mothers name was ellen blackhawk,father john whitewater.stepfather george c. jackson.she was married to william a. neasbitt,ralieh lee hooper.she was born on 1876,fannin county,texas,william was born in okla. indian territory,1857.died about 1905 or 1906.they got married in 1891.grandma,s month of birth was in august..she had sixteen children, one name was irene jenkins.she got married when she was seventeen,died when she was twentyone of TB.she was a beautiful young woman.my grandpa,s fathers name was RN neasbitt,mother martha,at least two brothers,elijah,andrew, sister laura,and another one but couldn,t make out her name.my dad had an uncle nickname snake neasbitt,lived around kingston okla.his wifes first name was virginia.they lived in a house with dirt floors.i came from a family of ten.my mother,s name was martha adeline(ramsey)neasbitt.she was born in searcy,ark. in 1904.i had two half brothers,fred,leon neasbitt..so if your looking for the same mary elizabeth whitewater-jackson. email me.thanks
