I am looking for a 1900 census record of my great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Campbell from Anderson, South Carolina. Her mothers name was Ollie Campbell. I do not know if Ollie ws ever married. Some say Ollie's husband was named Jim but I am not sure of that. Mary does have a sister named Annie Campbell. Mary shows up in the 1910 census married to my great grandfather Gordon Whitfield in Center, Townville, South Carolina. But I can find no record of her in 1900 with her mother Ollie. I am also looking for a death record for Mary and have heard that the name on the record is Mrs. Gordon Whitfield. But I have not been able to find one for her. Please help if you can.
Thanks Cat

Whitfields of Alabama and Whitfields of North Carolina?

I am stumped. I am looking for the father of William Whitfield married to Mary Towler. He came from Northumberland to VA to Alabama. Is there a connection to William Whitfield in North Carolina? I think the research I am finding on public family trees is incorrect and linking them in the wrong place. Any help would be appreciated.

I am in the separate line of Whitfield's including William Whitfield, born 1688 in Nansemond Co, Virginia. In researching the family, I have a seventh child for your William and Mary. I found William Whitfield, born 17 APR 1784 in Goochland Co, Virginia. He would have been the last child born to William and Mary.
FYI, I also have William and Mary's marriage as 14 DEC 1772 in Goochland.
I have not been able to document to a certaintly the connection to England either, but continue to seek.

I'm working on the exact same thing. James Towler Whitefield is my 4xgr gf & William b.1751 is my 5xgr gf, also. William A. Whitefield is my 3Xgr gf. Many people have William Whitfield b.1688 as Wm. b.1751's father, but his son was Wm. Whitfield b.1715. Different line, which I'm sure you have figured out.
I'll let you know if I come across anything that makes sense!

Seeking info on the parentage/place of origin (likely England) of my gx5 grandfather, William Whit(e)field, who might have been born in Goochland Co., VA in 1751 and died in Shelby, St. Clair, Alabama in 1835. He fought the British under the command of Gen. George Washington at Valley Forge.

William and his wife, Mary Towler (Toe-lur), had six children: George, Elizabeth, James T., John T., Mary and David. Their son, James Towler Whitfield (b. 1777 in Goochland, VA, died 1850 in Bushy Fork Person Co., NC) , was my gx4 grandfather.

Descendants of Wm. Whitefield settled in NC, SC (Pendleton District), GA , Alabama (and beyond).

Hope you can help me "hop the pond" with William Whitefield's family tree. Or, if you have info re. the migration of Mary Towler's parents (Mary and John), I'd appreciate that too.

Thank you. - EW

I am looking for some further information regarding Annie Mae Taylor (1916 - 1962) 2nd wife of Davit (or David) Whitfield (1889 - 1965). Grandparents were Walter (born abt 1886) and Cherrie Taylor (born abt 1883). They had 1 girl (Connie Taylor Boykins 1910 - 2010) and 5 boys (Norman/Nayman, Clinton/Clenton, Edward, Walter J and Elma). If there is anyone out there that has records and/or similarities to Annie, please respond back.
I am the Great Granddaughter of Rosa Florine Gibson & John B Gordon Whitfield. Both lived in Anderson Co. SC and had family around Habersham GA I have info on some of the more recent family. They had 18 children, one of which was my grandmother Vannie Adaline Whitfield. They had many grand and great grand children. I have pictures of them both as well as a few stories. Rosa was a wonderful person; very sweet & kind. I remember her well. She passed away in 1994 at 97.5 years to the day.

Let me know if you'd like more info.

Natalie McKee

Sharon, it would be very helpful if you could give us some idea of where your ancestors lived, to the best of your ability, though I know it is difficult sometimes, the farther back you go. If you do not know for sure, just tell us where you think they lived - at least what part of which state, if you do not know the town/county.
Carol

Henry Walter WHITFIELD b1888

Hi,

I need some help in finding a lost G-Uncle of mine Henry Walter Whitfield, who was born on the 8th December 1888 in Kensington, Liverpool, Lancashire (The BMD register's have his birth date as being the first quarter of 1889).

The last information I have about him is the 1901 census which shows him and his Mum, and two younger brothers to be living at 22 Harvest Rd, Willesden, London. I also have a picture of him in uniform with his middle brother Bill during WW1. Henry was in the 17th Queen's Royal Lancers during the war.

After the war he simply vanished and I would like some help in tracing him as I would like to know what happened to him, did he get married and have children ?

Many thanks

Simon Rickard

Post separate messages, one for each uncle, on the location board relevant to where you know they last lived. For instance, for WHITFIELD post on the Lancashire board, and for O'HALLORAN post on the Hertfordshire board. Be sure to use good subject lines and type surnames in all caps. (See Board FAQ for other hints about creating good messages.)

Good luck!

Hi,

I would like some help, ideas, pointers etc in trying to find out information about two great uncles of mine who both survived WW1 and then disappeared.

My first great uncle was Henry Walter Whitfield born 1888 in Kensington, Liverpool, and served in the 17th Queen's Royal Lancers during WW1. After the war he seems to have disappeared and I would be particularly interested in finding out details of where he lived, if he married and had children.

My second great uncle is Leslie Butler O'Halloran born in 1888 in Islington, Middlesex. Married in 1918 after being in the RAF and he died in 1957 at Tolmer's Park hospital, Hertford, Herts. I would be interested to find out is where he lived after the war up to his death and also did they have any children ?

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Simon Rickard
