passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Ball Pavilion.
She was born in Harborcreek,PA, on March 6, 1920,
daughter of the late Vincent and Lucy DeDionisio Pepicello. Anna was employed for 28 years with the Boston Store until her retirement and was a faithful member of St. James R.C. Church. She was an excellent cook, always sharing her cooking, especially her famous meatballs, with family and friends, and helping at church dinners. She enjoyed the out of doors, especially flowers and God's little creatures, and time with her grandchildren. The widow of Lawrence Whitney, she is survived by two daughters, Joann Mineo (Ralph) of North Baltimore, Ohio and Ja-net' Moske (Michael) of Erie; two step-sisters, Aggie Ruscitto and Kay Celentano; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Vincent, Joseph, Anthony and Benjamin Pepicello. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 10 a.m. conducted by her son-in-law, Rev. Ralph J. Mineo. Interment, Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen, 345 East 9th St., Erie, PA 16503.

I am looking for information on John Whitney born June 28, 1893 in Iowa. His father was Valantine Whitney and his mother was Mary. They moved to Vernon County, WI around or before 1900. The last record I can find for John is his WWI draft army card. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Vital Records of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, published in 1904, says that he is buried in Shrewsbury, citing his gravestone inscription for his death date.

The John Whitney I go back to was born 1589 and died 1673, married Elinor/Ellen Bray who was born in 1597. Their son John born 1621, died 1692 married Ruth Reynolds who was born 1623. From there, my family goes down to Nathaniel and Eli. I could not find a Lydia in my information, sorry.

Amos Underwood and Abigail (Nabby) Whitney

I'm searching for the family of Abigail Whitney who married Amos Underwood. Abigail died in 1840 in Louisville, St. Lawrence, NY. Amos died in 1832 at Plattsburgh, Clinton, NY. He was a War of 1812 Veteran. I know of two children, Sally and Harriet but I think there were more. I've been unable to find anything on the Whitney family. I think they were from Vermont as Abigail was supposedly born there but I'm not sure. I had posted this a number of years ago under the E-Mail address billcarol2@prodigy.net.

I have a William E., but not a Walter E. I haven't gotten very far back on this part of my tree though. My grandfather was James Sinsel Whitney, and his father was William E. I can't find anything more than that.

Searching for information on Mattie E. Whitney. She is from Maine but not sure from where in Maine . Would love information on her parents - we know of a brother of her's by the name of Eli or Elijah - according to my Aunt, Maddie cut Eli ( Elijah) out of her life and did not speak to him for over 70 years.
Also according to my Aunt , who was raised by Maddie, she (Maddie) is 1/2 Cherokee and Maddie's mother was pure blood . I would love to know if there is any truth to this.

She married Earl Cookson in 1916 in Canaan Maine but I have not been able to find a marriage certificate to back this up.

I believe you are referring to Alanson Whitney, b. Nov 13, 1830 in Augusta Township, Grenville County, Ontario, Canada. He died April 29, 1914 in Waverly, Bremer County, Iowa. He married Delaney Young on June 6, 1858. Alanson Whitney's parents are Samuel Whitney, b. June 4, 1805 in Augusta Township, d. January 20, 1884, Augusta Township, and Mary Jackson, b. June 11, 1811 in Ireland, d. August 18, 1894 in Augusta Township. Samuel Whitney's ancestor is John Whitney who arrived in Watertown, Mass. from England in 1635. Samuel Whitney is my ancestor.

Alonzo Whitney born in Canada

I'm searching for the parents,etc. of Alonzo Whitney,who was born in Canada in 1836. He married Delano Young in 1858 in NY state. They are both buried in Finchford, Iowa. Alonzo died in 1914.

They had children- I'm searching for Samuel Brown Whitney, born in 1869, in Finchford, who married Mary (Mamie) Richards. They had a son, Robert Uriah Whitney.

I can share info from there, but don't have back from Alonzo. Thanks much, Linda

Hi Sully-Bean, here are some links for further research. A bit overwhelming, but after years of research these are a few places I've found information.

Because of the surnames, and the VT location, I suggest you check the counties of Worcester & Franklin, MA, and Windham Co., VT for vital records (clues below). The names of Wheeler & Whitney are prominent in all of those counties and the Van Valkenburg surname is prominent in the counties of Albany & Columbia, NY; many of the Van Valkenburg went to Wood County, OH and other counties. The Van Valkenburg surname and varients almost all started out down the Hudson river in Manhattan, NY.

Hey all,

I'm looking for any information on the George F. Whitney family.

George F. Whitney b. 1 JUN 1836 in VT, d. 8 JUL 1905 in Ionia, Michigan.
Married to Mary J. Van Valkinburg (b. 27 JUN 1839 in Ohio, d. 5 DEC 1916 in Ionia, Michigan).

I have copies of George's death certificate as well as the newspaper article published at the time of his death. (Also have Mary's death cert as well.)

George's parents are listed as Nathan Whitney of unknown location, m. to Ina/Sina Wheeler of unknown location. Nathan's wife's name is illegible, Ina is my best guess.

Any information on any of these family members would be greatly appreciated!
