I have discovered that "my" Frank Whitwell has been dead for a very long time (born 1848 in Schuyler County, Missouri), so we're not talking about the same Frank Whitwell. I think my Whitwells come from around the same area in Tennessee though; his parents were Reuben Whitwell and Elvira Martin Wells.

I can't tell you anything more, though. It will take me ages to re-enter all my information in my computer files as my laptop was stolen with my database in it. Unfortunately my files have become piles, so I can't find anything right now to verify Perry County, TN. I think it's near Hickman County where I believe Reuben was born, and Reuben and Elvira married.

My 2nd cousin is Emily Grace Strickland, who married Furman Reade Whitwell, III. They lived in Kalispell, MT and are buried at Conrad Memorial Cemetery, Kalispell, Flathead, MT. Would love to have more info on this family. Thanks.

I know it's over a year later, but I just came across you're obit query. Frank Whitwell is my dad's oldest living brother. Their father was William J Bryan Whitwell, of Perry Co., TN, m. to Emily Mode of London, England. Wm.'s parents are Felix Carroll Whitwell and Doxie Jane Eary, also of Perry Co., TN. "AUGUSTA -- Whitwell, Alice Lee, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2005. Alice was born in Wichita on Nov. 2, 1932. She was the daughter of Williams Jennings Bryan Phelps and Mary Louise (Williams). She was a homemaker and was an active community volunteer. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and her grandchildren. On Sept. 15, 1956, she married Frank Whitwell in Mt. Hope. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Steve Whitwell and wife, Emily of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Shelly Garcia and husband, Charles of Augusta, Amy Colombana and husband, Nat of Seattle, WA; sisters, Shirley Walton and husband, Dale; Eleanor Hoskinson and husband, Glenn, all of Augusta; Marilyn Patterson and husband, Darrell of Salem, OR; grandchildren, Matthew and Alison Whitwell, Amanada, Laura, Hannah, and Steven Garcia, Brian Colombana and wife, Danissa, Kevin, Rachel, Camille, Ethan, and Aidan Colombana; great-grandchild, Dylan Colombana; step-great-grandchild, Oceana Stolle.

As I was searching for my WHITWELL family, I ran across this forum. I have found that I am connect to the WHITWELL family thorugh marriage in several different ways.

I am afraid I don't have anything on ELIZA WHITWELL but I have forwarded your enquiry on to the grandson of EDITH WHITWELL for whom I searched for about 3 years and found living in Rochester New York State.
If he has anything on ELIZA I am sure he will get back to me and I will forward it on to you. I don't think we had any connections with that part of Westmorland though - but you never know.

Just come across a whitwell in my family. In the 1841 census Eliza Whitwell age 2 appears. By 851 she had changed her name to the family name of Harrison (which was mis spelt as Harrenson). We assume she was a grandchild or! The family are from Whittington - very close to kendal. Do you have any knowledge of this Eliza?

Harold, do you have parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. of Alice Lee's husband, Frank WHITWELL? That way we can figure out to which line he/she belong.

My great-grandmother, Sarah Angeline "Anna" (WHITWELL) UNDERWOOD had a brother named Francis Buchanan WHITWELL who went by the name Frank. There are a number of WHITWELLs from that line in southern Missouri and Kansas. I do not wish to disturb her children with these questions at this time. Thanks!

My great unlce was Furman Reade Whitwell IV, my great-grandfather was Furman Reade Whitwell III and so on. Our family came over from England I believe and settled, at least for sometime in MA. There has been a book written about this family line called "My Dearest Anna". If anyone is seeking info on this family line, let me know. I would be curious to know more Whitwell's. My grandmother is Olive Patricia (Pat) Whitwell Brown from and now resides in CA. My mother and unlce are decendants of that line. My 1st cousin once removed, my great unlce's only son is Furman "Reade" Whitwell V. It would be fun to know of people of interest.
