Hi - I just sent you a message on Ancestry.com. Please check your Ancestry messages and let me know if you can help. I'm looking for information on Abigail Wilbor (born about 1768), daughter of Joseph Wilbor and Mary Sterns. She was married to Ephraim Knapp and they had a son named Joshua but I'm trying to find records to verify that. Thanks in advance for your help!

Harriet Wilbur m. Cyrus K. Anderson

Hello, I have reached a dead end on Harriet Wilbur, who married Cyrus K. Anderson in the area of Buffalo, New York, in about 1839 (she was his third wife). I have a picture with a note that she was born 1822, died 1860. She and Cyrus moved to Chicago shortly after marriage and I think she died in Elgin, Kane County, Illinois (I have them in the census). They were likely involved in the temperance movement. Any suggestions for where to look for leads on Harriet's family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What riches! Please do scan them.

Joseph C. Wilbur was Dwight Locke Wilbur's father.

Clarinda Colburn's (Mrs Dwight Wilbur)father and a brother had the name of David. So that letter could be to either. Not sure who the J.M Colburn or Gilbert Coats are...

Orlando R. Wilbur was Dwight Locke Wilbur's brother. He lived in Ohio.

Louisa Rebecca Wilbur (Joseph Cephus Wilbur's and Clarinda Colburn's daughter and Dwight Locke's sister) married Charles J. Holcomb in 1864. She lived in Ohio and died in 1910. She and Charles had two sons Virgil and Frank.

Hi Elizabeth,
William Elbert Wilbur, Sr's father was William John Wilbur (born 1857, not sure if he was adopted). His (WEW, Sr) mother was Emily Wilbur b 1857 also (maiden name Wilbur, her dad was Alfred Rufus Wilbur b 1828 and her mom was Francis (?Hubbard)). Both William John Wilbur and Emily Wilbur are found in San Bernadino County census's 1910 and 1920. At the time, their oldest daughter Francis lived with them (WEW Sr's oldest sister). A great book about the New Brunswick family history is "Ye Wilbores All" by M. Verne MacDonald and Maxwell M. MacDonald.
Sabrina (PS Jack Wilbur was my dad's older brother-WEW Sr remarried Meta Schmidt after Nellie Lindley died and had 2 more children)

Doing some internet research on Cuba I came upon this New York Times June 28, 1922 article which I thought might be of interest to a Wilbur family member.

Headline: American Girl At Sea Lands Here British

The article is about the at sea wedding of Virginia Wilbur to a British citizen Charles A Wainright. She was a nurse and he was an engineer for the United Fruit Company in Preston Cuba.

Here is the link:
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F20D16F639551...

I have a copy of the Trail Tales too from Boonsboro (Boone) Iowa. It does have a great deal of information about Dwight, Edna and their children: Curtis, Louise, Bertha, Ray, Celia and Theresa Wilbur. As well as Dwight's sister Julia Wilbur Griffee and parents: Joseph Cephus Wilbur and Clarinda Colburn.

If memory serves I may also have a issue of Trail Tales which was published in Boone Iowa in the 1800’s that has a article about Dwight. Seems I recall he was a doctor or something of the sort. I will look and see if I can find that also and copy it. The only reason I have this picture is that my grandfather collected stamps and there is a stamp on the back of the picture.

Jennie V. (Martense) Wilbur and Anna M. Wilbur

In a flea market today, I found an old photo of 4 generations of women. Further research indicates that they were from Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. Their names and info I've found about them:

- Ann (Schenck) Ditmas, b. 9/16/1799 (she was the wife of Henry S. Ditmas, who owned the old Ditmas homestead in Flatbush)

- Jane Ann (Ditmas) Martense, her daughter, b. 1820, wife of Gerret Martense

- Jennie V. (Martense) Wilbur, her grand-daughter, b. February 1846, wife of Lionel Wilbur

- Anna M. Wilbur, her great grand-daughter, b. August 1875.

This photo dates from the 1880's, based on the ages of the women, my best guess is around 1885 or so. If anyone is related to any of these women, contact me and I will send a scan of the photo, which is one of those photos of cardboard thickness.

Wilbur family of Franklin Co. Maine

I believe that my gr. great Grandmother was a Mary Wilbur who was the first wife of Josiah Mooers of Madrid, Maine. Her parents were Henry and Elizabeth Wilbur who were in the 1850 census as living in Madrid, Maine. My great grandfather, Daniel Moores at age 15, was living with the Wilburs. They had two other residents in their home, obviously their chilren Elizabeth Wilbur, age 17, and Daniel Wilbur, age 20. Daniel Moores was the son of their daughter, Mary. Does anyone have any information about this family?
