Hi.
Just came across your post. A bit late I know but if it helps:
Robert & Elizabeth had four children that I know of: William born abt. 1838, Hannah born abt. 1840, Thomas born abt. 1847, & Edward W. born abt. 1852.
I have no knowledge of their being a son called John.
(Thomas was my paternal G. Grandfather).
I think Robert & Elizabeth married at St Chad's in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in November or December 1832.
Still looking for Elizabeth's & Roberts parents.

Thomas john porter is my grandfather's grandfather. Not sure what he did to get sent out here. His old property still exists in Boorowa, by the name of Suffolk Vale. The original barn he built is still standing. He was transported here in 1837 on the Lloyds.

Hi Phil I am also researching the wildings from Radnorshire, Wales. To New Jersey usa
With help I think I have found six generations of wildings from Radnorshire and now am tracing myself to them. My great x4 grand farther was the brother of rev George C Wilding, but I have found a few other wildings from Wales with no connection. I have some information you can have if they are the same wildings. Simon p.s. my e-mail is simon2863@aol.com
Hi,

that would be great. I only have a questionnaire filled by a Mildred Wilding Stursberg and a Census as sources for this family branch.

According to my information Peter and Sarah had seven children:
- Anna (born abt 1889)
- Marie (born abt 1891) married with Edward May
- Frederick George (born 5/31/1893) married with Mildred Mary Muller
- Frances (born abt 1896)
- Edwin (born 1/31/1899)
- Maude (born abt 1901) married with Arthur Zenkert)
- Christian (born abt 1908)

If you find any relatives in that list, please contact me at ullrich@wilding.de. However, if you are a descendant of a German Wilding I would like to know more about you and your ancestors.

Kind regards,

Ullrich

Hi Tim,
Thanks for info on the above Wildings. Very interesting. I wonder what happened to Jane and why she wasn't buried in the grave with mum and dad. Very sad.

I think if I have done the tree correctly I am desended from Henry and Jennet Wilding. They had quite a few children and Joseph was one of them, he married Margaret Iddon and they also had a lot!! One of them was Josiah who married Mary Ann Todd and (I hope you not dozing off yet!!)
one of their children was Christina Wilding and that was my nana, my fathers mum. Phew!.
Henry would have been my great, great, great grandfather.
Its a bit mind blowing this ancestry thing, to find out someone else is following your family tree.
Again if I have done this right I found out last week that one of my ancestors followed the church of latter day saints religion and went to America to live the life there in Salt Lake city. They were one of the first to be baptised in the River Ribble.

Were William and Ellen part of your tree? I can't find them on my tree yet but that doesn't mean that they aren't there somewhere.

Once again thanks for taking the time to reply to my query and I hope we can be in contact again soon,

Best wishes

Sherry
Hello again Sherry,

I've got a bit more time now, so here goes.

I'm not a descendant of William and Ellen but I *am* descended from Wildings who lived in Longton, and I believe that I am a 2nd cousin 4 times removed of William.

During the research of my tree I visited the church and found the memorial you mention. And my curiosity was piqued - I was expecting some kind of horrible accident, but this wasn't the case. They have consecutive entries in the death registers - nos 446 and 447.

William died first - of phthisis. Ellen died in childbirth with their third child - Jane. The same informant - Robert Morris - is mentioned on both entries. Jane survived for a few months and was baptised in Longton on 28th of February - the same date on which her parents were buried.

So all in all it's not the most cheerful story on my tree!

Are you connected with the family? It would be good to hear from anyone with connections to the Longton/Penwortham Wildings - especially as I treat genealogy as an autumn/winter activity and I'm about to get started again.

Best wishes, Tim Wilding

Thank you for taking the time to post this message Pauline. I would love any info you have abut this family. They are really hard for me to trace from the U.S. I do think that Robert Wilding's father was John because we have a pocket watch with Robert John, Robert, and John engraved on it with the dates of when we think they became 'doctors' or 'licensed apothecaries' or whatever they called it back then. I can't find any info on John Wilding and was wondering if you had any suggestions on where to look. Thanks, Laura
I am also looking for Robert's brother- Richand Wilding's son John Wilding who married Jane Sansome. We have photos of what I believe are their children: Richard, Edward, also a "Nellie" Wilding (born1876), and a photo of two girls "Betty"(b.1886) and "Mollie"(b.1885) Which may be Elizabeth and Mary Wilding. I found the two girls in a convent school called St Monica's in Skipton in the 1891 census and the 1901 census at a different convent near Skipton. Looking for relatives to connect with because my Wilding line is hard to trace back. I have other photos from Blackburn area which may be identified with help from others.

Hi,
Robert Wilding born 1801-1861 married Ellen (Helena) Alexander in Blackburn Cathederal on 12.1.1832 by licence with the consent of Margret Crook.
They had the following children:- Ann Mary 1833-1852, Robert John 1836-1839, Margret Helen 1837-1844, Alice 1838-1933, Jane Eliza 1840-1840, Robert John 1842-1904 and Joseph 1842-1844. Out of the 7 children only two survived.
Alice never married and you have the info about Robert John.

Robert Wilding, the father, was a surgeon and after his death, probate was granted in August for his Estate which was for under £2000. A sizable sum at the time. His daughter Alice still lived in the same house in the 1861 census and her occupation was 'A Lady' and she had two servants. I believe that the father of this Robert was a John Wilding but I haven't yet found this birth.
I am not related to this family but have done this research for a project on houses in King Street, Blackburn and Robert Wilding is mentioned in the rates for one of the houses.
Good luck,
Pauline in Lancashire, England
Dear Sir,

My name is Phil Wilding and for the past 20 yrs have been tracing various branches of my family tree. One branch however has caused me many problems and that branch is my own surname. My Great great Grandfather was Thomas Wilding, born c.1819, I believe that this Thomas was the son of Thomas and Ellen Porter, i think, LOL ! I would be grateful if you could please contact me. Maybe our conversation will end years of research for me.

I am a bit confused though whether Thomas ws born in 1783 son of Richard at Lavenham or in 1781 son of Edward at Lavenham, Your thoughts would be welcom. My theory is on my ancestry Meurer tree.
John Cherry

Hi
My mother's maiden name was Wilding and there are many similarities between our tree and the Wildings mentioned in your tree. However, I have the Wilding family Bible from Frederick Wilding b.24 Feb 1841. In this it states that he married Elizabeth Jane King born 14 Aug 1842 Chelsea. They married at St. Paul's, Knightsbridge and I have obtained a copy of this certificate. They had 10 children who are listed in the bible with exact dates of birth. Arthur Wilding was born 22 Dec.1877.

Children Frederick Wilding b.1864 died 10 Aug.1867 and Harriett Mary b.1869 died 12 Sept. 1870. In the Bible, there was mention of a James Henry King who died in 1875 and I have his copy death certificate stating he was 35 when he died of cancer. A contact has confirmed that he was a brother of Elizabeth Jane King. The father of Frederick Wilding b.1841 was John Wilding born 1811 in Bristol. He was a carver and gilder and died 1897. Elizabeth Jane King's father was George King 1817 - 1871 and her mother, Mary Ann Heath (1814) from Alton.

James Wilding b.27 July 1875 was my grandfather and he died on 12 Nov.1933. His grave is in West Norwood cemetery. As far as his brother John William b. 16 July 1872 is concerned, I have no knowledge of him dying on the same day nor him living in West Norwood. However, he was married to Alice Biss. My brother and I lost our mother in 2006 and when we unearthed various photos and certificates with the bible, my search began!

I do have a lot of research to do on this family but I have to admit I have been concentrating on my father's side which has been problematic.

I look forward to hearing from you with your comments which might help in my research.

best wishes, Diane

William James Wilding - Australia

I am looking for information on the above. What I have already is that he married Mary Cecilia Weldon in 1897 in Victoria, Australia. They had 2 children that I know of Viola Nellie in 1898 and Mary Thelma Loralei in 1899. I am particularly interested in Viola as she married my great-grandfather when they were both in their 40's and that is the last information I have about him (and that was hard enough to find). It was William David Shaw Walker that she married and it was his second marriage after a previous divorce. My grandfather has no idea what happened to his dad and I'd love to find out for him.
William and Viola were both living at 4 Shirley Road, Roseville in 1942 when they married and Mary Cecilia, Viola and Mary Thelma were all living at same address in the 1936 Electoral rolls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated for any of the above people. With the exception of Mary Thelma they all appear to have died after 1977 when the historic NSW index search ends or they died in another state.
Thanks in advance.
Abigail

It is quite possible we are related; however, James Wilding
is a very common name and there are 3 born in the district
of Leigh in June of 1920.
I cannot come quite that far down--but I have a William
Wilding birth reg Mar Qtr 1893 at Bedford Leigh son of
Charles Wilding and Hannah Clare. He had brothers James and Fred(mar Millie Dagger 1920) and sisters Mary Annie,Edna, and Nellie(mar Edward Marsh 1932). If these
sound familiar to you at all, please let me know. The
best thing to do would be to get a birth certificate for
your James and then a marriage certificate for his father,
William from the GRO. This would get you back before the
1901 census which would make things much easier to trace.
