I just stumbled upon this message. Are the above on your family tree? Albert Wilhelme was an uncle to my mother. How did the mother of the groom become "Ellen". In the family records I have, her name is Dorothea Eilor (Eiler?). Would it be possible for you to send to me a copy of the document you have? I've just gotten into this genealogy craziness and I'm not sure how to go about it all! I am actually trying to trace the Wilhelme's back to somewhere in Germany but it's hard! I'll share whatever I have that might interest you.

John and Gertrude (Waldecker) came to MIchigan and came over from Germany in 1852 from Duengunhime near Coblence Germany. (Spelling is not correct on the names of the town). They had 9 or so children the oldest was Andrew. Andrew married Laura Knorfky and they had 9 children. The youngest was Francis C. Wilhelme and he married Mary Eleanor Berry. They had two children Laura (me) and Francis C. Jr. All these settled in Dearborn Michigan and attended Sacred Heart Church. Andrew left the farm and went to Detroit lived on Lansing Ave.and attended Holy Redemer Church in Det.

I received your message today on the research you and I are doing on the Wilhelme name. I believe so far we are not related but who knows? For my family we know that booth the Wilhelmes and the Waldeckers both came from Duengenhime (Spelling)??? Koblaze ?? area and came here in 1852. I am very early in my research and do not know where they landed before comming to Dearborn Michigan to homestead. Thanks for the message and good luck on your journey of rearch on the Wilhelmes I will keep you posted if I get any more information that looks like we are related. None of the names and places you mentioned were famillar to me.

Willhelme / Wilhelme

I am also trying to research the Wilhelme family. In some of the records I have gathered I have seen several different spellings of the name, Willhalme/Willhelme/Wilhelme and willhalen. My great, great grandfather was Dedrick Wilhelme, born about 1810 in Rortherdown Germany (not exactly sure of the spelling). He married Mary Schmidt in London about 1834. They had 11 children : Elizabeth, Mary, Henry born 1838, Frederick born 1841, Catherine, Sarah born 1845, Olive/Olied born 1847, Jane, my great grandmother, born 1849 in Wellington New Zealand,Louisa born 1853, Anna/Annie born 1858 in Williamstown, Australia, and lastly Richard born 1860 also in Williamstown Australia.
Dedrick died on 14th September 1890 and is buried here in Australia about 45 miles from where I live. The Wilhelme name is not very common in Australia. I did make a contact with some people here, whom I proved to be related, but they were not interested in the least which makes it very difficult. You stated that your Wilhelme's were from Germany, I wonder if there may be a connection. But, I suppose it is a very common name over there.
Regards Hazel. Australia.
