so sorry no help. My Wilkins, louis,Lewis...born approx 1820 Tennessee. Died 1860-1870 Coal Hill Arkansas. He was previously married with 2-3 children. girls I believe. Total dead end other than marriage in Arkansas to Louvenia Overby, my gggrandmother. Per a cousin, Louis and Louvenia are buried in Brown Cemetary in same area as Coal Hill. The graves do not have head stones. No info there. My family has been looking for the alusive Louis for several years. There have been rumors that my Wilkins line came from Wales. not sure how reliable the info is. If you run into Louis in your search, I sure would love to find him.

The Wilkins name isn't familiar to me. I'm looking for the Jacob Franklin Herrington/Harrington & his wife Barbara Alice Wagner Herrington/Harrington. There is a private family tree on Ancestry and the contact is per3608. Since it's private, I can't contact the owner. I'm attempting to find out who the owner of that tree is so I can correspond with them. On a May 10, 2007 I found per3608 and don't know if it is you or if it was someone responding to you.

Re: WILKINS

Hello
I believe you must be Jean Wilkins, dau of William Jesse Wilkins.

I have been studying the Wilkins families of southern England for a number of years. If I have the correct data, then William Jesse was the son of William John Wilkins (b. Redhill, Surrey in the June Quarter of 1874) and his wife Edith Young (also b.1874 in Clerkenwell, London).

Her parents were Charles Alfred Young and Ann Jayne Young (maiden name as yet unknown). Edith's baptism record is in the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) on 12 April 1874 at St Marks, Shoreditch, London.

William John Wilkins was in turn the son of William T. Wilkins (b.abt 1839 in Charlwood, Surrey), and so it goes back a further 6 generations to 1685 to the earliest record Emery Wilkins of Ifield, Sussex.

Surrey and Sussex are counties south of London. William John W was a bricklayer; I don't know about the others.
There are some doubts about the exact birth dates of William Jesse and his sisters. Are you able to help ?

The family moved from Surrey to Middlesex. In 1901 they were living at 30 Green Lane Hanwell Middlesex (Hanwell is just west of London).

The Ellis Island immigration files show that they entered the USA on 5th May 1907.

Please tell me more about the Canadian army connection. The Canadian National Archives have this record:

WILKINS, WILLIAM JOHN	04/04/1874 2497798	RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 10365 - 62

William Jesse would have been too young to join up.

Yours sincerely
Adrian Wilkins, Bristol, England

This string was started long ago so I don't know if any of you are still members! However, Emma Jane Wilkins was my Great Great Grandmother. Last week, in Ft. Collins, I took pictures of her grave as well as the grave shared by Eli Wilkins and Susan Wilkins. I am grateful to have the information you all have listed already and would love to have more and contribute what I know as well.
We are all God's DNA and genealogy is just an attempt...Those who put in
falsified info are destroying the fact that missing links are just that...
When there is no male heir the line stopped...even for Kings and Queens..
People know that the 1st born son inherited and the old names were used in every family...and neighbors married for property...but wars and disasters have destroyed original documents...
Someone is cutting and pasting documents and
writing insulting words like colored and
suggesting burial sites like Pakistan and other nonsense...

If the document is not there do not make one up.....

Do not just copy like I did from a tree and unless you know the person do not trust the document info...some people are paid to make up the missing links to present a tree for someone I guess...others are just creating mischief...and making up outrageous nonsense...

If you find an error...help others...look at the document do not just copy and if you know the truth...please help others and correct errors on the page for others...

No one knows the missing links

For over 40 years I have seen the transcription errors...but to blatantly photoshop cut and past

Thank you for writing. I think we made contact last year and exchanged some information but it appears you have found more. I am looking for the birth record for Cynthia Wilkins Osborn, daughter of Asa Wilkins Jr. and Meriam Cooley; born 1803 or 1804. I've contacted Fairfax, VT and she was not listed. Have you been in touch with A Brad Wilkins through this site? He is a descendant through Robert (son of Asa Sr.)

Asa was born in August 5, 1757 in Amherst, Hillsborough County, NH to Daniel Wilkins and Lucy Bradford. He enlisted in the military in March of 1776 for ten months, then reenlisted in May 1777 and was discharged on March 15, 1780. He married Alice Kendall on January 30, 1781 in Groton, Mass. Alice was born May 10, 1757 in Mass. Alice died on June 6, 1814 and is buried in the Mudgett Cemetery in Fairfax, Vt. Asa Wilkins is buried in Stockton, New York. He died on February 24, 1836 and is buried with James and Algeline Wilkins. Next to them are buried Robert, Betsey and Orpha Wilkins. Robert and James were sons of Asa and Alice. Now all of Asa and Alice's children: John (1795-1866), James (1793 -1871),Robert Bradford (1784-1859), Daniel (1781-),Asa Jr. (1783-) married Meriam Cooley on November 12, 1801 in Fairfax, VT., Polly (1791 - 1838), Alice (1786 -), Hannah (1782 - 1807, and Lucy (1798 - ), I believe I come down through James. I do not have proof of either Robert or James being the father of Cordello. I am not sure what your question is but hope I have given enough information that has answered what ever you are looking for.

I just went onto the website during their free weekend, got interested and then happened upon your info request via Google. Anyway, Daniel F. Wilkins and Clara B.
No I don't think there's a connection, not close one anyway. My Joseph and his family were builders/bricklayers/carpenters.

What I have now put together is:
Thomas Wilkins born about 1801 Brinklow.
Marries Mary Webb (daughter of Thomas Webb and Frances) 10 April 1822.
Children:
Elizabeth (from census birth about 1821?)
Joseph 19 March 1823 Coventry - 10 September 1906 Waikoukou, Auckland, New Zealand
Frances Webb 19 May 1825 Coventry
Benjamin ? August 1827
Ebenezer 25 October 1829

Thomas then marries Catharine (born about 1796 Attleborough)
Child:
Hannah born 17 September 1835

Joseph marries Sophia Clews April 1946 (daughter of Thomas Clews and Elizabeth Bosworth)
Children: Mary Ann, Benjamin, Marcus and Joseph all born Foleshill, Annie Sophia born Coventry and Sophia Elizabeth born Auckland. (I have full details for these children and many of their desendents)

Benjamin (Joseph's brother) marries Hannah (born about 1825 Foleshill)
Children: Willianm, Thomas, Elizabeth and Lucy

The family were Non-Conformists.
My wife has some WILKINS in her ascent. They could be related to you but not necessarily. Here goes:

William WILKINS b abt 1789 in Warwickshire (1841 census so only county of birth and age 52 to nearest 5 years below) married Mary JEFFS on 20 Dec 1806 at Wappenbury (to the south of Coventry and within 10 miles of Foleshill). I know of three children - Elizabeth b abt 1814, Joseph b abt 1822, and Harriet b abt 1826.

Elizabeth married William STARKEY on 20 May 1838 at Leamington Priors, Warwickshire; her father was then recorded as a labourer and in 1841 he was an ag. lab. residing at Priory lodge, Princethorpe (abt 2 miles from Wappenbury).

In 1841 census Joseph WILKINS aged 19 was a carter residing with his parents and younger sister at Priory Lodge, Princethorpe.

Asa Wilkins & Alice Kendal

I was able to acquire the town document of the children born to Asa Wilkins and Alice Kendal in New Hampshire just after the Revolutionary War. It gives the birth dates and includes Robert Bradford (son) and Asa Wilkins (son), Daniel (son) and Alice (daughter.) I am unable to attach the document from home, but will do so on Monday. Asa (sr) is included in the Revolutionary War pension papers. Asa (sr), Alice and their son, Asa, moved to Vermont. Asa the son was an officer in the War of 1812. There is confusion because the families would name their children after themselves and/or relatives. I have compiled a thick file from personal research of cemeteries and town records. Asa (the son) married a lady (name not confirmed) and had a daughter, Cynthia. Cynthia married Jedediah Osborn of NH and had 9 children. Jedediah's father, William, fought in the Revolutionary War with Asa Wilkins (sr).

Hi,

I have a copy of a handwritten Wilkins family tree that my great grandfather Milo Bradford Wilkins drew up for the family many years back. At the very top of the tree is a Robert Bradford Wilkins born 25 Jul 1782 and married to a Betsy Crane born 5 July 1786. Despite the different year of birth, I am positive that he is the same Robert Bradford Wilkins you are referring to in this thread. I too saw the 1850 census which indicated that he was 66 and living with an Orpha Wilkins age 80 at the time and I wondered who she was as well.

I did some searching in Ancestry.com and found an entry in a a book titled "Three Blackmore Genealogies" (page 19) that stated Orpha Winchel was the second wife of Robert Bradford. According to the book, this was also Orpha's second marriage. Robert Bradford's first wife was Betsey Crane who died in 1824. However, the book indicates that Robert was born around 1779 and died the same day as Orpha in 1859. Orpha was 88 when she died (born in 1771).

I don't think the birth year of 1779 is correct because of the entry in the 1850 census, which puts in date of birth at 1784. In either case Robert Bradford married a much older woman (I wonder what he saw in her :-).

I have a screen print of the page from the book (attached) and am willing to share the copy of the handwritten Wilkins family tree. I also have some photos of Wilkins men from the 1860's and later.

I've just started working on the Wilkins Family tree and any information, documents and photos you might have on the family would be greatly appreciated.

One of the problems I'm running into is that there are a lot of Wilkins men with the name Robert Bradford (even my own son is named the same) which tends to get confusing.

Have you been able to determine Asa's father and mother? Was it Daniel Wilkins and Lucy Bradford from Amherst, NH? If so Asa's brother Robert Bradford was a very colorful Revolutionary War vetran.

My email address is: A.Brad.Wilkins@gmail.com
Thanks

Re: Wilkiins - German > NY and MI - mid 1800's > Niagara Co., NY

I am searching for Mary C? Wilkins born in Germany about 1850. I do not know if she married in NY or Germany - the first time - to Mr. Warner. She had one daughter Lena Warner before marrying Roland G. Jones of Marcy, NY in 1879. She had 2 children with Mr. Jones. After his death, all three children were placed in an orphanage in Utica, NY and Mary (the mom) married Nicholas Bott. The only census record I have found for her is in 1880, Marcy, NY where she is the wife of Roland G. Jones. Lena was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. John Forbes and later married William H. Williams. She is my husband's gr-grandmother born about 1878. I am looking for any information on her parents. A Nicholas Botts is buried in Lafayette, IN but no wife is with him. I have no record of Mr. Warner's first name or what became of him. Any information would be appreciated.

Mary Elizabeth Adams Wilkins was my great grandmother. She ended up in Minnesota where I was born in 1944.My grandmother Lucille Adams Watson was born to her first husband who died in 1903. I was born after Mary's death but my Aunt remembers her. Mary was a cook for the Mason's in Mpls. She had eight children 4 from each husband. I have a picture of her with the Wilkins family taken around 1925
