Help with - Daniel Williamson and Jane Williamson of Benton County Iowa

I have researched and confirmed my branch of the Williamson family up until Daniel Williamson (1825-1911) and Jane Yerkes Williamson (1834-1920). These names and dates have been confirmed from their grave marker. However I cannot seem to find any connections beyond Daniel. Daniel was born in Montgomery, Ohio and later moved to Benton County Iowa. There is mention of parents named Ellis (short for?) and Sophia Williamson in a typed transcription of the obituary of Daniel that I found online. I have not been able to find any information on either of them with the correct dates of birth to be the parents of Daniel.

The connections made by other family members on this site are incorrect as the parents connected to Daniel were born about the same time as Daniel was. I believe this family (Elisha and Sophia)were connect in error because of their son Daniel born 1845.

I am hoping that there is someone here that has perhaps run into Daniel's parents through an unknown (to me) sibling. I would apreciate ANY information!

Here is my family line if it would be helpful.
Leslie Williamson (me)
Leslie Williamson (my father)
Paul Raymond Williamson (1904-1968)
Leroy Oliver Williamson 1873-1954)
Daniel Williamson (1825-1911)

Looking for Suella, sister of my Great Grandfather. I am trying to find out who she married and what happend to her. I know she was living when her mother passed away in 1912. Her parents were Anslem Morgan Williamson & Felicia Ann Irby. She has a namesake, a sister of her father born 1830 is not the same Susan Ella. She possibly could have migrated to Louisiana with some of her siblings and mother. The family lived in Rankin & Simpson Co., MS & some siblings migrated to Winn Parish, LA.

Re: Williamson and Donlevey

I am updating with a little more information I've found. Carrie Rebecca Donlevy died 8 Jul 1921 in her daughter Carrie's house in Terre Haute, Vigo, Indiana. On the death record, "John D Levy" is listed as her father. The death record also shows her birth date as 12 Aug 1852 (I did not yet have the exact day). There is 1 John Donlevy living in Geneva during that time period (I've yet to find Carrie on any records he pops up on). He lives very near a James Donlevy and was naturalized in the same year, which leads me to believe they are brothers. John was born in 1817 Ireland and James was born abt 1820 Ireland. John seems to have stayed in Geneva until his death (before 1897 according to a news article), living in a house on North Main Street; neither he nor his brother, nor his brother's family were literate. In the 1860 census, James has a wife named Mary, also from Ireland, and 2 sons: Francis "Frank" b. 1850, and John Jr. b. 1855. James, at some point, moved the family to Oconto, Wisconsin. That I still can find no record of Carrie Rebecca, born 1852, is very frustrating. If this was her family, she should've shown up on the 1860 census. . . I've ordered info about James and John's naturalizations, as well as John's will, so when I get that info, hopefully things will be a bit clearer. Will update when they come in.

Hi Cathy, Thanks for your reply I was very excited to hear that we may be related. Yes our William died in 1864 but unfortunately we havent been able to get anymore info on him, that is actually as far back as we have been able to get. I would really like to talk to you about our family to see where we connect. My cousin has traced 27 Williamson lines so maybe you are part of one of them. Would you mind getting back in touch with me and give me a brief lineage of yourself. Thanks so Much, Sue Williamson (Toronto Canada)

If your manage to trace any descendants of Frances Mildred Bannerman and Robert James Kay Ross then he would be very interested in making contact with them to see what may have passed down about the family of Frances' adoptive parents, the main focus of our interest.

Hi Tim,
I am also researching my grandmothers family who are from Cheshire. My Great Great Grandfather was Nicholas WILIAMSON b.5 Jun 1812 in Nantwich, his wife as Hester ANKERS b.24 Mar 1812 in NANTWHICH, they married on 8 April 1833 in Nantwich. They came to Australia on 23 Aug 1849 on the 'ELIZA'. I do have quite a large family tree but, only have dates for three generations of males & can only go back to begin with Nicholas & Hester. Does any of this correspond with what you have. are you able to help me go back further or could you put me in contact with any other person who may be able to help? Regards-Diane Speedie. P.S. My grandmother was Hetty May WILLIAMSON.

My name is Linda (McDonald) Smith and I tie into the Williamson tree at Charles Williamson born about 1754-1760 in Henrico County, Va. He married Mary Polly Stanley about 1754 or 1764. Does this fit into your history? If so I would love to have a copy of your information for the above dates or if possible, further back in time. Please let me know if it at least "fits". Thanking you in advance--Linda Smith my e-mail is: mousie6@suddenlink.net Thanks again--

This is an obit from the 18 Dec 1910 Jacksonville FL Times Union. It has hand written on it "West Palm Beach" (I think Woodlawn is another name for Evergreen cem in Jacksonville, but there are alot of Woodlawn cem's. Use w/ caution):
The funeral of Mr Emory T Williamson was held this afternoon in Woodlawn cemetery. Mr Williamson was born in Flora College, NC and was 57 years of age. He leaves (unnamed, naturally) a wife and two children. Funeral arrangements were in charge of McGinley Bros.
(In 1910 Emery and Hellen Williamson are living in West Palm with sons Geo (15) and Paul (12) who were b in FL. This is Emery's 2nd marriage and of 16 yrs durations; it is Hellen's first marriage of the same length of time and she is the mother of two (both living) children.
Brother in law Michael Donovan, 35, (from Ireland as is Hellen) lives with them.

Re: Williamson Family Tree

Hi Wendy – thanks for your reply. My GGFather was Thomas Williamson (b. 24 May 1864, England) and I believe his middle name may have been either Theodore or Theophilus and was a professor of music, majoring in the pipe organ and piano. About 1898 Thomas immigrated to Canada from England and for some reason (yet unknown) changed his name to Theodore Theophilus or Theophilus Theodore and was then known to all as Professor TT. What I have determined about his immediate family in England is that he had many brothers and sisters (about 18 in all). His father, mother and one brother were originally from Antrim, Ireland. His father was Rev. John Williamson, later Vicar/Bishop of St. Andrews in England; Rev. John’s father was also John and it’s presumed may have also been a clergy. Thomas’ mother was Mary Ann/Anne Cassidy and her father was Robert Cassidy. Of Thomas’ siblings, that I know, they are as follows: Robert (b. abt 1861, Ireland), Martin (b. abt. 1866, England), Maude (b. abt 1868, England), Charles (b. abt 1870, England, d. Feb 1936, England), Gertrude (b. ab. 1874), Ann/Annie).

Oral family history knows that one of Thomas’ brothers was a Sea Captain of a ship and he died at sea when his ship “went down” off Cape Horn (this may have been Robert, but not proven). Martin was the owner and operator of 2 haberdashery shops (men’s clothing stores) in Liverpool, England (confirmed by family letters). Charles was a member of the British Royal Dragoons (5th or 6th) and was apparently well known and decorated (according to his obituary). Charles may have spent military time in India or during the Boer War; the circumstances regarding his military career is vague. Gertrude may have married an “American” and moved the United States. Ann/Annie Williamson was primarily known to Thomas as “Annie” as I have a picture of her with her name written on the back.

Does any of the above information “connect” with others in your “Williamson Family Tree” or anyone else who may be reading this posting? Dates of birth and death for all.Ester Barlow-his second wife...as I read this...Eli Howard Williamson..son of Joseph and Mary, born Nov. 28th, 1840, married Jane Hunt born June 9th, 1842, married April 9th, 1863..had Martha Cora Williamson, born March 30th, 1864, Emma Agnes Williamson born Sept. 1st, 1865, Jennie MAUD Williamson born March 5th, 1874 and THOMAS Howard Williamson born Oct. 21st, 1882...Joseph (son of Mary and Robert) married a Jane Conltiff and had 12 children. Okay...I just figured out why he had this tree..it belonged to his Grandmother...Joslyn Family and Gibson Family as well..does this sound like your family?..It was written by Cora Williamson Crouch...I had totally missed the last page..let me know if this involves your family and I will be happy to send it to you...Wendy

This rings a bell! - Any idea what Mary's last name was? is there a family of 18 (+/-) with John Williamson as the Head (he was a vicar/reverend) and some of his children were Robert, Thomas, Martin, Maude, Charles, Gertrude and Ann/Annie (not in that order)? I descend from Thomas.

Williamson Family Tree

Hello..my name is Wendy and I have my own tree on Ancestry. I have been sorting thru many, many papers I have gathered and found a family tree that was in my step fathers possession and found it after he died. It is beautifully hand written..and titled "Williamson-Four generations of Williamson Family from 1744-1908-One Hundred and sixty four years." I am trying to find someone who is doing genealogy that this belongs to. It starts with a Robert Williamson baptised June 22, 1744-Married Mary. They had a lot of children, Mary died and he married Ester Barlow...skipping thru several pages...Eli Howard Williamson, son of Joseph and Martha, born Nov. 28, 1840-Married Jane E. Hunt Born June 9th, 1842-date of marriage April 9th, 1863...Eli died May 28th, 1928. I am hoping this rings a bell for someone and perhaps you can direct me to someone I can send this to. There is an emormous amount of information. It is sad when I find these papers and photos and I know there is someone out there that they belong to. Sincerely,Wendy Deakins

I am trying to fill in a few blanks with my Williamson family tree. Most of the family seemed to live in Southhold, New York but many of the children moved to Brooklyn.
I am trying to find information on two of Daniel Y & Emma (Smith) Williamson children
Charles Williamson born abt 1857
also a daughter born abt 1844
one census has a daughter named Julia
while another census has a daughter named Matilda
both girls years of birth are about 1844 so I'm not certain if this is two different children or possibly the same child but maybe a first name on one census and a middle name on another?? The other siblings are
Mary Melvina (Williamson) Case
George H Williamson
Betsey H (Williamson) Case
Ella E (Williamson) Price
Robert S Williamson

Any information on any of these family members would be greatly appreciated!!
Tracy
