Jack, I am descended from these Windsors and would like to know more about this whaling voyage. What was the ship and what year was Samuel Windsor listed on the crew. Could you tell me the source?

Jackie, please contact me as well regarding Ananias and Cavanaugh Windsor. I am descended from the older Ananias who is the brother of Samuel.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to check out the Find a Grave site. I may have another lead from this family in Mauston WI. There is a grave site that is a Winser just like Olney at White Store. I believe he may be connected to the Col. Stephen line as well as George B

It's been a long time since this was written, but just thought I'd mention that nearly the entire White Store Cemetery (formerly White Store Cemetery) is photographed and documented by headstones on findagrave.com. This includes SO many family members in the Winsor clan. The other cemetery, not so well photographed but duly documented at this time, is The Sunset Hill Cemetery in Guilford, Chenango Co, NY.

findagrave.com is totally free and my research on the Winsors (husband's direct line comes from Colonel Stephen Winsor & wife Nancy Cook). Best Wishes and hope this helps (if you read it!)
Not sure if there is a connection here or not, but I have been searching for a Marcellus Windsor (b.ca 1801-1810, d. ca 1838). I know your Eleanor Windsor married a Bailey, but she had a son named Marcellus - and the son might have been named for a brother. It is a very unusual name. My Marcellus ended up in Northumberland County, VA on the Northern Neck. If you have any information that would connect your Eleanor to my Marcellus, please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Karen,

My ggg Grandfather was Thomas Windsor (he married Rebecca Truss in Reading in 1822). I don't have his parents details but have thought for a while that his father was Eusebius! The dates fit well.
Thos and Rebecca's children were Thomas, Mary, William, Henry, Mary & John. Thomas was my gg Grandfather.

There is more than one Euesbius, and many Windsor family groups around the Windsor/Maidenhead/Slough area.

Feel free to email me on douglc@hotmail.com or call me on 01628-620234 (evenings). To see if we are both on the same trail.

Kind regards,
Doug Courtney

Also, I dont' have the actual census, I just have the index, but your Richard Windsor and William Windsor are in the 1841 and 1851 census of Yeovil, Somerset Co. England, probably with their parents.

Your William appears in the 1861 Yeovil census, but I don't see Richard listed. It is possible Richard had already come to America by then and William later joined him.

Jim Windsor

Thanks.

In the Fulton County Postcards website.there was an obituary for a woman who was the sister of the wife of Richard Windsor. Richard's wife was Sarah Ricketts. The obituary mentioned the Ricketts family came from Yeovill, England. I was not sure whether to mention that in my earlier post since it referred to the Ricketts and not the Windsor famaily, but then maybe you found other information connecting the Windsors to Yeovill. Glad I could help.

Jim Windsor

Your William Windsor, born c1842, in England, was listed in the 1880 census as a glove maker.

There was also a Richard Windsor in 1880 census Fulton Co. New York, Johnstown. He was born in 1835; d. 1902. He was also listed in that census as a glove maker.

The proximity of location and that both were glove makers, obviously implies a close connection, probably brothers. The most telling fact is that your William and Richard and their families are buried right next to each other in the Johnstown Cemetery:

1479 WINDSOR, Fred E., 1879 - 1941

WINDSOR, Maud L. BUTTS, 1877 - 1940, His wife

WINDSOR, Harry A., 1877 - 1945

WINDSOR, Maude AL'LINGTON, 1877 - 1944

WINDSOR, Richard, 1835 - 1902 "Father"

WINDSOR, Jennie R. RICKETTS, 1843 - 1935, "Mother", His wife

HARE, George V. V. 1873 - 1939

HARE, Nellie 1875 - 1910

HARE, Edmund W.. 1902 - 1914, Son of George V. V. & Nellie Hare

1480 WINDSOR, William F., August 6, 1841 - April 23, 1910 "Father"

WINDSOR, Arthur A., September 22, 1868 - November 10, 1907 Son of W. F. & S. Windsor

WINDSOR, George W., January 8, 1864 - December 25, 1899 Son of W. F. & S. Windsor

WINDSOR, Charles, December 28, 1884 - August 20, 1890 Son of W. F. & S. Windsor

1501 WINDSOR Richard P. 1891 - 1960
WINDSOR R. James 1861 - 1933
WINDSOR Edith E. HOLMAN 1865 - 1928 Wife of R. James Windsor
WINDSOR Claude E. 1887 - 1911
WINDSOR Pheobe DAVIS 1828 - 1886 "Mother", Wife of Richard Windsor
WINDSOR Adonna Rose 1884 - 1889 Daughter of R. J. & E. E. Windsor

There might have been a sister Windsor involved as well, as a Sarah Windsor who married William R. Spoll is also buried in the Johnstown Cemetery:

1265 SPOLL William R. March 22, 1844 - April 20, 1905 "Father"

SPOLL Sarah Ann WINDSOR July 21, 1845 - September 6, 1918 "Mother"
Wife of William R. Spoll

SPOLL Nellie F. March 10, 1875 - December 11, 1949

SPOLL Gary W. June 5, 1877 - August 24, 1955

There's a wonderful webasite with newspapers online from Fulton Co. New York. You can acutally see the newspapers and do a search of the names you are interested in finding. It's called:

Fulton County Postcards

http://www.fultonhistory.com/

Jim Windsor (so far as is known, I am not related to your Windsor family.)
I have found William and Sarah in the 1880 US Census with eight of their nine children. I cannot however find any records prior. William and Sarah, along with four of the children were born in England, location unknown. I believe they immigrated in 1870. I know one grandson of William (George Raymond Windsor) that resided in Johnstown as well. Hoping someone has info that can help me.
I see you are connected to the TOUZEAU family, aren't you? My link to this family happens through the HUHN SCHIEBLICH family:
My ggrandaunt, ALMA HUHN (German musician) emigrated to Australia in 1974 with her 2nd. husband, Johannes E. Schieblich and 4 children: Franz Ottomar, Auguste 'Katharine', Ernst Eduard and Alma 'Lilli' (violinists) -
Franz O. married a pianist, ADELAIDE IRENE WINDSOR (later she changed for A. RENEE TOUZEAU) and they had 4 children: 2 adopted Touzeau as their name: HENRI TOUZEAU famous cellist, BEATRICE IRENE TOUZEAU (radio artist), and the other 2 kept their father's name FRANZ SYDNEY and GRETCHEN MAUD Windsor SCHIEBLICH (violinists) -

Lilian Wheeler HUHN

Yes we are, and I appreciate any help. I am still working on the Windsor side. My grandmother was a Tucker, but her Mother was a Windsor. My grandpap Murray had a farm down in Croom and they use to visit. My father use to go to that farm where the Indian burial grounds were. The whole family has stories. I am still trying to research parts here and there. Thank you so much for the help.

Jennifer

My Windsor roots are from Nottingham in Prince George's County. My great grandparents are Richard Hamilton Windsor and Rosa Hutchinson. Both are buried in the Epiphany Cemetery. My grandfather is Edmund Lewis Windsor.

There is a Windsor family tree that has been put together. Ellen Moore (my cousin) has the tree. There is also a Windsor family reunion every year usually in September.

It sounds like I must be related to all of you!

Katherine Windsor Bennett

Re: Austin Winzer

Austin Windsor is a difficult one. He was in South Carolina and I think died in Georgia. His descendants went to Georgia, perhaps later to Tennessee, Indiana, etc.

Several people have been trying to find this line for several years. You have probably written them at some point. I don't think any of them have much information either.

Notice the use of the "A" sound as the first letter in the first names of this family. Seems to me to be related to a strong english origin, perhaps a recently immigrated family. Guessing though, one never knows. South Carolina is a strange place to settle in 1759. I don't think the land was much cleared. I think there were still Indians there. Seems to me the white people who came in that early period were generally foreigners.

I think sometimes your Austin Windsor is from the Windsor family of Somerset Co. Maryland, the earliest ancestor there was John Windsor (c1640-c1733) (the one who married Ann Gager). He had a lot of descendants that carried the name WINDSOR or WINSOR. Most of his descendants have to be presumed because there are so many unknown colonial Windsors that cannot be connected to an immigrant ancestor.

I've done a huge amount of research on the descendants of Jarvis Windsor (c1650-c1729) who settled in 1659 in Charles Co. Maryland. That is my direct ancestor, I am his great great great great great great great great great great grandson.

I only research american Windsors, among which are: the Winsors of Massachusetts, the Winsors of Providence, Rhode Island, and the Windsors of Fairfax Co. Virginia. These lines all came in the 1600's to America from England. They all have thousands of descendants.

The John Windsor line of Somerset Co. Maryland is the only line I have not researched, hence my tendency to put any american Windsor, who cannot be proven to have a recent immigration, as probably one of his descendants. Especially those Windsors in South Carolina, Georgia... where it seems a few of the Somerset Co. Maryland Windsors went in the 1700's.

Of course DNA is the way to narrow the search, but it costs money. I would love to do DNA research on the Windsor, but can't really afford to have the test right now.

Good luck with your search, I will contact you if I hear or find anything on Austin Windsor. Likewise/

Thanks,
Jim Windsor

Austin Winzer

Looking for the parents and other children of Austin Winzer who lived and got a 50 acre grant in 1768 in the Long Cane area of SC in the middle 1760's, had a son Anderson Winzer who showed up in Barnwell Co. in 1811. Austin was in St, Davids Parish in 1759 in the Pee Dee area and served in the Fr.-Indian War as a Private in Pledgers Co. Who he married would be important also. Thanks

There were a lot of Windsor's in that area my Father told me. His Aunt Lillian Windsor and her husband lived on the Tobacco farms there for a time. If you can reach her children they would have information for you on that. Several Windsor relatives have been active researching this same information.

Hi Carol, I was reading the comments about your family having nicknames. I think it was a common thing amongst the family. Growing up on the farms in Southern Maryland. My dad and his siblings all got nicknames growing up down in Croom.

I'm not sure if I posted to you on another thread looking for family related to Clara Estelle Windsor, Lawrence Everett Windsor, etc. They are relatives of mine. In fact, I have a picture of my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth(nee Tucker) Murray holding Lawrence Everett Windsor, her nephew.

If you have any information on this family I would love to share.

Jennifer

All from Southern Maryland, Croom area and several are buried at Epiphany Cemetary. I noticed from a lot of information that my Aunt Rose Marie just gave me information about the people you mentioned in this post. PLease get back to me as I am trying to research. I noticed there is a lot of intermarrying in this family. I have many stories about both sides. Get back to me if you have any new information to share.
