Hello there.
Well a brief overview of the Winniatt family.
The winniatts started out as wynniatts in Dymock Gloucestershire. There are still a few wynniatts about in the uk at present.
In the 15th century, some wynniatts moved to the woolhope area and the name changed to winniatt with an i. It appears my wifes descendants left Woolhope near the end of the 18th century to Westbury on severn and then to bristol for about a century. They followed various occupations but there was a strong line in beer selling and brewing. In about 1900 my wifes family moved to south wales where unfortunately the name has now died out with my wifes mother and aunty having the maiden name winniatt.

If you could be a little bit more specific I will have look through my records to see if I can assist you.

regards

J lewis

PS I believe some Winniatts did go to the usa in the 1850's but have very little to go on.

I'd just like to say thank you for that information re the Winniatt family gravestones in Redwood County. Mary Winniatt would have been my great great great aunt!I believe the Winniatts moved from Herefordshire in the UK to Minnesota in the mid 1800's which is why I had no further trace of them in the UK after that time. Any further info gratefully received...
Thanks for your help
