I'm a descendant of some of the Carews. After Thomas Carew, who was born in 1782 and immigrated to Canada, I have only been able to track descendants, but none of his ancestors. A relative of mine went to try to talk to people in the area he was born in, but no one wanted to talk. We aren't sure if they just don't know anything, or if there is a reason. Would you have any ideas?

hello again.

I have secured the information that you need. This from records that I collected thirty years ago. I had intended to write a book on the marriner eliment of the Wembury witheridges.I still might. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas. I hold six or seven generations of her ancesters. If you would like them please contact me on my email address. I will require exchange of information, for the weeks family that married in to the witheridge family. These will be released on a one for one basis.

Wishing you well Mick Witheridge.

hi

I am pleased that you have found the answer that you searched for. I have heard that Kathy Witheridge is guite good in her field. personally I research records prior to the 1300s so I have no connection to the witheridge FHs. In general their researches are not early enough for my needs.

Best of luck Mick

He had a brother named Sir John Trevillian Ceely Weeks (this name has since been carried down thru the family line). Phillip came to America (Maine) from Bristol in 1780.

Thanks agin for the tip!

Hello Mick (and all Witheridge descendants)

There has been a Witheridge Family History Society since 1987, and some members have been researching all branches of the Witheridge/Wetheridge families, their ancestors and descendants, for over 40 years. Visit the Society's website at www.WitheridgeFHS.com.

The Witheridge FHS has members from almost every branch of the Witheridge/edge/age and Wetherideg/edge/age families, as well as Withridge and other variant spellings.

The Witheridge FHS welcomes contact from any descendants, wherever they live, and regardless of whether they still have the Witheridge surname. If you would like help with family history, or would like to meet up with members of the various branches, please make contact via the website.

We have a Witheridge reunion in the UK in May every year. The 2006 reunion is in Somerset. Next year, our 20th Anniversary, we meet in Devon.

Sometimes overseas members of the Witheridge FHS organise reunions in the US, Canada and Australia. Links for these are also available via the website.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

Kim

Witheridge family of Wembury and Plymstock, Devon

Thomas Witheridge, B 19 June 1695 at Wembury, married c1715 Priscilla, but I cannot trace their marriage.
Their children John (1716), Richard (b and d 1719), Richard (1721) and Joseph (1725) were all baptised in Wembury.
In July 1728, Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Witheridge, was baptised in Plymstock. Was this the same Thomas, and if so, did Priscilla originally come from Plymstock? Did they marry there? Priscilla was buried in Wembury in 1754, and was probably born 1688-1698.
In 1753 Thomas's son Joseph (1725) married Elizabeth Boon (1723, daughter of Thomas Boon) in Plymstock, so there were links between the Wembury Witheridges and Plymstock.
Does anyone have access to the Plymstock parish registers for the period? Or is there someone who already has this information on their family tree?

There is some uncertainty about just where this Elizabeth fits in, as there were so many Elizabeth Witheridges in Wembury at that time. However, I can give you quite a bit of information which might be helpful, if you can contact me direct via the Witheridge website at www.WitheridgeFHS.com, and use the link to President.

Do you know who Elizabeth Witheridge married? I am researching an Elizabeth Witheridge born c1731 in Wembury who married John WEEKS. I am particularly interested in their son Philip Weeks, born 17 Aug 1752. He married Elizabeth WEALE at Wembury.

Thank you!
