Hello. I am trying to find information on an Ethel Witherington, who married George Wesley Routh in Chicago on 3 July 1940. I believe that they moved to California and had at least one son. I found a death record for George, but I can't find any on Ethel and would appreciate any assistance on this. I do not have Ethel's place or date of birth, but from her marriage certificate, it looks like she was born in either 1916 or 1926. Thanks!

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I've just now checked the postings and found yours.

Yes, George was married to Annie Payne. Their sons Jim and John were sent to Canada as Home Children after Annie died and Jim remarried. Apparently the new wife found them to be too much trouble.

Frederick was one of 15 children, born in Carrickmacross in Ireland. I dont have his date of birth, but his siblings were born between 1858 and 1880. The only info I have is a note from my mother that Frederick "went to South America".

I am desperately trying to find who has the With(e)rington family bible that was given to "some Americans" who visited Annacroft in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, Ireland a few years ago. I am a direct descendant of that family and would dearly love copy of names and dates from the diary.

My grandmothers father was a George Witherington who was born in Dorset in 1871, his wife was Sarah Ann Payne. There is a story in the family that George sent 2 of his sons to Canada and we believe that one of them was called Jim - could this be the same family? There was a Fred who lived in Southampton - my great uncle Fred

I am interested in your WITHERINGTON line. Not sure we are connected. I have an ANN WITHERINGTON who mar. John TAYLOR 1820 Craven Co., NC. Looking to see if Ann was the 1st wife of MY John TAYLOR who moved to Jackson Co., AL in 1830. 1st wife died, and then he mar. ca 1832 in Alabama.

Do you know anything about any WITHERINGTONS having a dau., Ann, and what happened to her? This 1st wife was my ggggrandmother. Sure would like to find out more about her especially her name!

Sorry, I have nothing on LEONARD WITHERINGTON. But where (state & county) did Leonard appear on the census records?
My WITHERINGTON lines were from SC (late 1700's) to LA (about 1810) to Conecuh County, AL (about 1819) and then to Southern Arkansas (about 1846).

I was born Leslie Gae Woodring to 1959 to a William George Woodring and Shayna Cohen, My father was also married ti a Caroline Judith Petit, His Birthday was aroung 2/08/31 so they say. I am desperately looking for any information on Furney Weatherington and Candis Roan. They married on Aug 30, 1835 in Orange Co, NC.

As soon as Furney passed away, the name was changed (or corrected) to Worthington in Lawrence Co, Indiana around 1870.

Furney also appeared in 1830 (Frances?) Grayson Co, VA, 1840 Grayson Co, VA, 1850 Campbell Co, GA, 1860 Franklin Co, TN and 1870 Lawrence Co, IN.

He may have had a brother named Alfred H. Weatherington who moved to Missouri as well as
a sister named Elizabeth Worthington Hayes.

Furney's parent may have been Thomas Witherington and Elizabeth in Orange Co, NC.

Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

The only one of the children listed as being his, that I know for sure is his, is Jim. Possibly a brother Frederick or Frank but not sure at this point. Jim was a home child and sent to Canada in 1924. Frank was also a home child and came in 1906.

Bible, list his date of birth as Jan 1, 1811--he mar 1st
Mary Ann Matthews in Houston County, GA in 1832
and had children: James W 1833, George 1835,
Nathan Jr b 1836, John w, b in 1838, Daniel Ross born
in 1839-- Mary Ann Matthews died after 1841 and
William mar 2) Harriett Emeline Noblin and their

All the other nine were born in Houston County, Georga.

In the census records of Georgia, William and all of our

Dear Debbie, Just looked at the Witheringtons again. My Janet lived in Sanquhar, Dumfries, Scotland and I am descended from her son James Abbot Hamilton born 13 May 1770. She was married to Robert Hamilton but I do not have dates for Janet or Robert. The Hamiltons owned land in Buckinghamshire as well as Dumfries and were related to the Whighams in Sanquhar.

Witherington Scandal

Looking for information on a Clarence Witherington. I have found two in TN who where married with children, but not to my grandmother. In my grandmothers later years she told me Clarence was not the father, but that last name Mooney was. She said he was married, and she had an affair with him. Now I am wondering if it were Clarence she had the affair with. Clarence never had anything to do with the two boys. Clarence Witherington is listed on my fathers birth certificate, and Elsie had his last name.

I am a descendant of Joseph Witherington who was born in or around the northern portion of North Carolina, Hertford Cty. on 5/24/1759. There was another Joe Witherington there also whom I took to be his father. A William Witherington was also there as an apprentice cobbler. I was at the court house of the county seat and found the above information in 1985.
The 1759 Joe Witherington was to marry to Isabel Tayloe.

What was your father's cousin's name? Helmi Witherington was listed on the SS Index as having died 10 February 1995.
