Hello Linda
Thank you very much for your surprise email. It was a couple of years ago that I placed my message on the site. I also placed a message on the West Riding Mailing List ages ago looking for any descendants of James Albert Woodside born in 1867 but had no luck.
I have found quite a lot of information about James Albert Woodside (1867) and his family. He also had a son James Albert Woodside.
I will gather up all my notes and get back to you later today. I am in NSW Australia.
Are you in the Huddersfield area?
I will see if I can send you a "Private Message" and send you my email address.
It was lovely to hear from you and to find that there are photos available.
I am in contact with a descendant of Hilda Woodside's husband but he doesn't know much about Hilda's family.
Regards
Pat Berry

Greetings -
I have a William Ballantine married to Ann Woodside sometime around 1740; later, grandson Hugh Ballantine (1813-1890) married Agnes Woodside (1842-1933). Both Hugh and Agnes were born in N Ireland and eventually lived near Ogdensburg, NY. I'm happy to share any information I have that might be useful; and would like to learn more about the Woodside - Ballantine family connections.
Cheers,
Terry Ballantine

Does anyone have an Ann Woodside, who married either a William or John Ballantine in County Antrim? They may have married in Scotland; son John, was born about 1761, so I would guess Ann was born around 1730 - 1742 or so.

Also have an Abram Woodside (1817-1882), who married a Janet Creighton; settled in upstate NY.

Thanks for any information or suggestions.

Cheers,
Terry Ballantine

I have been trying to reach a Jas. MacKenzie of Brighton re.
his interest in the Sheasgreen surname.

I have knowledge of Thos. Woodside and his wife Ellen (née Sheasgreen) Woodside.

They immigrated to Montréal, PQ from Ireland with their daughter Kate, b. Ireland. Kate's birth date estimate is year 1841. Their next daughter named Eleanor was born, circa 1843, in either Montréal or Ireland. Their third child, Hugh James Woodside was born in Montréal, PQ in estimated birth year of 1848. So that can give an approximate timeline of their immigration.

The Thos. Woodside family lived in Montréal and later moved to Toronto. He was in the banking business and can be tracked through the city directories of the times in each of the Provinces.

Ellen (née Sheasgreen) Woodside died on May 30, 1900 in Toronto. Her body was interred at the Toronto Necropolis on
June 1st, 1900. Their records state she was born in Ireland.

I hope some of this information is helpful.

Regards,

Kathleen

Hi, Cousing Alice:

I am Margaret Holmes Lupi, Dee Woodside's great granddaughter. I have done quite a bit of research, as well. It appears through Sally Bagby we may have some rather illustrious relatives.

Cousin Van Woodside passed away on January 18, 2009. He was Louie and Faye's son. He had been ill for 6 weeks. A gathering will be in Maupin at the grade school gym on Saturday, January 31. His ashes will be buried at Kelly Cemetery on Juniper Flat. I have always been very close to his sons, Doug and Jeff. So this has been very hard on everyone.

I remember you from the Woodside reunion in 1997 in Portland. So many who were at that reunion are now gone....Woody and Betty Woodsie, my mom Skip, Van, Uncle Scott Woodside, Florence Woodside, and I am sure, others. I see Bob and Vad Woodside frequently. I really feel they are my closest family now.

Would love to hear from you more, and share information on the family. My email is margaretlupi@comcast.net.

Love,

Cousin Margaret Holmes Lupi (daughter of Lorita Dee "Skip" Woodside Dunlap.

Re: Does anyone have any information on Dillard Woodside ??

Ken,

Although I don't have any knowledge of this family, I did a search of the 1880 Census (at http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?P... )
for Dillard WOODSIDE and found
Dillard WOODSIDES, 27, a laborer, b. in Indiana, both parents born in Kentucky
in the household of John & Julia HAMNER in Johnson Co., Indiana.

The census image at Ancestry shows that Dillard was a boarder in the household. There were also 8 other WOODSIDES in Johnson Co, but none of them born in KY and old enough to be his parents. However, knowing the inaccuracies on the census, I would certainly check out the only family with a father old enough to be Dillard's:
A. J. WOODSIDES, 62, b. NC, parents b. NC

Hope this helps.

Jackie
