Hi,
Just read your message re Simon and Anne(Adams) Woodyatt..been stuck on this for ages..also my GGGrandfather side...you are correct with marriage etc...Simon travelled to Tasmania on Royal Saxon to Launceston and arrived Nov 22nd 1842 as a carpenter. He had 2 other children beside John. Charles born Breadalband and Thomas (my relative) born back in Hereford UK in 1851.Family Search has the wrong info when it says that John Woodyatt married Sarah Yatts (yates really) with parents Simon and Anne...I have bought a copy of the marriage cert and it confirms this John is 45yrs old and his father is John Woodyatt and his mother Elizabeth(nee Barratt).Other family also doing this search think John died very young but I can't find anything to confirm this....as I found it sad that they should return to the UK with Charles and not Thomas...If you have found anymore info I would be most grateful to be able to solve the John Woodyatt mystery

Hi,

Have only just seen this so you have probably moved on considerably. Did you ever confirm that John was the son of Simon and Anne Woodyatt nee Adams? Simon and Ann are my gr, gr, gr, grandparents. I know that when Simon and Anne returned from Tasmania they did not have thier son John with them. Thomas (my gr gr grandfather) was born 29 Apr 1859 in the County of Hereford.

I am researching the Woodyatt family from Dixon, Lee county, Illinois. The direct line goes from Richard Woodyatt, born about 1815 in England and died in 1859 in Dixon. Next is his son Albert C. Woodyatt (1858-1936), then Albert's daughter, Irene Belle Woodyatt Edwards (1885-1947).
Hi Keith

I have some info on the family you mentioned back in 2004 although, as yet, the John who married Sarah Yatts hasn't (as far as I'm aware) been confirmed as the son of Simon and Anne - there are a couple of choices that could fit the bill (but of course that could have moved on in the past year so I may be out of date on that one).

I do hope you are still out there so we can compare notes

Mandy

I am looking for the origins of Thomas Woodyatt, baker - found in Bristol in the 1820s - where several children are baptised to him and his wife Mary in three Bristol parishes.

Thomas was found on the 1841 giving his age around 50 but born Out of County. A death entry from "1837 online" makes his birth c1785.

No other information is known - I was wondering whether he may have originated from either Worcs or Hefs families - anyone out there with UK connections have a Thomas that disappeared off their tree who might fit in?

Would love to hear from you.

Mandy

Hi Graham
Can't believe it's been nearly a year since I looked at this site.
My Woodyatts are Robert George, born 1824 Alverstoke Hampshire. He married a Jane Hall there in 1848 and they came to Australia in 1852 aboard the Mary into Perth. He was a mounted constable there for a year or so where my great grandmother Sarah Woodyatt was born. Then went to Victoria where his remaining 11 children were born. They moved to Newcastle NSW where they died.
Do you think these are on your list?

Liz

My William Woodyatt is a child of Richard Woodyatt and Mary Hooper (refer to Stephen Kelsey's website on the Woodyatts). Direct relationships with the Cradley line seems yet to be determined. I am still hopeful of finding another descendant of William Woodyatt in Australia. Any information would be useful.

This William Woodyatt does not appear to come from this stream, but the name is not that common. Would welcome any information that would simplify how the complete puzzle fits together., from information ava

I am a Brisbane born and bred Woodyatt (DOB 22 Feb 1947). I am also a James although known mostly as Jim.

I have been to Zurich a number of times as we have Swiss friends who live in Zollikon. Their son was an exchange student in Australia with us in 1988.

My family was in Zurich in 1998 and 2001 and each time I had a fiddle with the electronic telephone books in the phone stalls and noticed with surprise that there was a Woodyatt there. I saw the Ancestry website and thought I would send you this short note. Steve Kelsey has collected info from me here concerning the Brisbane Woodyatts.

Is this James in Switzerland, the UK or USA? I have heard of a James Woodyatt in the USA.

My ancestors came to Brisbane Queensland, Australia in 1865 from Ludlow in Shropshire.

If James could email me I am interested in hearing about the Swiss connection.
People who aren't actually named Woodyatt but descended or related in some way are obviously much more numerous.
