That is very interesting, I haven't heard that story before. I know Powell is a common name here in America, especially Kentucky where my Pike line also connects with Powells their in central Kentucky. The Woolery line there had so many children that they are intermarried with many families of that area. Did your Powells also go to Jamaica? My granddaughters are half Jamaican and I would like to know how to check their father's genalogy there, any suggestions for a mid-westerner?
Hi
of course this may have nothing to do with your research but i found it interesting that your Woolery married a Powell my family on my father's side is Powell. they are somehow connected to the Woolery name in the West Indies (Jamaica) back in the 1800. I have a cousin, (last name chin)that his great grandmother was a Woolery and her anestors were maroons when slavery existed in Jamaica. I have not been able to connect these names but still working on them.

Susanna was also my great grandmother. I'm learning some fascinating facts here. I lived with her and my Uncle Leo until I was eleven years old. Actually, Leo died when I was nine years old on July 7th 1958. Grandma was placed in a nursing home when I was eleven. My understanding is that Grandma Susanna was born September 4th, 1873. I would love to see an obituary for both if anyone out there has copies. I'd love any further information of any kind.

Hello. There is another male child that you did not list, his name was Raymond Woolery and he died at a young age. He was born 6 May, 1912 and died 25 Jan. 1935 in Anadarko, OK. He and his parents are buried in Memory Lane Cemetery, in Anadarko, OK. He is buried next to his father Walter Woolery and Bertha Lou (Black) Woolery. Thomas Marion Woolery and his wife are buried in Oklahoma. There is only 2 (two) of the children that are still living and they are Lola Laverne Wright and Gerald Woolery, both are currently in nursing homes in San Diego, California. I knew Aunt Bertha and all of the children. Aunt Bertha was 99 years old when she died in San Diego. Joe Dale Black

Elizabeth Woolery married Samuel Pike, son of Robert and Annie Pike of Fayette and Estill Counties Kentucky. Samuel and Elizabeth resided in Fayette county. I do not have her death date but it was probably before Samuel in about 1850; Samuel died in Fayette county in 30 Jul 1882. They married in Estill County on 10 Oct 1821. I have not been able to find any children for them, maybe you can help me there??

Charles F Woolery

I'm researching my wife's tree. She is related to Charles Francis Woolery and Charles Franklin Woolery, his father. I've been doing a lot of research, see if I have the story correct.

It looks like they were married in Missouri when he was 33 and she was 17, in 1887. But the marriage license lists the names C.F. Woolery and Willie A.C. Jones. I traced back Willie Jones through the census records using her father's name on the marriage license, and she is never referred to as Anne. Is Willie AC Jones the same person as Anne Woolery?

In the 1900 Census, Annie Woolery is listed as a servant to Mr. Austin Taber in Saline,. MO. who has two children- Stella(20) and Frank(18). She has three boys, Charles(12), Chris Tony(7), and Fred(1) Woolery. I've tried to find out what happened, and can only assume there was a divorce, since they both were living past 1900.

In the 1910 Census, she is now Annie Taber, living in Oklahoma. She married Mr. Taber 6/17/1902. They have five kids living with them- Charles & Chris Tony Woolery, and Fred, Albert and Ruth Taber. But. they also have a neighbor Frank Woolery, who is the same age as Charles Frank Woolery, married to Rebecca, and has three sons and two steps-sons (last name Harmon). Is Frank Woolery actually Charles Franklin Woolery?

It appears Annie Taber moved on to LA, where she passed away in 1946. Can anybody confirm that the information I've gathered is correct? Can anybody fill in any of the gaps in the story?

William Robert Woolery, b. Missouri 1863

I am seeking the parentage of William Robert Woolery. I have a copy of William Robert's Texas Death Certificate. He lists his father as "J. B. Woolery" and his mother as "Sarah Woolery." I have been unable to find these names in the 1860 or 1870 U.S. Census. The earliest census record I can find for William Robert (went by Robert) is the 1900 Census, when he was already living in Texas. He lists his father's and mother's places of birth as "unknown." Any clues as to who this J. B. is? Any clues as to complete name, date of birth, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I think I may have known your father. I have always been crazy about horses so when I graduated from the 8th grade my parents bought me a pinto mare from Frank Vessels, who owned the quarter horse race track in Los Alamitos & I kept her there. Whitie started working there a few years later along with Chuck Talliaferro & Henry Moreno. I think Chuck & Henry followed the racing circuit at that time. Anyway, I was crazy about Whitie, my folks even drove me to Las Vegas when he was racing Vessel's horses there. One won & I got to go to the winners circle & get my picture taken with everybody. It was really a thrill for me. When he got married I was heartbroken. I saw him after they broke up & he was heartbroken. Really missed his little girl. He called me once to tell me that they were getting back together. I often wondered how he is. Your inquiry sounds like the past tense.
