I have no connection to this family, but found this while doing other research. This appeared in the Mar. 31, 1885 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Courier Gazette in the "Folks and Things" column:

"Robert C. Wooster, who has long been one of Rockland’s prominent business men, has taken up his residence in Sheets, Va. And his family rejoin him there this week. Poor health necessitating a chance of climate he went south about a year ago, and was so much benefited by the change that he decided to remain there.”

Hi,

I'm trying to reach someone in the Wooster/Smith family. I was in contact with Shirley before, but she has changed e-mail addresses, and I can't reach her.

She sent me a picture of W. T. Smith and Ada Wooster with several Carothers, Woosters, and Smiths in the picture. It was pointed out who W. T. Smith was but I don't know who the others are.

If someone who is in this line could contact me, I could send a copy of the picture. I am looking mainly to see if any of the Smiths in the picture are brothers or sisters to W. T. Smith.

I am Patricia Wells McDonnell. My husband is John Winston McDonnell, the son of Richard Timothy and Maude Wooster McDonnell. John was born in Tiensin, China on July 19, 1929 and we live in Fairfax, Virginia.

Richard and Maude were married in Tiensin, China on August 10, 1923. Maude had gone out to China to work at the Peking Union Medical College as a nurse. She was sent to the college by the Rockefeller Foundation. At the time of their marriage, Richard Timothy, known as Dick since I have known him, was living in Tiensin. He had resigned from the US Army and had started his own construction business. They lived in Tiensin until 1931 until they moved to Shanghai. Their oldest child, Richard Timothy Jr. who they called Tim died in 1931 in Tientsin. When Japan invaded China, Maude and her 2 children, Patrick and John returned to the US and Richard, rejoined the Army. Maude eventually made her home in Washington DC with the 2 boys.

Maude Wooster's mother was Phoebe Ferris. Phoebe's brother was Joel, therefore, Maude's uncle. Maude was born in Spokane Washington. Also Maude was known as Pauline from the time she went to China.
My family and I would be very interested in the letters and other items you mentioned in your Ancestry message. I hope that you are still in possession of them and are a subscriber so that you receive this. If you have sent them to another McDonnell, Wooster or Ferris family member, I would be extremely interested in contacting them to see if I can obtain a copy from them.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding the letters and other documents that you have. I promise you they will have a good home. I have done genealogical research on the McDonnell for about 2 years. John's nephew, Patrick's son (who is deceased) and my son Richard are also interested in my research and I share everything I do with them and other family members.

I would also be most interested in the relationship of your Grandfather and Richard McDonnell and what you know about their relationship.

I am looking for information on Christine Diana Wooster. I do not know her birth or death date or even places. She married Ray Edward Lee. They lived in the Bexar County area of Texas during the 50's I am sure of. Ray & Christine had four children that I know of: Daniel Ray Lee, Rhonda K. Lee, Rella Grey Lee (Kibort), & David Ross Lee.

Mrs Emma D Wooster, 52yo died this morning at the home of her sister Mrs JC Morris of Orange Park FL. She is also survived by her mother Mrs Sarah Dougan, and bro LeRoy Dougan. Body was accompanied by family to Wheeling West Virginia for interment.

I do not have a copy of the adoption records.
but i am told they exist.
there is notations in birth record volume kept by
Rockland ME. for all the children of Charles and Sarah.

I am doing research for a friend, Melissia Wooster Chambers, who is a direct descendant of George William Wooster through his son Everett. You mention not finding him on the 1930 census. I have found him and family in South Thomaston Knox, Maine in 1930. Here are the particulars:

I am seeking the death date of this
"George William Wooster" as described below.
I have contacted Camden and Rockport Knox Co.
and have not been able to gain any records.
i have his WW I draft card and other bits census & others,
but not any death date or place.
he resided in Rockport, , area.
in 1920 he is listed in the census at Mt Pleasant rd.
with family. i do not find them in 1930 ..
I am thinking he did not reclaim the Clemens/Clements name...
nor did the children.
any info on this couple i do appreciate.

He was the son of 2. Charles F. Clemens-Wooster and
Lizzie Eliza Dinsmore.
** NOTE, the father of George W Wooster
was "Charles Clemens/Clement" who m. Sarah Lawrey
of Vinalhaven. she d. 1866. the 4 children 3 boys 1 girl
were adopted out to different families
"Wooster, Brown, McIntyre, & McIntosh,
of Knox Co.. recently a direct desc. did dna testing
and proved the Clement connection.***

He married (1) Mary Chilton Sampson Abt. 1905 in unk.
She was born 31 May 1887 in Kingston, Plymouth Co.
Massachusetts, and died Aft. 1920 in .....
She was the daughter of Edwin L Sampson and Lydia Chilton.

George & Mary had 11 children

Henman Wooster

The parents of E.S. Wooster, Sr. have been found & they are Henman W. and Ruth (Hungerford) Wooster, with the father being born in Vermont and the mother in Connecticut. They were married in Livingston Co, NY & came to Michigan in 1829. I've not been able to locate any other information on them. The General Richardson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Oakland County, MI, were able to find some information that he was also known as Hinman, Herman or Hiram. Does anyone have any information on him?

Thomas AKA Chrystal Wooster may be the man we knew as Chrystal Wooster in California. He had a soon named Wayne Wooster who was from Chicago, Illinois. Wayne was born in 1913. When and where was Chrystal born? Does the state of Nebraska figure in the lives of any of these people?

My wife's father's name is David L Wooster, his father is Charles B Wooster, who is related to David ?Chiles Wooster from Kansas, a geologist.

They are related to the General, from Prinston university, whome B.
Arnold served under. In fact they were together when the general was shot.

Lt. Cdr. Noel Guy Davis [not Colin Davis] was the only fatality other than Lt. Wooster.

Lt. Wooster was never married, but was engaged to marry Sally Finney prior to the flight to France.

Wooster's father was Rollin Chappell Wooster; his grandfather was John Wooster.

I am still researching these two men for www.motorsportmemorial.org.

Lt. Cdr. Davis was the leader of this attempt. He was survived by a 16 month son, "jr.", and a widow, whose name I have not found yet. Like Wooster, Davis was a graduate of the U. S. Naval Academy. Davis was the top academic of his class, and served during WW-I. He held a patent on a sextant which he planned to use in the flight to France.

Sorry to add to your headaches on this one but, to make it even more confusing for you, John Alexander Clarke (Arthur Henry Clarke's brother) married Eleanor Wooster, daughter of Thomas Wooster (2) & Phillis Hutton. Thomas was the son of Thomas Wooster (1) and Jane Mary Hue! (You may need to take a look at my tree to see how this all fits together!) Clara was the daughter of George Wooster who was the brother of Thomas Wooster (2) above.

Clara Wooster, also Burnup, also Clarke?

Does anyone have any further information on Clara Wooster, born in 1846 in Camberwell, Surrey? Her parents were George Wooster and Eliza Frances Hersee. Clara married William Henry Burnup in 1868 - I believe William's occupation was 'Master Seaman'. That would explain why Clara was living at home with her parents for the 1871 census, with no trace of William.

I know she then married Arthur Henry Clarke in 1877, when she claimed to be a widow - again, I can find no trace of William having died, so perhaps it happened overseas. Strange fact No.1: one of the witnesses at Clara's first marriage was John Alexander Clarke - brother of her second husband! I am pretty sure Clara and Arthur had at least two children - Frederick Rosier Clarke and Ada Louisa Clarke; they were living in Croydon for the 1881 census.

Strange fact No.2: Clara was again at home with her parents for the 1891, described as 'Married' - but Arthur Henry Clarke appears in Brierley Hill, Staffordshire, apparently married to Annie and with two children! Annie's maiden name was Woodward; so far I have not found anything in the GRO indexes to indicate that Arthur and Annie did actually marry.

If anyone can shed any light on this tangled web, I will be most grateful!

cended from Jacob C.and Geertje Coeymans Ten Eyck, my line
comes from Jacob C.'s brother Matthys Ten Eyck.

Your message is pretty old, and you have probably found answers, but Louisa TenEyck's parents were Jacob tenEyck and Adelaide Lightfoot. Adelaide was a sister to my ggrandmother. Parents were Thomas Lightfoot and Jane Ardrey who are buried in Aylmer, Elgin Ontario

Wow, don't know where I've been but this is the first time I've seen your answer. Yes, KAPLAN is one of the surnames in my mother's family. I never knew how Wooster was related, just that they were. Some of the other names I remember are:

COHEN, KOZLOW, KOZLOWSKI, MILLER, LEVY, GERSHENOW, GERSHENOWITZ

Do any of them ring any bells with you? COHEN, Henry & Evelyn had a hardware store which I believe was in Brooklyn. Henry & Sarah KAPLAN were my great-aunt and uncle (don't know the maiden names). They had one girl, Evelyn, and two boys. I believe one boy was Ben and the other I knew as Moishe.

My maternal grandmother was Minnie KAPLAN, and I believe she was Henry's sister. Minnie married Morris KAPLAN. All of them were born in Minsk, Russia.

How do we get our email addresses, phone numbers, etc. to each other without publishing them to the whole list? Please let me know. I would love to get in contact with you!

I wish it was my people. As far as I know, David Wooster (the father) had only 2 daughters. I don't have any information regarding siblings. He was born in Minsk, Russia and appears to have come directly to New York in about 1906.

Hope you do find who belongs to that bible. It would be priceless to someone.

Old Wooster Bible

I have a bible that is inscribed:

It is signed: Leon M Wooster
I think this family may have been originally from Michigan and then moved to NY. They are not my relatives, I'm just trying to get the book back to the family.

It is in pretty bad shape.

This branch of Tuenge sounds like the one I'm looking for. My Grandfather's name was Randolph Tuenge and was part of a very large family. He may have been one of their sons. He married Carol West, she is still alive. She told me that the Tuenge boys had quite a reputation, but didn't elaberate.

Hi my name is Bo Cantara and my grandfather is Harry Wooster. Today he was actually talking to me about his grandfather who ran away from home at the age of 12. He was a cabin boy in the maritime service and became very good at playing the trumpet. He ended up in America where according to my grandfather he played trumpet for John Philip Sousa. He then met a man with the last name Gunn and they started Labatt brewery somewhere in Canada. He pasted away in London at the age of 99. Im not sure if this helps you but if you know anything about this please email me thanks.

My records are from Quaker records about an Amos Wooster who married a Lodema Hoag and his parents are listed. The timing and place (MI) are right for it to have been the same Amos Wooster whose wife Lucy Green had died.

Hello Celticspirit, my name is Chris and one of my husbands lines are the Woosters from Gympie. William George Edward Wooster, born Gympie born 28th Oct. 1887. Married Edith Rowe in NZ in 1913. His Parents were Francis Edward Wooster and Kate Augusta, nee Eaton. They went to NZ and both are buried in Napier. Park Island Cemetery in the same plot. Hope this all helps.

My mother's maiden name was Wooster and my research into her ancestors has come up with many different spellings of Wooster. I was able to find Leah Burch on the 1880 census in Pittstown, Rensselaer Co., NY. I was also able to find her and William on the 1920 census in Rotterdam, Schenectedy Co., NY along with Leah's mother. His last name was spelled Worchester. On the 1930 census from the same city and the same three people, the name is spelled Worcestr. I was not able to find anything in 1900 or 1910. Hope this helps.

I have Wooster (Woster) ancestors that sailed to Australia from the west coast of US (probably Washington state) in the mid 1800's. They originally came from England, settled on the coast of Maine, migrated west, and the on to Australia. I have lots of names and dates if anyone is interested.
