Hi. looking for information on Thomas Stevens (Stephen) Wotton he was married to Agnes Kate Andrews in 1906 in Henley-upon-Thames, England. Children I know they had are Mary, Leslie Arthur, Alfred John and Frank Charles (my father). There were more children but do not know names. Anyone out there who can help please.

Kevin, Has any body found out about John's wife Sophia Ransom? They mar abt 1800 in I think Enfield, Me. She may be the dau of Daniel or David Ransom of Conn. I have met a Dead end here.

I have John Wotton 1802 - 1874 back to John Wotton 1262 - 1315. I have not gone through and verify the entries, but I could generate a gedcom file for you. This John is listed as my 1st cousin 5x removed.

May I have a copy of the info you have on the Wotton's back to 1200's? My ancestor is John Wotton 1802-1874. He married 1837 Hannah Corson 1817-1891. John is the son of John and Sophia (Ransom) Wotton.

The Wotton family are not overly close in the family tree. Emily Ellen Miner is my 2nd cousin 1 x removed. Emily's Great Grandmother on her mother's side is my 2nd Great Grandmother.

They have been an interesting family to trace. The 'Emily' and 'Ellen' in her name came down from her mother's side of the family, carried down a few generations.

I didn't realise that Emily and Jasper had adopted a daughter (your mother). I would enjoy chatting to you about the family.

Hi, James John Wotton (Snr)b 23/12/1848 Currency Creek SA; d 28/2/1941 Roma Qld. He married Harriet Hannah Stokes. They have a son also James John Wotton (Jnr) born 1874. If you are referring to James John Wotton Snr's parents, they are John Wotton b. abt 1816 Devon England who married Susan Giles March 1842 at East Stonehouse Devon. Susan b 1822 & died 1911.
John and Susan emigrated from London via Plymouth to Port Adelaide. Left England 18/3/1847. Arrived Adelaide 2/7/1847. Their 2 eldest daughters came with them from England. Mary Giles Wotton born Sept 1843 Devon and Susan Jane Wotton b March 1846 Plympton St Marys. Susan Jane died soon after arriving Adelaide on 4 Feb, 1848. Their next child was James John.

Hi, Edith May Wotton is my maternal grandmother. Born 3 Dec 1892 Parkes NSW, died 5 April 1978 Dubbo NSW, buried Walgett General Cemetery next to husband George Cochrane whom she married 18 Feb 1914 in Warwick QLD. They had family of 4 - 3 boys, 1 girl. Her parents were James John Wotton & Harriet Hannah Stockes. I have more info. If I can help, let me know.

Our Wotton name - well those that I know about , died out in 1811 when Mary Ann Wotton married Robert Stupart. She had a brother Robert who said he was 60 in 1841 but I have so far failed to find any further info ablout him other than he was literate, had two sons - one a wigmaker and one in the RN. Their father, Zachariah was a watchmaker. He had two wives, both Mary. I have the parish record of his second marriage to Mary White in 1799, London but have failed to find his first marriage anywhere. This will have been about 1779.
Zach's father was Zechariah Wotton, married to a Hannah, again in a London Parish. Zach also had a sister, Christina.
The Wotton name was passed down in my mother's family as a middle name for all first born sons until 1950 when my Uncle James chose not to do this anymore.

One of my Uncles carried out a lot of research in the past and I am only just starting out again. I am fairly sure the Newcastle Wotton was a Nicholas Metherill Wotton and he was my Great Grandfathers brother. I will try and get a bit more information but from what I understand nearly all the Wotton's spelt this way came from Highweeks area originally. That means that we are probably distantly related. My family have been in London for 3 generations before me.
My Grandfather was a Wallace Furze Wotton and his Grandfather migrated to London, my close family (cousins) are related to the Wottons in Surrey, Chalfonts, Peckham, and Kent.

Thank you for your post. My Wottons were in London in the 18th century - I have copies of birth,death and 1 marriage entry from there. There is an entry in Bishops' transcripts for some Wottons in Tynemouth, Northumberland in the 18th century too but I haven't found a link with mine yet. There may be a family connection somewhere along the line for both of us. Do you have any names, places and dates?

my wotton family came to London via Highweeks, Newton Abbott, Devon mid to late 19th Century. Some went to Newcastle and formed another branch two or three generations back.

My WOTTON ancestors were from the City of London, England, UK. Zachariah WOTTON, 1743 - 1820, married twice - Mary ? about 1778 and as a widower, Mary White 1799. Somehow, possibly by marriage, he is connected to the James family of Tynemouth, Northumberland.
Via his daughter, his descendant's surnames are : Stupart, Hislop.

I'm trying to locate information on William J Crouse, b between 1869 and 1871. His wife Carrie I Crouse(Wotton), b, appr May 1880 and I can't find information on her death. In 1930 they were living in S.Thomaston when the census was taken that year. I was hoping to locate the cemetary and get dates that way. If anyone knows of an old cemetary I could check I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the quick reply about Delbert and Nettie Wotton. I stubled across the same information and the ages fit nicely with Delbert being 26 and Nettie being 18 at the time of gram's birth. I've tried to convince myself that they are my great-grand parents, but the early death of their only child bothers me.

Oral family history, only mentioned behind VERY closed doors, says that Ethel Wotton was pregnant out-of-wedlock and was sent to live with a family in Belgrade, Maine. That is very possible as my dad was born less that a month after his parents were married. Long after my dad died my mother had a slip of the tongue and said that there was a question as to who was really his father.

I have a few lists of Wotton names from cemetery, town and church records, mostly from the Friendship/Warren, Maine, area. If these might be of help to you I'll be happy to send them on to you.

My notes show a Delbert E Wotton Birth 30 Oct 1862
in Maine, USA Death 17 Jan 1945 in Waterville, Maine, USA married to a Antoinette Winchenbach 1870 – 1898. I list a child born and died in 1898. So I have something wrong. Straighten me out so I get it write.

His father Henry W Wotton 1837-1909 mother Sarah H Hoffses 1839-1898.

I also show another wife Alma J Coburn b 1873 with a daughter Jennie Mae Wotton b 1902.

Hi, any luck with your Maine Wottons? I'm looking for the family of my grandmother, Ethel Jane Wotton. She was born in S. Thomaston, Maine in 1886. Her parents were Nettie (Antoinette?) Winchenbach (possibly Winchenpaw) who was born in Thomaston and Adelbert Wotton who was also born in Thomaston.

I am the great grandson of the 6th great grandmother to Thurston.

I have Thurston (NMI) born 17 Apr 1811 in Maine. And his death in Charleston Penobscot Maine on 25 Jan 1889. He married Julietta Pon on 10 Jul 1833 in Franklin Massachusetts. His parents were Simeon Wotton and Sarah Jameson.

My Great Grandfather was Pearley Lorenzo Wotton. His name was Myron. His brothers were Leslie & Pearley and sisters Anna & Ethel. I have not heard too much about Ethel.

Ethel Alice Wotton born 26 Dec 1894 in Friendship, Knox, Maine, USA was the daughter of Pearley Lorenzo Wotton and Margaret Ann Cushman.

She married Allston P Roberts in Vinalhaven, Knox, Maine, USA 9 Aug 1915. Died 21 Dec 1966 in New Bedford, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA.

I haven't seen any children.

I am the grandson of the 4th great grandmother of Pearley Wotton.

We are in the mid 900's and getting lost. We are having a reunion and I'm working on getting the current data in and have not spent anytime on the past in 2 months. Sorry.

The farthest Wotton back I have is 1262.

I don't know where in Scotland my family is from exactly but I am looking for my great grandmother her name is Margaret Wotton, it is believed she is originally from Scotland and moved to America around the early 1900s, but I don't have an exact date. It is also believed she had 4 children in Scotland that did not come over to America with her. I also had a cousin in Scotland her name was Isabell Wotton. I don't know if it is the same famiy but I thoght I'd give it a shot.
