Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately you and I are not
elegible, as, so far, only the Y-dna, from descendents in
the male line are being tested.

You might contact me direct at email jjtptk@gmail.com so
we can compare notes on what we do have. I have some of
Robert Grant's books. My line is through Anselm and Kitty's
son Tazwell--his daughter Emma m. James Thomas (one of
many) who were my grandparents.

Kitty Forbes Wright's parents, John and Agness must have
been related somehow to Green Forbes.

Kitty and Anselm Wright are my great-great-great-grandparents. Their daughter Mary married Green Forbes. Mary and Green's daughter Sallie married Jerome Pasley. Salie and Jerome's oldest son Samuel married Cora Belle English. Sam and Cora's oldest son was Charlie English Pasley, my father. I am amenable to DNA testing with other relatives.

I am searching for Wright lines in the 1700's going back to Hertford Co. NC and old Nansemond Co./Norfolk parishes in VA. which is just across the border from Hertford Co. Names associated with my line are James, Dr. James, William, Henry, John, Jane, Elizabeth, Esther, Miles, Willis, Matthias, Robert. However, I am very interested in your line regardless, if it ties to these counties or parishes. I would love to hear from you by message or email. A male in your line may also be able to receive a free yDNA kit if desired.

William James Wright

I am currently seeking ANY information on William James Wright. I have reason to believe that he was born in Alabama but I do not have any solid evidence of his birth date. I also have reason to believe he married a Sarah Elizabeth Spotts but not sure if she is the father of his children or not. The children I have listed for William is as follows but not in exact order Porter, Sharp, William James JR, John Spotts Wright, George Washington, Clinton Thomas, Mahalia, Benjamin Franklin. The Wrights I am researching mostly frequented Clearfield County, Pa and Indiana, Burnside is another place to it is also in PA. Any information would help. I can be contact directly at jbwright84@yahoo.com

I would like to add that there is speculation that there is Native American involved as well. Two Native American names offered to me recently were Spotted Horse and Spotted Pony. There was also a little story of a woman who married a Wright with the Native American name of Spotted Fawn and then after marrying the Wright changing her name to Fawnie or Fonnie Spotts. I have not been able to find any information about that.

My understanding is that a lot of the records from Leamington through to Bristol were lost in the bombing runs during WW-II.

so the only way may be to wear out some shoe leather and take a trip from here in Australia out to England and spend time in Leamington for my dad's side (Wright's) and in Bristol for his mother's side (le Cheminant).

If i get more and it links at all with what you are doing i will let you know.

Hi,

I have not run across those names in my search - infact I have not been able to find any UK records. I am looking at Canadian census' and marriage certificates to find that my greatgrandfather, Herbert Edward Wright was born in Leamington Spa in 1881, had a brother Rupert Alfred WRight, also born in Leamington in 1891, and there was another brother called John. As well, there may have been an older sister, called Gertie. Herbert lists his parents as Edward Wright and Elizabeth Prew, Rupert lists his as Edward WRight and Elizabeth Summers. All three boys were orphaned and came to Canada. From the orphanage they ended up with Gertie and her husband Duncan Williams. I have hit a brick wall with the search in the UK for Edward and Elizabeth or any record of Herbert. I have also checked Scotland's people.

Mary,

I am just getting this now 4 years later! No I did not get your email.

I have some more info though. My greatgrandfather, Herbert Edward Wright, born Feb 28, 1881 in Leamington Spa. His dad was Edward and his mother Elizabeth Prew (or Frew). His brother was Rupert Alfred Wright, born in 1891, (who's marriage certificate lists his dad as Edward but the mother as Elizabeth Summers). I think they may have had another brother John, and also and older sister, Gertie, who was born around 1875. The boys came to Canada as orphans, Herbert in 1895, and John and Rupert by 1901. Gertie married Duncan Williams (I am not sure if in the UK or Canada) and the boys ended up with her, in Quebec and then moving to York (Toronto) area.

I have been on ancestry.uk.co and also Scotlands people and I can't find their birth records or find them in any census. It is a brick wall.

Cathy

Mary
My direct family do have records in Leamington Spa but perhaps a bit later.

My grandfather Osbert Wright was born there in 1881, his father was James and his mother Harriett Holdaway. James appears to have been born in Edmonton

Wright family of North Meols, Lancashire

The first definate connection I can make is the birth of John Wright in 1811 in Southport, Lancashire. He married Mary (Halsall)in Ormskirk in 1834 and their children were Ann (1836), Jane (1837), Mary (1838), Sarah (1839), John (1841), Adam (1834), & Walter (1844). Son John married Mary (Sephton) in 1863 and Frances Mary (1864), James Halsall (1865), Sarah (1869), and John (1870)were their children. Son Walter and wife Jane had 2 sons Walter P (1878) and Harold H (1879). It would appear that the family were Boot & Shoe Makers, with John Sr. being an employer in 1851. I understand from family
information that someone in the family emigrated to the US and was involved with shoe making in NY State. (This could have been Walter and family since nothing after the 1881 census can be found). A condition known as Talaipes Equinovarus (Club Foot) does run in the family and is possibly why the family were involved in the boot and shoe industry. I understand that a great-aunt purchased her shoes from the NY company. If anyone has any infomation and/or connection to the Wright family of North Meols I would love to hear from you.
Judy

Hello, George Wright is my great-great-grandfather. His father is John Wright born around 1787 to 1792. Not sure where he was born. He was a farmer and lived for many years in Pennsylvania. He married Tryphena Brown about 1824. They had 7 children that I know of. My family tree stops with John Wright. Just can't seem to find any records before 1840. The Wright "roots" are from Ireland but I just don't have any details. Most of the info I have on John Wright came from census records. Any help would be most appreciated.

You may want to contact your Local Genealogical or Historical Society for a copy. Erica L. From what I've seen, and based on more current research, some of the information may be in error.

Richard Wright, Jr. was my Great-grandmother - Mary Ann Wright (Varker)'s father by his 2nd wife, Cary Kittrell.

Does anyone have a copy of that Family Group Sheet?

Thanks,
Shirley Varker Gragg
Jackson (born Feb 20, 1876 in Missouri) and Lauretta Wright (born between 1872-1876 in Easton, Buchanan County. Missouri). I think Laurettas' parents were Lycurgus Wright and Caroline James. (My grandmother, Audrey (Temple) Sigrist, married to my grandfather, James R., tells me we are related to Jesse James becauase of Caroline's side of the family. I "think" Lycurgus' moms name was Damaris.. first name.. maybe? Anyway, this is all the info I have thus far, so if anyone has any more info, or they think there might be a conncection, please let me know at the e-mail at the end of this thread! I'd love to share and swap info!

Best Regards,
Jacqueline Sigrist
icajaci@gmail.com
