I too am Looking for Wyke of NC. do you by chance have an Irene/Irinah/ Wyke born aroung Bumcombe NC.... I know she married my Great grandfather, William Walton Foster and moved to Oklahoma about 1907.. they are on the 1910 and 1920 Census...Any help would be appreciated.

I posted to you a while ago now re the same surnames in my family and the Green and John Wyke family of your post. At the time it seemed coincidental. I have now found good evidence that this is my family and that the report that Jane, John's second wife was a Jane Green was mistaken [a reporters error?]. She was Jane Romley but was related to, and in close contact with, her cousins the Green family. I am letting you know in case this info clarifies any of your own. Wyke and Green must have had quite close contact with London at times as some Green and Romley family members resided there. If you know the names of more of the Liverpool Greens I would be most grateful to find out.

New information (from the 1920 Federal Census) indicates that Jack van Wyke (son of Jacob E. Wyke) was actually born in 1902. It is not known why his birthdate was altered at some point but was thought by his family to have been born in 1911/1912.

It's correct that Jacob Ellsworth Wyke is buried in the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio of San Francisco. (see http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=32...) However, General Pershing is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Check the VA Gravesite locator.

John Wyke, clockmaker, Liverpool & Prescot 1720-1787

I am looking for details of John Wykes second wife, Jane Green, whom he married in Liverpool in 1768.
Wyke had a partner Thomas Green, his brother in law, who I presume was the brother of Jane.
I have a Thomas Green, watchmaker, 1815-1881, and I am looking to see if the two Thomas Greens are connected.
Any help much appreciated...

Family tradition states that the name is German. There has been different stories as to the use of the Wyke vs Wike name.

Have some information on William Wike (Wyke) buried in Mayfield Twnshp. I believe he was a brother of your Elizabeth (Wyke) Murray.

I am Jacob Ellsworth Wyke's grandson. When he married Helen Godfrey, one of their children was Jack, born in 1911, he was my father. Jacob was 50 when Jack was born. I was born in 1951 when my dad was 40. I have all of Jacobs photos and orginal war documents. He is buried in the Presido, beside Gen Pershing...and there is a reason why. I believe my Dad used his middle name of van to the last name when he married a Van Loben Sels.

Jacob E. Wyke was my paternal gr gr uncle. Bryan is my nephew and was looking for information on Jacob Wyke/Wike (Jacob E.'s father) his gr gr gr granfather who was killed in the Civil War. I believe Bryan has a new email address. I will forward your message on to him. I would appreciate any information that you could share with me on Jacob E. I did see him listed along with one of his brothers in a Civil War Veterns' Orphan School in PA in , I believe, the 1870 Federal Census.

Hi, I'm amazed at the number of Wyke's in America. I recently discovered that my g.grandfathers sister Emily Wyke b.1866 in Whitwood Castleford Yorkshire emigrated to America with her husband to be Brunsdon. They married in 1885 in Brazil, Clay IN. I don't know if she went over with just him or with brothers or sisters. If any one can help I'd be grateful.Here's hoping. If anyone in Engalnd is related to any of Henry Wyke's other children born in Castleford, Methley or Oldbury I'd love to hear from them.

Jacob E. Wyke, the E. is for Ellsworth is my grandfather. He was born in 1862 and died in 1951. He was a civil war orphan, and was put into boarding school in Penn. I have all of his papers from the time he enlisted until he was commissioned. He served with Teddy Roosevelt and was Gen Perishings aide de camp. He is buried next to Pershing at the Presido in California. He married Helen Godfrey. Is this the same man you are looking for?

sorry, Montana is where my grandparents (Sam&Lillie Wyke) lived, when my Father (Charles Eldon)& Uncle(Elmo Lester),My Father was told his dad and parents came from Austria, and in 1920 census shows that, but in 1930 says his parents were born in two other countries, Sam would have been born in 1890's I'm thinking as Lillie was born 1894 in Montana. I cannot find anything about my Grandfather or his family,only the census.
