I am a Wynyard descendant. There is no Sir Robert Henry Wynyard, although there was a Lt General Robert Henry Wynyard C.B., born 24 December 1802 and died 6 January 1864. He was equery to the Duke of Cambridge, Deputy district Adjundant General in Ireland, Governor of Hibernian School and Kilmansham Hospital Dublin. He travelled to New Zealand with the 58th Foot in the 1840s to fight in the New Zealand Wars, and was acting Governor General before Sir George Gray arrived. He was also the first Superintendant of Auckland Province. He was reportedly appointed Governor General of South Africa around 1862, when he fell ill and died in the city of Bath in 1864. He married Anna MacDonnell on 12 August 1826. Is this the bloke you were enquiring after?

hello are you a decendant if a Wynyard?? I am trying to find out as much info on Sir Robert Henry Wynyard?? - If you know please let me know all that you have on the family, plus, who succeeded to Roberts Title??

William Wynyard m Sarah Lilly late 1700's. They had a son Montagu John Wynyard, and a daughter Georgiana Charlotte Wynyard(b 1786 England)
Georgiana m George Battye and they had 3 (or more ) children:
Georgiana Lilly Cecilia Battye(b 1807)
Montagu John Battye(b 1823)
George Wynyard Battye (b 1806, Chelsea, London)

George Wynyard Battye had several sons:
Legh Richmond (b 1845)
Fred Drummond (b 1847)
Quentin henry (b 1832)
Montagu McPherson (b 1836)
Wynyard (b 1834) m Margaret Colville(b 1840) in Worthing.

The Battye men went to India with the Corps of Guides on the North West Frontier
