Yeadon Cemetery, Brookside

I am looking for information about the Thomas Stone who died on 22 Mar 1866 in Brookside - this according to the record I found on the Nova Scotia Historical Vital Statistics web site. The RootsWeb link to Yeadon Cemetery lists the Stone surname among the those interred there, but I find no corresponding person listed. It seems at least possible that Thomas Stone is buried there. Does anyone have a more complete list of the interments at Yeadon Cemetery, or for that matter, any information about the Stone Family of Brookside?

Hello there
I am also researching the Yeadon family in Yorkshire and have gone back to James Yeadon born in 1807 and Mary born in 1809 in Horsforth which is the area of your research. Our lines could be linked through siblings etc. I will get back to you if I can get anything more definite, will look out for your 'Yeadons' I only started this research a few weeks ago and am totally hooked! By the way it is a lovely part of Yorkshire, on the edge of moors and very prosperous! I live not too far away, my daughter lived in Rawdon for a while. Good luck. Susan

Yeadon Family of Charleston, SC

Hi,

I have been doing some research on the Yeadon family of Charleston, South Carolina, as part of my continuing Steedman family work. It would seem that the immigrant founder of the family was a Richard Yeadon who came to America from England before the revolution. I have developed a framework of the family through late 1800s; however, I am finding a lot of holes in my knowledge.

For instance, Col. Wm. Yeadon, born about 1774, had two wives. The first seems to have been born in the 1780s and they married about 1800. Who was she? They had a son Steedman V. Yeadon about 1819. This suggests that she was a Steedman, but I can find no link. His second wife whom he married in 1833 was a Steedman. At least on of his daughters from first marriage married a Steedman about 1829.

If you have any information or sources of information, I would be interested in hearing from you at gene -at- tqsi.com.

thanks,
John Lisle
Nashua, NH
http://www.lislefamily.org/stedman.tng

I have traced my family tree on my mother's side as far back as 1816 with NATHANIEL YEADON who married SARAH ENGLAND also born 1816. If anyone has any information on Nathaniel or Sarah, I would definitely welcome it.

Nathaniel and Sarah had 7 children, John 1836, Eliza 1840, Henry 1842, Ann 1845, twins Sarah and Mary 1847 and Thomas 1850.

JOHN YEADON married Nanny (or Nancy) Penny and they had three children WALTER 1861, Mary 1851, Sarah E Yeadon 1859 and Bessy 1865. At some time just after 1865 JOHN must have died or divorced Nanny as she remarried John Kellet Airton, and had at least three more children Lois 1871, John 1874 and Herbert 1881.

WALTER YEADON married CLARA (cant find her maiden name) but she was born 1863, and they had at least three children, Annie 1890, Florence 1884 and Henry 1886.

HENRY Yeadon was my great grandfather, and all I know about him was that he was an excellent sportsman and artistic. He was employed for some time as a coach painter, doing coats of arms etc. He was married to Martan Lupton. Martha Anns mother Louise had about 9 brothers, many with unusual names like Frampton, Lewis, Enos and Reuben. They had 4 children after 1901, Harry, Gladys, Jack and Clifford. My grandad Clifford was born in 1910.

My grandad married his kind of cousin Alice Maude Emily Clayton. Alice (well Maude's) father was Clifford's grandfather. Clifford and Maude had 4 children Pat 1936, James c1942, Gillian c1944, Diane c1946.

I have no known link to the Yeadon family except I have come across a postcard from the early 1900's.

I believe the Postcard to be from my Grandmother's collection which means there may be a link to South Wales (possibly Treherbert in the Rhondda).

The postcard is not dated or stamped but is addressed as (if I understand the writing correctly)
Mr J Yeadon
49 Rydal Street
West Bowling
Bradford

The front is a picture of a soldier and a female companion (may be his wife?)
From the clothing I would guess the early 1900's.

My Grandfather was a POW in Germany in WWI and it may be someone he knew there or it may be someone linked to the family in a way I do not know.

If someone recognises the name or address I would love to hear from them, to try and unravel the mystery. I am able to email you a scanned image of the card.

Regards

Kerry

Hi Ken, Hope you are still following the message boards. I want to correct a name that I wrote and inadvertantly mispelled it. John Yeadon's wife's name was Elizabeth MacIntosh. 1783. I hope I did not mislead anyone. There seems to have been a number of MacIntoshes there in Nova Scotia and involved with the Yeadons. I am decended from George R.and Jane Umlah and my grandmother was their daughter Martha Jane (Jennie) Yeadon whomarried Frederick Moore Havill from Devonshire.
Perhaps I may be fortunate to hear from you.
Sincerest, Geri B.
Dear Ken,
Do you know the story regarding the time of the robbery and murder of John Yeadon's mother and young brother who had a toll house in the area? John went to N.S. after the person was caught and hanged. Near that time he married Elizabeth MacIntosh and they went to N.S. I am wondering who John's mother was and also if Elizabeth was related to the MacIntosh Moore Families?
My grandmother was Martha Jane Yeadon Havill - the Spryfield branch, I believe and my father to the Harrietsfield branch.

Need connecting proofs of her family in probably Scotland. We know that they had a Toll House in the area of Guisley. Was it a canal or river that the toll house was on? Or anything you can add.
