Hi Richard

If you select the 'Family Trees' tab in the top menu, you get two tabs - the first is called 'My Trees' and the second to the right of it is called 'Trees Shared With Me'. In there you should see my tree, to which you should have access.

Any probs, let me know.

Regards

Nick

Robert A Yerbury

Ok I am fairly new to this and I have managed to get to 1820 but my search gets a little sketchy due to some deaths

I know Robert A Yerbury was born in 1820 and married a lady called Elizabeth but I dont know when. I know they had two children , Allen Yerbury in 1847 and Francis Yerbury in 1849.

The next bit of information I have is from the 1851 cencus and Robert is a Widower. The two children I know of get split up. Allen Lives with his uncle in Stepney and Francis goes to his grand parents in Beckingham.

Can anyone give me any information of what happened with Robert between 1820 and 1851. And what was the maiden name of the lady he married

Thanks in advance
Richy

I'm not going to be able to help you a great deal, Niall, because I can't connect both sets of Yerburys.

Your GG-aunt's husband was descended from Walter Yerbury who died in London in 1746 though he may well have had connections with Frome or Beckington in Somerset.

Yerburys with Browning as a middle name seem to descend from Benjamin Yerbury (1738 to 1784) who was described as being "of Froom" when he married Susannah Appleton in Essex in 1772. Having said that, I don't know anything about Stewart or his father - the only William Browning Yerbury I've found died in London in 1873 though he had a brother James Browning Yerbury who was in India in the 1850s, and who was a victualler in Chippimg Sodbury in 1861.

Sorry I couldn't be more use but at this stage I think it was just coincidence.

Hello Darlene,
I'm sorry to tell you but you have followed the wrong Henry (a mistake that has been made before). There were 2 Henry's born in 1852. My Henry born 29/1/1852 and the other born a few months later. My Henry married Emily Cabble in Bristol in 1874. He died in 1894 and Emily died in Bristol Workhouse in 1909. They had three children, 1 boy and 2 girls. The other Henry also married an Emily but remained in Frome. I don't know much about him. If you go to Yahoogroups/Frome and ask to join(no fees involved) you will be able to ask and get a lot of information and help with your research. They are a lovely group of people. There are also some Yerbury descendants on there. Also try Genesreunited, as there are Yerburys on there too. My line and a some others, including (i think)some of your line.
Regards
Maggie

Wow, this is interesting, Maggie. My husband descends from John's son, Henry born about 1851. Are you then part of Walter's descendants? I have found some info on the family and would very much appreciate any information you have found. We did know that Henry's wife died when she was about 40 and he remarried. The step mom apparently kicked the children out of the house and Mike's Great grandfather Herbert Yerbury ended up in Wales and worked in a coalmine there. He met and married in Wales and in 1915 immigrated to Canada with his wife and 8 children. Darlene

my mum was a yerbury.I've traced the family back to Thomas born C1791 in Frome,Somerset. He married Mary Webb born C1792 in Frome. Their marriage took place in 1811, and they had two children, John and Mary Ann. Have traced all the family through and am now seeking living relatives. As has previously been said there were a lot of girls and quite a number of unmarried males!!! Is there anyone out there related to this particular branch? Am also looking for info on Ralph Arthur Yerbury who emigrated to Canada in 1907.

I believe Brian Marshall may have sent a reply some time ago but since then he and I have been able to make some advances in our knowledge about John. There was initially some doubt about his identity because of the ages he claimed at various censuses but now we're fairly certain that he was indeed the son of William Yerbury and Mary (Hughes) who emigrated to the US at about the time of Victoria's coronation (1838). In 1880 he was working as a Dyer and married to Nellie Morrison (see John Yerbury aged 30 in Chicago) and it looks as though by the 1900 census he's married to Mary and has 2 sons. By 1910 Mary had re-married, now to James Edward Picault and moved to Colorado. Other members of John's family lived in Chicago and Rock Island.
Regards, Martin yerbury

I am descended from some of the Raddues of Faribault County, MN, and accidentally found your Yerburys on a census record yesterday. In 1910, George & May (Alicia, I assume) were living in Seattle, with your Ralph and Lowell and also a George Jr. George Sr. was born ~1882 in Minnesota, and had a brother Samuel (b. ~1879 in MN). Their parents were William Raddue (b. Germany) & Ellen (b. England). From what I can tell, William died and Ellen then married a Jeremiah Yerbury.

I am descended from August & Fredericke Raddue of Faribault County. However, I have not been able to establish a link to William yet; I can only assume that the two families are related somehow. If you have any information in that area I would like to hear from you. Otherwise, this is all the information I have on the William Raddue family. Hope it helps.

I think I'm at last able to shed a little light on this question. I think the man you seek was the brother of John William YERBURY (1804 - 1858) and thus Francis YERBURY. The "William" bit is possibly taken from his father (also John Wm Y) but, having seen a possible for Francis in the 1871 census (Bath Walcot, aged 69 daughter Jane F aged 23 and a servant Jane Rennison) I looked again at Gordon Beavington's transcript for Bath Walcot and lo! there's a Francis WILLIAMS aged 49 with a daughter Jane (3) and a servant Jane KENNISON. That being the case, and I can't but think it's the answer, he's descended from the Bradford Yerburys of whom his grandfather and great grandfather were the builders of Belcombe Court and to which Francis was probably heir or part heir. It is also more likely that he's buried at Bradford than Bath - his father went back to the CofE though earlier generations were Presbyterians. Hope this helps.

Martin Yerbury

Thanks for the info; I'd be interested to see what was said about my 2 x ggf (Robert Allan Yerbury); I'd always thought he was involved in building Yerbury Road in Islington - at the time of the 1881 census it was in the process of being built - but that may just be a coincidence.

Yerbury & Dainton, both from Beckington, were 2/3rds of the main builders/contractors of Kilburn (North London). Samuel Joseph Dainton employeed 50 full time men and contracted with his relatives from Beckington, Rode and other local villages. There is a mention of this in a local history book on kilburn

Veronica Dainton

I don't know if it is much help, but I have a YERBURY pedigree chart that covers the period you are interested in. There are a couple of MEREWETHER families that married YERBURYs.
Edward (1585-1648) and Anna (Southby) Yerbury
eleven children:
Edward, 1616
John, m. (1) Jane Merewether
Robert, 1623
William, 1620
Richard, 1634
Elizabeth
Ann, 1618
Jane
Honor
and Eleanor, who m. Dr. Alworth, "Chan. to the Bp. of Oxford." They had a daughter,
Jane, who m. Dr. Merewether. Children are not listed for them, but in brackets is noted: (The family of Serj. Merewether.) Whether this means that Dr. Alworth is name "Serj---," or his father was "Serj.," I don't know.
The YERBURYs were a very prominent family at Trowbridge. They were in the cloth business. Edward Yerbury, the father of the above children, was a Commissioner for King Charles I.
My interest in YERBURYs is a daughter of Richard, named Mary, who married Ebenezer Ledyard 24 Feb 1697 at Bromham, Wiltshire, England. I have no other information on Mary Yerbury.
Alan Ledyard
DEANNEALEDYARD@cs.com

My YERBURY pedigree chart is pretty sketchy.
Only info I have is that Gifford Yerbury, a son of Thomas and Edith Yerbury of Bradford, was born 1599(?), and married Frances Hughes. They had three children, Gifford, Frances and Rebecca. I have no dates, and no more of that line. Thomas Yerbury was a clothier, and his will was dated 1612.
I wish I knew more.
George Raddue adopted them and they moved to California, also in the early 1900's I am just trying to find out about any family I might have in the Tacoma area.

Hi Shawn,

I am in New Zealand, the town is Motueka, near Nelson in the North of the South Island. However, I also spend a lot of time in Sydney, Australia.
