I'm looking for the parents and siblings of Perry York, b. ca. 1819 in PA. He appears in the 1850 Census for Rush, Schuylkill Co., PA with wife Mary and ch: Harriet and Silvester. In 1860 he's in Flowerfield, St. Joseph Co., MI with ch: Harriet, Sylvester, Thomas, and Amosa. In 1870, he's living with what appears to be a sister, Lavinia (York) (Rarick) Hutchison, and no family of his own. I believe he also may have had brothers, James and William, but I need some proofs.

Joseph York born 1818 in ME, died in GA

I am looking for birth place and parents of Joseph York born about 1818 in ME. I do not have exact date of death except to say he was in the 1850 census in Camden County GA and family listed as paupers in 1860 and spouse Elizabeth Harrell listed as a widow. He came to GA about 1839/1840 to work the lumber and steam mills. I do not know if he had siblings or if they came with him to GA to work. I have attached his picture.

Thanks for any leads.

I get a bit confused w/things at this point because there are so many Joshua's and Jesse's in these 2-3 generations.
I have a Bessie O'Dell and Mac & Helen O'Dell as my Grandmother's address book (along with an Osa Meyers). Not sure how or where that relation comes in. I have Joshua as having had 2 wives Nancy then Susan Duesenberg Sellers. But not 'necessarily' a Susan O'Dell (unless there is another step we are missing...cause I do show I am related to O'Dells. On One of the searches it comes up w/Jesse and Nancy Gibson being Joshua's parents, meaning Jesse would have been Joshua's father not uncle.. and SO...needless to say I'm a bit lost unless someone just got info wrong (or I did...but my info comes from here) I've been trying to get as much info as possible before signing up for a full membership to get copies of docs. You can email me at sbderrig@yahoo.com if you would like se could compare more?
Yes I believe this the same family. The last cenus I found Jesse on was Henderson Cty 1870,living with Joshua's family, listed as a retired farmer.I seem to remember him with Joshua again in Iowa after Joshua's wife died, but can't seem to find it.Do you have Joshua marrying a Susan O'Dell then moving to Missouri, then back to Iowa where Joshua died? Thanks for any info

Ok....Great! But my only confusion is then that you said your Benjamin Franklin York was born in 1924 in Oklahoma...his above post matched my info of Benjamin Franklin York being born in 1854....SO....('cause I'm apparantly slow at connecting dots :) )...Then you also have Joshua York then being your husbands gr Grandfather right? That is now where I am still stuck then. Does anyone have for certain who Joshua's father and mother were? There are contradictions w/dif postings that Jesse wasn't Joshua's uncle but rather his father but I can't get any of that to make sense. I had Joshua's parents as being yet another Benjamin York (middle name Franklin?-can't find concrete middle name) and Nancy Harry. and HIS possible parents being Jeremiah & Mary (?)...but again...nothing concrete. *My grandmother then would be your husbands cousin right? Her name was Edith York Franz (Alvah's daughter). If you have any further back generations would you be willing to share?
I believe I have a Jesse York who went to Mercer Cnty Ill.
My gr Grandfather was Alvah York. His father was Joshua York b: 12-23-1824 born in Bracken Cty, KY. My records so far show that Joshua moved to Keithsburg, IL w/an 'Uncle Jesse' (1793-1874), apparently Joshua's brother (have not been able though to locate concrete info on Joshua and Jesse's parents. My Joshua married 1st wife: Nancy Jane York in Mercer Cty ILL on 4-26-1846. They also had a son names Jesse Jefferson York b: 2-3-1863 d:3-21-2948 in Muscatine, IA.

Danny, I think your Benjamin York and JJYork's Benjamin York MAY be the same (including mine). I am interested in both your and "JJ's" info.
My Benjamin York #1- is Joshua's father (I believe)
Benjamin York #2- I have as Joshua's and Nancy York's son
Joshua and Nancy married in 1846 in Mercer Cty, Ill
Your Benjamin York MAY be my gr grandfather's brother.
My gr Grandfather was Alvah York born in 1867/1868. Alvah
married Amanda Crone in 1893 in Fruitland Ia. and had 6
(?) children one of them being my Grandmother Edith (York)
Franz
Both appear to be Benjamin Franklin York's. If the timelines match I believe the three of us may be somehow connected ??

Hello, my name is Ronald York and I have just started researching my family tree, so please excuse my sponding nearly 3 years after your message was sent out. Not sure if this info is still timely for you, but here goes. My great great grandfather was John Smith York who was born in Illinois in 1829 and moved to Texas sometime before the Civil War. He died in 1924 in Navarro Country TX.. His first daughter's name according the data that I have been able to find was Sarah Catherine York. She was born in 1851. Hope this might help a little. Thanks, Ronald York

Hi I'm Carolina and my ancestors came from Germany to the Netherlands. My search for the familyname is stuck in Germany. The most early name of my family is Carl Heinrich Yark and his son Eugene Victor Leopold Yark was born in Waldeck(Germany) around 1810. He went to the Netherlands and was a fourier in the army. He had 2 sons, 1 died and the other one was Wilhelmus Julius Augustinus Frederik Yark. He started the Dutch Family Yark. What ever happened to his Father I don't know yet. I do know there was also a Claus Heinrich Yark... and he was born in Germany. He also had relatives the went to USA as far as I know. My question to you is who is your relative on the grave in Germany... perhaps it's the missing link i'm seeking between families....

Re: Yorks in Dover NH

Hello Susan,

I am just a beginner at Ancestry research, so I have hit a wall at my Great Great Grand Father. My dad was George W. York Jr.He was born in Lawrence Ma. He died in July 2002. His father George W York was born in Dover NH in march of 1894 and was married to Katherine Lavin from Ireland. His father is William York also born in Dover NH in April of 1871 and he was married to Annie Rothwell I believe also from Dover. She was born in July of 1876. This where it gets a little sketchy. I believe William yorks father is George York born about 1835. I believe he was married to Mary Thompson born about 1855. As I said I did attend a York Reunion in South Berwick Me. and there was a family Bible present with signatures of Yorks going back many generations
but I was only about 20 and not interested in Geneology at that time. This took place the summer of 1980. Any help would be much appreciated. If you care to contact me via e-mail it is w.york@comcast.net.
Thank you, Bill York

Hello York People…

I have been working on this line for years and have miscellaneous bits of information. The correct name for this man is “Miletus York”. I don’t know why he is shown as Mathias on the 1850 census…..unless it’s simply census taker error. Just knowing this should help in your research.

I’m Wesley and Lucinda’s great granddaughter and would like to hear from some long lost cousins. Perhaps we’ll be able to exchange info.
A.L.
So I have no knowledge yet if we are connected to North Caroline.
