Pedro Zabala y Velasquez

I am looking for any family or information on Pedro Zabala y Velasquez. Born approximately 1875, he may have been from the Canary Islands. He was living in Trujillo Alto in 1920 with his wife Carmen Alejandro y Caraballo. His children from a previous marriage were Angela, Agustina and Laura Zabala y Ramos around 1900. In 1930 he was living in Trujillo Alto with Mercedes Ocasio de Zabala his 3rd(?) wife. He was married several times as you can see and was known to have two wives living together in the same house. He was light-skinned with very blue eyes.

www.raymondwhisnant.com shows her name as "Vera Marguerite ZAHOLA" ...the link to my grandfathers page is:

http://www.raymondwhisnant.com/p180.htm#i8997

If anyone has any information on Vera, my grandmother, I would really appreciate it.

I don't know her and have never met her, but it would be nice to find out about that part of my family.

I also know that my dad's brother's name was "Bruce". I noticed in one of the other responses, it was mentioned his last name might be "Daly" and that there's a chance that Vera has passed.

If anyone has any information, please respond.

Thanks.

Hello. I also have made small attempts to find out information on Vera (Zabala-?) I know about as much as you do...she is my grandmother. The only info I have , is that she was in Long Island, NY (this info came from my father, Rex Ervin...shortly after my grandfather's passing). I had an address for her once, and is still in my possesion...somewhere. I even wrote her once, but never sent it. Can I ask...what is your association?

Thanks.
Lori

I just started researching my family tree about two years ago. what sparked my intrest was not knowing my father or his side of the family. I knew my father was Bruce Daly, later found out by contacting him who my grandmother was. Veronica Margarite Zabala born March 7, 1924 died October 31, 1973. I was two when she died. My father said he was a only child. If you think we share the same family search you can contact me by email anytime.

Looking for Vera Marguerite Zabala not sure if that is the correct spelling of her last name...possibly born in NY in the 1920s...her parents were immigrants (first generation I think) She had at least 2 sons Bruce, last name not sure of, and Rex Ervin Whisnant born in 1951 in Burke County, North
Carolina. She was married to and divorced from Rex Whisnant somewhere around 1950 to 1965. ANY help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Pedro Zabala of P.R. d. 1961

My grandfather was Pedro Zabala (legally married to Antolina Soto who is said to be of Taino ancestry). I don’t know when or where in PR he was born, only that he died in 1961 (in PR). All I know is that my grandfather had many "wives" and therefore many children. With Antolina he had: Enrique (my father), Jorge (my father’s twin), Paulino, Pedro, and Francisca.

Re: related?

Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you sooner. I recall my father mentioning a Martin Zabala but I don’t know what is the relationship (grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, etc.). Following is the information I have found on my grandfather’s side:

Pedro Zabala Rivera was born circa 1891 in Puerto Rico. He married Antolina Sanchez Soto who according to my father was Taino (she’s also listed as just Antolina Soto in another census). Pedro and Antolina bore the following children: Paulino, Francisca, Pedro Alejandro, Herminio, Enrique (my father), Jorge Eliseo, and Felicita (I believe Felicita had a different mother). This info can be found in the 1920 (pg. 13A, Pugnado Adentro) and 1930 (pg. 5A, Almirante Sud) census in Vega Baja. In the 1930’s census I also found my g-grandmother Jacinta Rivera. My g-grandfather is not recorded in the census. I don’t know if this is because he had already passed on by the 1930’s census or if his name was omitted, in error, because he was not there when the census representative was gathering information. Also listed on this census is Antolina’s mother, Antolina Soto (apparently mother and daughter had the same name), and Jose and Consuelo Zabala (Pedro’s siblings).

Can you find out from your husband if he remembers anything about his family? Even something that may seem insignificant to him, may actually determine whether or not we’re related.
