I looking for information on the Zenon Family as well as the Prejean Family.
My great-grand father was Pierre Zenon married to Lizman Goodie Zenon.
I am married to a Prejean. My husbands grand parents are
Antoine Prejean and Grace Goodbier Prejean.

Hi Garvin, it is Diane in Sacramento. I was in Abbeville and Gueydan this summer but only had a chance to speak to a couple of older people, one in a nursing home in Abbeville and another in Petite Anse who was a Derouen by birth and a Louis by marriage. Her mother was a Broussard, she know a lot about the Delcambre. I am trying to put the facts together and will put them in an email to you and others who are interested. I have communicated with two of your closer cousins. One is the greatgreat granddaughter of Elly or E.L. Zenon, living in Texas and the other is the great granddaughter of Adolphe Zenon also living in Texas.

My husband has been very ill and my days are full. I will try to give you a call Thursday or Friday because we have nurses, therapist and a doctor appointment. I did receive your call. Promise we will chat.

actually Leon Eduard Joseph Zenon only had 4 children with Nancy Delcambre. Joseph, Adline, Angellina and Celestine. Louisa, Augusta and Margurete were Robinsons the father was Howell robinson. is this Diane up in northern California?
my grandfather was William Zenon but he passed away in Texas just after the war. my great grandfather was Alexis Derouens half brother. I have a copy of records a book Notre Dame du Lac Delcambre, Louisiana 1897-1972

Yes, everything you say is 100% accurate as best we can tell. Joseph Leon Edouard Zenon was initially married to Nancy Delcambre and lived in Delcambre. It is told to me by my Aunt who was a Comeaux married to a DeRouen that Joseph L.E. Zenon left Nancy Delcambre with whom he had several children for Marie Louviere. Alexis is the only child of Marie Louviere Zenon who is a DeRouen, the rest are all Zenons. Her only daughter that lived to maturity was Mathilda (Matilia) who married Alexandre Thibodeaux in I believe 1899.

Do you have any new information on the family? I am planning a trip to Louisiana in the early spring. I am going to Abbeville to do some research at the courthouse and at the church. Just requested some death certificates and will share what I learn. Who was your grandfather and where does he live?

Well leon edward joseph zenon was my gg grandfather and Id wanted to make some corrections. He was born around 1829 not 1869. as far as the kids with marie louviere they are all zenon's not louvieres except for alexis derouen. leon at that time had two women in his life, lived with one and had children with Marie louviere whom he didnt live with at that time. children were assumed louvieres due to the fact that in 1880 census marie louviere was the head of house hold. in 1889 leon and marie were maried.

Hi Gwen,
I live in California and I do believe that Helene lives in Katy or she did the last time I emailed her.

If you live in Louisiana you prounce DeRouen - almost as if you are saying derwain, but (the California DeRouens) have always said DeeRowan. Since I have been doing more and more research and speaking to some of the older family members, I am not using the Louisiana pronounciation.

I am always excited to meet family members and look forward to chatting with Mary. Again, thank you for contacting me.

By the way, I thought you lived in Katy, Texas. I read so many comments about the DeRouens and Zenons I couldn't remember who actually lives in Katy. It might be Helene Boutte.

Gwen, this is very exciting. I would be delighted to communicate with Mary. It was our understanding that Lizzie only had two sons, we did not know about a daughter, but I do recall reading her obiturary and saw 2(?)sisters?

Our cousin Mary Ann in New York and I are the two who are trying to dig up our family history. Mary Ann is my grandfather Joseph DeRouen's brother's youngest daughter. Her father was Joseph Mose DeRouen.

I live in Sacramento, California but spend time each year in Louisiana where the family still has routes. Please tell Mary that we have family currently living in Houston.

I think the other son was Edouard. I've seen Joseph's name as Joseph Leon Edouard Zenon.

I will give your cousin, Mary, this message. She is Lizzie's granddaugther. She's excited by what we have already discovered. By the way, she lives in Houston.

I was telling her this morning about her famous cousin, Golden Jr. the architect. I Googled his name thinking I would get info on the father and got him. I see there is a street named after him in Abbeville.

My name is Diane and I am the great granddaughter of Alexis DeRouen. Alexis is the son of David DeRouen and Marie Louviere. I have been researching this portion of my family for a few years now. You are correct that E.L. Ely is the half brother of Alexis. There is a very long story about my great great grandmother Marie Louviere Zenon and Joseph Zenon. All of her other children are in fact Zenons. In the 1880 census, Marie lived in Lake Peigneur with her children Alexis, Joseph, Matilla, Ely (born c. 1880) and the other son(s) escape my memory. At one point they lived in Delcambre, Abbeville and Spring Hill, LA. My grandfather Joseph N. DeRouen is the son of Alexis DeRouen. I have a lot of information that I am willing to share with you. My Co-worker's grandfather was E L/Ely/Elie/Eli/Elijah Lee Zenon. He was born in Vermillion Parish in 1879/1880. He is on the 1920 with his wife, Bertha Jackson Zenon and Lizzie.

We learned that Eli was a Louviere. Later his mother married Joseph Leon Edouard Zenon. It appears that either Joseph gave them his last name or they assumed it. We found out that Marie's firstborn, Alexis was really a Derouen and not a Louviere or Zenon.

We are definitely related. Cousin Walter lived in Port Arthur, Texas. He worked for the refinery there and was married (can't remember his wife's name) and he had no children. They were all originally from the Abbeville area so you seem to have a lot of good information already. Cousin Gold lived in Grosse Isle, Louisiana. He still has children living in the same area. A daughter, I think Marie, lives in his old home, a son lives next door, etc. I remember him having two daughters and three or four sons. His wife was a Vallot. I think you called me the other morning, please write again.

My great grandfather was Pierre Prejean Sr and he was Pierre Prejean Jr and Marie Elia Prejean's father. Pierre Prejean Jr married Charlotte Glaude. AS his father Married Mathilda Glaude. Do you know how Mathilda and Charlotte were related or if they were related? Except for being In-laws. Johnathan do you know Hilda, Hazel. Theresa, Anna Bell and Clifton (deceased)? They are some of Elia Prejean and Pierre Zeno's grandchildren

Hello,

My father's name is also Ulysses Zenon and his father was Homer Zenon. French Creole is their primary language. They were born in Anse La Butte near Breaux Bridge in the parish of St. Martin. My Dad is 92 years old and lives in Lafayette. He is the last of a family of 10 brothers and sisters. His brothers were: Augustave, Armand, Emile, Pascual, Leonel. His sisters were: Anna, Mary, Ernestine. I can't remember the name of his other sister.

I believe I have heard my father mention an uncle named Adolph.

Have you learned any more about the Zenon family since you posted that you would be willing to share? I am just beginning to seek out our family history. Oh, I just remembered: my father always spoke of an uncle or great uncle (Jean-Louis Zenon) who had several wives and many children sired in different places in So. Louisiana. I believe he said he settled in Abbeville. I know that there are Zenons there, too.

As you can see. I am a Zenon, too. And I am a junior. My father was born (as I and all my brothers and sisters were) in Anse La Butte, La. in November, 1911. There was a branch of the Zenon family there. The nearest town was Breaux Bridge in St. Martin Parish. The parish seat is St. Martinville.
