Bruno Hugo was one of my great-grandmother, Helena Olivia Ziegenfuss Cauble's, brothers. I am the Ziegenfuss YDNA project administrator. Gottlieb's descendants have tested, along with others of the Odenwald and Eichsfeld "Z" lines (of PA and GER)and they share common lines. We are still searching for Gottlieb and Fredreka Trenkmann Ziegenfuss' parents.
Revis Leonard

Greetings!
I think we might be researching the same family. I have an ancestor Peter Ziegenfus b. August 9 1798, Obermilford twp. Northampton, PA, d August 19, 1855, Ft Wayne, IN. I have his father as Jacob and mother as Esther Neidlinger. Perhaps he is a brother or cousin of someone in your family tree? The spelling can be frustrating, but the location of Northampton, PA is very interesting. See my public tree Snyder. I would be very pleased to compare notes with you.
Best Wishes
Barbara

Mary Rosenberger of Bucks Co PA b 1813;

daughter of Henry Rosenberger and Anna Derstine; married in 1834 to Peter Ziegenfuss b 1807 is my Ggrandmother.

I’ve inherited a sampler she made when she was 10. In addition to the design it gives her name and date (‘Mary Rosenberger her work 1823’) and the names ‘Sarah’ and ‘Edward’.

I’d originally thought that Sarah and Edward were her parents, but clearly they are not. I’m now wondering whether they might be siblings deceased in infancy (although there’s no willow in the sampler).

Does anyone know who on earth they are?

And does anyone have a date of death and/or place of internment for Mary?

Thanks very much
I was looking for some Ziegenfuss info on the family of Gottlieb and Fredereka Sophia Louisa Trenkman Ziegenfuss (Bruno's parents) and saw your postings. I am the gr-grand-daughter of Helena Z. Cauble, Bruno's sister. FYI, we have a Family Tree DNA Ziegenfuss surname project. Two of the gr-grandsons of Gottlieb have tested. Researchers have long said that the 3 main lines of Z's are out of the same line of Germany. We have tested the 3 lines (2 men from each, including our guys). Guess what? They match in DNA markers. The 1930's researcher was correct. The lines called "North German Line" (Gottlieb's line that came to TX in 1885); the "Odenwald Line" and the "Eichsfeld Line" all match in Y-DNA. We may never know exactly what male in Germany we come out of, but at least we know we tie together.

I too have been doing research on the Ziegenfuss family. This family has so many descendents with same name it can be confusing. However, the name Zickerfoose is usually used in the southern family branch and may not even be related. Jacob is very common for the PA lineage. I also have a John Ziegenfuss who served in the War of 1812 from PA.

I am looking for information on a John Ziegenfuss (no idea about birth date but guess around 1800-1820), whose niece Angelina Green is my ggmother. Angelina was born around 1823 and married John Jordan Upchurch in 1841 in Raleigh,NC. John Z. moved to NC with them, ran a hotel for a while, then returned to Bethlehem. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My neighbor across the street is a relative by marriage to this family, and my wife is a WRIGHT descendant.(small world). Do you happen to know which cemetery they are buried in?

I am decended through Henry F. Ziegenfuss (1835-1919) who I believe to be the son of Michael Ziegenfuss and Susanna Miller primarily because he was living right next to them in the 1860 census (with Knobles in 1850). I am now stuck again as I can't trace the lineage of Michael or Susanna.

Any ideas?

Kirk;
I haven't researched the Ziegenfuss line, however I have extinsive information on Roxie Lee Wright's ancestors, siblings and descendants on my web site
http://www.birthwright.com Most of the Ziegenfuss researchers are concentrating on the families that came from the PA area, while Bruno and brother came from Germany directly. My work is a combination of 10 years personal research, and 10 years of gathering other researchers work. All the information I have is backed by the US Census. I live in Stephens County not far from Rush Springs.
Roxie Lee Wright daughter of
Erastus Wright & Laura Ann Kelley, son of
James Madison Wright & Sarah Traweek son of
John Wright & Rebecca Whitmire

I've been researching the Ziegenfuss line. My Great Grand Father was Lee Ziegenfuss. Will have to pull out my binder so what are you needing?

Lisa "WineLdy2@comcast.net"

From Dorothy Salter-I'm posting for Andrew Peters re: Warren and Emma Ziegenfuss. He says:

Two of my great-aunts are living and we will contact them for further info on the ancestors of Warren and Paul, who were definitely brothers. It is also believed that Warren and Paul had only one sister, possibly Flossie. Will check on that. Descendants of Warren and Emma were 4 daughters: Evelyn, Betty, Rita, and Shirley. I am the grandson of Evelyn. Only Rita and Betty survive today. We can send pictures of both Warren and Emma if you like. Signed, Andrew Peters
