Hello!

My great grandfather was Peter A Zimmer, son of Peter and Mary, who married Elizabeth Englert. They lived on Leonard Street in Dansville. I am currently researching that side of the family. I looked up Remesweiler and didn't see that as a town or area. I have the homestead in Sankt Wendel, Saarland- hence all the Wendel's in that side of the family. Do you know which cemetery the Zirkelbachs are buried? I'm headed upstate today and was going to take photos of the stones.

Harry Zimmer m. Harriet Liebing - Cleveland, OH

I am trying to locate when and where Harry (middle initial H.?) and Harriet (Liebing) Zimmer went after getting married in Cleveland, OH on Jun 29, 1898. Harry was born 4/18/1874, and Harriet was born around December 1876. They had one daughter, Gladys H. (b. June 1899?) who married Herman Fink (b. 1903 or 1904?, NY) on 12/29/1923 in Cleveland, OH. Herman and Gladys (Zimmer) Fink had a daughter, Shirley, born in Cleve, OH in either 1924 or 1925. I cannot find any record of the deaths of Harry Zimmer, Harriet (Liebing) Zimmer, Herman Fink, Gladys (Zimmer) Fink or Shirley Fink (most likely married) though I was able to locate Herman & Gladys (Zimmer) Fink living in Cleveland Heights, Ohio with their then 5 year old daughter, Shirley, in the 1930 Census. Harry's parents were Henry Zimmer (b. 1852, d. 1934, Cleve, OH) and Mary (Schaefer) Zimmer (b. 1853, Germany d. 1934, Cleve, OH). Whatever happened to their son and daughter-in-law, granddaughter and grandson-in-law and great granddaughter is a MYSTERY! Anyone out there who can shed light on this? Thanks.

Hi Craig,
I was just in PA for my Uncle Dick's funeral. Some of the "York Zimmers" were at the viewing. Shirley Kline was there with two other men, I presumed to be her brothers...probably relatives of yours.

Your grandfather, Charles' older (?) brother Walter is my grandfather...Dick was one of Walter's 3 sons...

I got a copy of the in-take record from Paradise Protectory from 15 Nov 1911 and it says that Walter came from St Paul's Orphanage, Reading PA...born in NY. about 8 years old (date unknown)... but it also says that his father's name is CHarles... living, whereabouts unknown...

I contacted St Paul's Orphanage in Reading (in 2001) and they don't have records prior to 1920...but the earlier records are in the Diocese of Allentown, to get more info contact the Dean of Banks County (in 2001 it was Monsenior Treston) 610-678-3767... I got busy with other things and never called...

One of the York Zimmer men that I spoke with at the viewing alluded to a birth certificate on Charles. Do you have that and can you send me a copy?

I am on facebook and my aol email is klinmesser@aol.com

Hch Zimmer / Ludwig Zimmer ; from Germany to NY to Ohio

I have traced the Zimmer side of my family to the arrival of "Hch" Zimmer (that's the only first name listed) with his wife and children. My next ancestor is his son, Ludwig Zimmer who immigrated in 1881.

I know they ended up in Ohio where most of the Zimmers in my line remained. Ludwig married in 1886 to Amelia or Emelia.

I havent found Hch Zimmer in any other census data and I havent been able to link to the German side of the family older than Hch.

Anyone have any clues to Hch Zimmer? Thanks!

I too have Zimmer ancestry coming from Bavaria/Germany. My closest Zimmer is my mother and she was raised in a strict Catholic upbringing. Her mother's side is Irish so maybe the Irish-Catholic side took over the family's religion. As far as I know, however, Zimmers are not Jewish but we are from Germany.

My Great-Great Grandfather, Garfield Zimmer, was one of their children and I'd like to find out more about them.
I was adopted and found out that my maternal grandfather was Willard Zimmer of NY, and worked at Sofia(sp)Bros. moving and storage. He and Dorothy Partin had my birthmom Barbara Elizabeth Zimmer. My birthfather (Al Regn) whom is loving and wonderful ended up being married to Barbara after she gave me up. My dad told me of a possible daughter of Opa Willard whom was turned away as well. I do not know if there is any connection. But I would be thrilled to know any Zimmer history. Good luck and thank you. Sherril Beaton

I too was adopted and birthmothers father was willard zimmer whom worked for Sophiabrothers (sofia?) moving and storage company in nyc. I know a daughter besides Barbara Zimmer (my bio mom)was turned away when trying to connect, not unlike what has happened to myself. I'm not sure if my grandparents were even married (Dorothy Partin and Willard Zimmer). I still wonder who and where my aunt is. Willard was raised in NY and passed i believe in 1988. Maybe this is the key? sherriltheartist1@hotmail.com
