Re: Adam Zimmerman and Barbara Fisher

Hi Stan, are you still looking for information on these families? I may be able to help you. My Culpeper Co., VA. Browns married into the [Sucky/Suckey] Zimmermn family.

I am looking for information on Robert Fisher Brown [b. 1759, Culpeper Co., VA.]. Robert, his son & some of his descendants have the Fisher name as their middle name. I'm trying to find the tie in between the Fisher family & my Brown ancestors. Robert was supposedly part Cherokee.

There is a 1780 Culpeper Co., VA. will of Christopher Zimmerman Jr. In his will, Christopher mentions my Robert Fisher Brown & Robert's brother Pollard Brown as his heirs. Also there at the reading of this will were a John & Thomas Brown. I'm trying to find the connection of this John & Thomas Brown to Robert & Pollard Brown & that Christopher Zimmerman family. Let mee know if you're still interested in more information.

One last thing, on my Family Tree DNA matching results page, two of the surnames listed as being DNA connected to my Brown family are a Zimmerman DNA submitter, 3 different Fisher DNA submitters and the most recent DNA submitter was a Weitman. Other popular surnames in the DNA submitter database results page are Fuller, Phillips, May, Cauble, & Martin.

Marshall

alien71121@netzero.com

Hi apldezinefashions,
There doesn't seem to be any member of either end of the
Zimmerman to Zimmerman/Carpenter tree that have the last name of Beckmans. I was checking out the number of people interested in Christian R. Zimmerman today. It stands at
123 accounts. That's a lot of Zimmerman's. Only Micheal and myself have had the DNA test done, so we know for sure that our two tree link up with a common ancester 9 geration back.
With as big as some of the Zimmerman families were, DNA testing is going to cut through a lot of confusion as to who is related to who.

Jim Zimmerman
alpine75

In going thru photos of a deceased relative, I found several photos she identified as Arthur Zimmerman. He was a friend of hers, may have gone to school together. She went to Wilson High School, El Sereno, CA, graduating in 1943. Photos were taken in maybe early to mid 1940's. Would be happy to send photos to family.

Hi everone.
I would like to start off by saying that I have had both DNA test done, and have found some new relatives. Distant they are, but with as Zimmerman's as seem to have been born back in the day. Starting hundreds of families. It would help a lot if more people got this done.

Talk to ya later,
Jim
alpine75 on Ancestry.com

Zimmerman's of Eckford, Michigan.

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to find the parents of George W. Zimmerman and the decendants of the early family that aren't in the Zimmerman tree already. Some of the names in the family are unusual so I hope this will be of some help.

My 3rd Great Grandfather, George W. Zimmerman (1824-1893)who settle in Eckford, Michigan. Spent his early life in the New York area. George who was from Pennsilvania, met and married Charlotte A. (Unknown last name) (1824-1893), in New York area. Charlotte was born in Connecticut. All of her children were born in New York.

I'm not sure if it was upstate N.Y. or N.Y. City. The family eventually moving to Michigan, because the land was either cheap or free.

The Childeren were;
Jerome A. Zimmerman 1849-1922 N.Y. Born.
Adelaide A. Zimmerman 1853-1931 N.Y. born.
Kate A. Zimmerman 1850-1924 N.Y. Born.
Kate married John Lyman Harris 1848-1924, they had a daughter Kate also.

All the above are burried in Eckford, Michigan in the East Eckford Cemetary. I have not been able to find a paper trail that would lead to George's parents, or what his middle name is. Though I suspect it is George Washington, I don't know this for a fact.

I have gone through all 1400 of the old message on the Zimmerman family board with no luck. I also read that Pesident George Washington supposedly spent a couple of nights in Zimmerman farm house giving rise to a lot of baby boys being named George Washington Zimmerman. That a nice thing but also confusing when trying to get past the the wall that we eventually hit when doing ancestry work.

So any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Jim Zimmerman
alpine75
The Zimmerman Family Tree.

I'm trying to search for a Jewish connection to Matthias Zimmerman who was either born in 1750 in PA or arrived as an immigrant. He had changed his surname to Carpenter and went to North Carolina and worked in a Moravian settlement. He married an Elizabeth Miller who was Moravian. Their children and their children's children retained biblical names like Samuel, David, Jacob, Levi and Matthias. Does anyone have any information to give, or am I chasing a ghost more than likely?

Hi Penny,

I am wondering what your findings on The Zimmerman side were? I can ask my mom what she knows if you have not been able to find much, I know your post was long ago. My mother is the daughter of Elwin (Dutch) Zimmerman. I knew there was a Kenneth but did not hear much about him. I met Naidyne before she died, and James (sonny)Zimmerman.

Annas Yaisley Zimmerman was an early settler just North of Stroudsburg in Lower and Middle Smithfield. He was a member of a large family that first settled there in 1802. His grandfather was my 5G grandfather. I would be happy to hold onto this photo if it is still available, and keep it with our family archives. I can be reached at zimmerman.skip@gmail.com.

Thanks for making the offer. If you've already given it to another family member, would you mind connecting me with them?

Thanks,
Skip Zimmerman

Update: Joseph's father was Joseph, 1800-1873 in Middle Smithfield Twp., Monroe, PA. Descendants of Johann Georg Zimmerman (b. 1763) and his father George Zimmerman (b. 1738) of Berks County, PA. Lineage before that is unclear. Many Zimmermans in Berks County mid-18th century. Any connective information for George would be most appreciated.

Seeking info about the origin and parentage of MARIA MAGDALENA SAUTER, b. in Moerschwil, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, who m. JOHANN MICHEL ZIMMERMAN of New Goshenhoppen, Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania, in 1756. Most Ancestry trees (and there are many) have her as dau. of JACOB SAUTER, but since he would have been four years old at the time of her birth, and his wife wasn't even born yet, I doubt if they were her parents. I suspect she was dau. of MICHEL SAUTER, who imm. in 1750. Does anyone have any info about MAGDALENA SAUTER's family that doesn't include JACOB? Thanks for any and all help. -- Kathleen

I have a bunch of Zimmermans in Altamont, NY (Albany County). They descend from Joseph Zimmerman (and his wife Sarah Nichols) born near Scranton, PA in 1839. At the turn of that century, he's living in Altamont and working as a conductor on the D&H Railroad. His sons are Hiram and Joseph. Older Joseph is my gg grandfather. I am seeking information about his parentage - perhaps having come from Germany pre-1839. Will happily share what I have.

Seeking any information about Joseph Zimmerman, originally from the Scranton, PA area(?), and lived in Altamont, NY. Buried at Clark's Green Cemetery, Clark's Green, PA with his wife Sarah Nichols. Had two sons, Joseph and Hiram. Worked as a conductor for the D&H Railroad. Born 1839, died 1913. Would like to know his father and mother. Father was apparently from Germany. Settled perhaps in the Scranton, PA area prior to the creation of that city from several smaller towns.
