I too am decended from the Ashe County, NC Dolinger brothers. My grandfather was Benjamin Orie Dolinger, resided in Lansing, NC. My sister, Patricia Love DOlinger Callahan has our tree branch goping back to Germany, but we have many holes to fill in. Any help would be appreciated. Also noted was the following post:

QUESTION: Did William Winton have brothers, some who went into Ahe County NC and others who stayed in Grayson County VA near Whitetop Mtn. or is William the the "trunk of the tree" so to speak.

Howard Thomas:
So good of both of you to reply to my first message. Would you like to join the DOLINGER
LIST which has a lot of info on the William
Dolinger family from Germany to VA? If so,
go to: http://www.onelist.com
Select the DOLINGER COMMUNITY or you can
subscribe by email:
dolinger-subscribe@onelist. com

We have all twelve of William Catherine's
children and some of their families down to
our generation. However, none of us have
been able to find their parents or siblings
in Germany. I've communicated with several
Dollingers in Bavaria but so far they are not the same lineage.

Howard, would you believe that your grandmother, MAUDE ALICE is my husband's aunt? She married ZEK JONES and they had
one son, as best I remember. My husband's
name is James, s/o LUTHER.

Thomas, I'm not familiar with the name, BENJAMIN ORIE. From which child did he
descend? Was your sister able to connect
with the Germany ancestors?

According to the census William's brother,
JOHN also came to VA. Sometimes the name
was spelled DORHINGER/DOLLINGER.

Those of us on the DOLINGER LIST would be
quite anxious for you to join and perhaps
all of us together can 'fill in the gaps'!

What a delight to hear from you and am looking forward to your response.

Yes, Doug, it is quite possible that both
names come from the same roots!

There is also DOLIN, DOLLINGER, DELLINGER,
DILLINGER - all seem to have come from Bavaria. NOW TO FIND THE CONNECTIONS?

Do you have info which you are willing to share? If so, my email address is:
