My parents divorced when I was a baby, but I am a Melhorn. My aunt Georgia Melhorn from Oliver Springs is a big historian. I received a lot of info from her years ago on the Melhorns. I do not know them very well, but this is what I have from her records:
Gus (Gustav Christopher Mehlhorn) was born 1847 in Germany, He died in Tennessee. I have that he was married to Margaryha Powell.
His father is Christian Frederick Mehlhorn born in Sachsen, Germany on 5-1-1820 and died 5-3-1884 at Camp Austin, Morgan Co., TN
He was a farmer that owned 1356 acres. He married Wilhemine Kaempfer born 6-6-1819 in Sachsen, Germany; Died 11-11-1879 at Camp Austin, Morgan Co., Tennessee. Both of them are buried in the Camp Austin Cemetary. They have 6 kids. My line comes from Gus's brother Frederick Hermann. As far as I know my aunt still lives in Oliver Springs and she is the wife of Charles Melhorn. As a historian of the Melhorns, she would be a good contact point for you. The other brothers and sisters are as follows:
Christian Frederick born 8-22-1843
Christina Welhelmin born 1847
Auguste Emilie born 6-4-1855
Rudolph Frederick Christian born 7-18-1858
I do have any information on the parents of Christian Frederick and I am new at this whole genealogy thing. I did a lot when I was a teen-ager, but I hope this has helped.

We could very well be related. It is a very uncommon name. My lineage comes directly from Sachsen, Germany with Christian Frederick Mehlhorn born 5-1-1820; died 5-3-1884; he married Wilhelmine Kaempfer born 6-6-1819; died 11-11-1899. They both came to America and settled in Deermont-Melhorn Station; later called Camp Austin.

I do not see a George in the family group sheets I have, but do you know the names of any of the brothers and sisters? It could be that the links all came in on the same boat, but some settled farther south. There are a lot of Melhorns in PA and TN. I do not know the family at all. My aunt when I was a teen-ager gave me a lot of the genealogy, but I never knew them very well. She probably has more information now as my teen-age years were a while back.
