Could Zaloga and Zaluga spellings be the same? My father was Jozef Zaluga, born 1895 or 1897, to parents Wicynty (Vincent) & Maryjanna (Cichos) Zaluga, in Sanniki, Poland. I cannot locate any family information. Sorry that I do not know "Rodziny." I remember pronunciation as you have noted. Would appreciate hearing from you. Marjorie

Marg, the ZALUGA name is a separate name from Zaloga. But both
are Polish in origin and I will look Zaluga up in the "Nazw-
isk w Polsku" at the Chicago Polish Library when I go there next. CICHOS - "CHEE-hohs", meaning "quiet" is also a Polish
name and I will look that up also. I suggest you use <pgsa.
org> Databases on the net, & also <Shtetlseeker-towns> to
find villages in Poland- you can do a lot with shtetlseeker.
Wincenty and Marianna have several spellings.Use<ellisisland
records> & <HallofHonor> also. "Rodziny"= Family(surname) &
is pronounced "roh-GEE-nee". I'll get back to you! Jerry Z.

Jerry, thank you very much for your information! Believe I have found correct Sanniki town using Shtetlseeker as you suggested - Is Rodziny name connected with Zaluga name? I appreciate your help! Marjorie

Re: ZALUGA(I)-"za-WOOH-ga"... rodziny means family

Use the "distance" feature of <Shtetlseeker-town> to get a
listout of nearby villages of any city or town. By typing in
the coordinates of a central village, you can get a listout
of towns within 30 miles of central focal point. Can even
limit listout to villages beginning with 1 specific letter!
Also, use "Chuck's Place-favorites" to get a bunch of great
sites incl. LDS, pgsa.org-PGSA, Genforum, etc...Haven't been
downtown Library yet..will get back to you. Use my Email for
special requests... Jerry Z.

My grandmother was Marianna Faszczewska from this village just SE of Lomza. Village had many Faszczew-
skis, thus family-named village. Use "Shtetlseeker-towns" to get good maps & click on 'circled dot' to the right of "Faszcze" to get listing of towns within 10 mile of Faszcze. Nearest church was Sokoly and Mormons/
LDS has filmed the area. Check " FHLCatalog-search place" to get film numbers!!! Powodzenie

Hello,
My great grandmother is Agapia Alexeevna Zaloga (1867-1951) born in Silesia, Poland. Her father was Alexis Zaloga from Murmansk, Russia. Her mother was Akilina Shupina from Megalovsk, Russia. Agapia lived 20 years or more in Habarovsk, Siberia, married to Johan C. Von Lode, before coming to California with her daughter Lydia in 1918. If you have any information on a connection to the Zaloga or Shupina families that might relate to my ancestors, I would appreciate your help.
Thanks.
