Surnames: Simpson ~ Statten
I am trying to find the final resting place of great grandparents with hopes of getting birth and death dates in order to get documents. George and Maria Simpson, St. Helens, Lancashire. They had one son, William George Simpson also born in St. Helens in 1909 and died in Baltimore, Maryland, USA 1971. He married Sarah Statten in St Helens and our records show that she was born there in 1903 and her parents are James Hinds Statten and MAria Gornall. Any information would be greatly appreciated. We do not know Maria's maiden name.

Dorothy,

thank you so much. I am actually helping my grand daughter research her Father's side of the tree and somewhere along the line we must have copied that name wrong. I greatly appreciate your help.

There is also a Braithwaite Statter b 1853 Drigg???

Wonder if he is James brother???

He is in Liverpool in 1881 and is visiting the Jones family. He is a coachman.(Think he married Sarah Jones in 1883)

There is an Elizabeth Statter d Mar quarter 1865 West Derby

Also a William Statter d age 68 Sep quarter 1898 Liverpool

I can't be sure they are yours though??

Dorothy,

From my son-in-law's father: he says there were the following Statter children: Lizzie (probably Elizabeth), Ettie, Polly, Nellie, Sarah (his mother), Burt (probably Braithwaite) Jim, and William. So some of the names that you past on to me seem right. I will have to try to eventually get some birth documents from England to ensure that I have the right folks. I really appreciate the help.

(my grand-daughter is Lauren Simpson and lives in Maryland. She wants to give her Dad his family tree and crest. I am still helping her find it all.)

Mary-

I appreciate all the help. I am also looking for the family of George Simpson with wife Maria (unknown last name). Their son is the great grandfather of my son-in-law. Their son is William George Simpson born June 21, 1909 in St. Helens, Lancshire. Any information on them would be great.

William married Sarah Statter- family lore says they were coal miners too.

Cathy,
You are probably best starting from 1901 in view of the date of birth of William George, but in case you get lucky there you might be able to connect with either of these two which I have found in the right location in 1891.

If you make a connection to any of the above they should be traceable back to 1881 at www.familysearch.org.
