My great-grandfather Albert Walter Gamage (of Gamages Department Store) was born in 1855 in Hereford - I only know that his father's name was John or Henry, his occupation was decorator/painter and then he became a farmer, I can't find his family at all. I don't know if he had brothers of sisters - although reading this message board - he could have had a brother David Carr Gamage and on the internet there was a reference to an Eric T Gamage. Can anyone help - I found Albert in the 1881 census and then again in 1901 census.

Thanks, Miranda Young (nee Gamage

Maria have you ever heard of Dio Datus Gamage, he ended up in the US, he was something of a black sheep, famous family in London, he worked on the Railways in Herefordshire as an engineer. I tried to help an American girl, descendent, to find out more about him, it must be the same family ?
What do you think FRED

You surely know that A W Gamage's elder son was Leslie Carr Gamage, one-time Chairman and MD of the GEC. If you get in touch with me I can tell you a great deal more about that side of your family.
