Apologies if this has been asked before.
The Yewdell family can be found in 1881 living in Bishopwearmouth Durham.(56 Tyne Street)
William A Yewdell together with wife Ann E plus children John R,Richard and Hannah.
Could anyone with access to older census records give me some feedback on this family.
I have been told this family has Yorkshire links,but without fathers name/mothers maiden name I'm lost.

Birth certificate shows only fathers name-Another William?

Had a look on 1851 can't find him but will keep looking, this Archibald think I found him married to a Margaret had 4 children ranging from 16 down to Thomas who's 4 which fits with your census. If margaret died and there are a few candidates, then he re- married Sept 1860 to Hannah Gowling.

Robert Jno Youdell / head age 34 marriner
Hannah Youdell / wife age 30
William A Youdell / son age 16 months
Anthony Skelton reads brother in law but is in fact father in law age 73 agriculturist.
Notice the spelling of Yewdell?

So he was a Robert John sneaky and the spellings totally different, I found a skelton marriage to a yewdell so they must all be connected. You found him thats the main thing glad to help anytime if you hit anymore brick walls.

Update to earlier messages.
After trawling through various archives,I am still chasing William (Yewdall). Looking at period 1830-1837 Leeds St Paul's church.
For all you Sunderland Yewdell named people, you now have connections with the Yewdall named people in Yorkshire/Lancashire.
