Surnames: ONeill, NEILL , Peacock

A few family members are trying to track our grandfather's side of tree and so far have drawn a blank. Edward O'Neill born about 1890 in the middlesborough area. Married Ethel May Peacock, born 1892 in Middlesbrough, (one of 13 children) married in Darlington in 1917. They had 17 children, lived at 9 Freeman's Place, Edward died in April 1942, and Ethel died in May 1966.
Edward was a basket maker, a craft that was learned from his father. His father, mother and him (and possibly siblings) traveled the countryside in a caravan selling baskets to farmers. This is a strong possibility why we carn't find anything out on Edward..

Mistakes can be made, even on marriage certificates, but Edward a Basket maker, who learned his trade from his father, and born around that time, this is a strong contender. What was Edward's address, on the marriage certificate, and was his father listed as deceased, or was he alive.

Thank you for the information, greatly appreciated.
At the time Edward got married both he and bride's address was listed as:- #5 Crabtree Yard in Darlington. His father's name is listed as Francis. The marriage certificate states that Edward was 25yrs old, a Pvt. 3rd Durham Infantry and a basket maker. The marriage took place on May 1st 1917. My brother Mal made the mistake, thanks again

Anything on Edward at all, we've been searching for years and couldn't find anything. My Brother lives in Bishop and I live in the U.S.A. Which makes my searching dificult, I know I could find things out from Darlington library, If I lived there. Edward and his wife Ethel had 17 children, so there's got to be something somewhere. I want to thank you for the info you uncovered, maybe I can go forward with your help, thanks.
