Does anyone have any information about the Cancilla family from Villarosa, Sicily, Italy? I have a Rose J. Cancilla born about 1892 who married a John Bifano. Rose and John, together with his siblings, moved to Pensylvania in about 1903.

I would appreciate any leads.

You say Rose J. Cancilla was born about 1892 and moved with her husband to Pennsylvania in 1903. Was she 11 and married at the time?

I have a little information on Rosa Cancilla's born in Trabia, Palermo, Sicily born between 1835 and 1858 (4 individuals)

I must be mistaken about Rose's arrival in the US. Rose J. Cancilla was born Oct 28, 1892 in Villarosa, Sicily and probably arrived in the US in 1903 with her family and not with her husband and his family. Thanks for catching that. I have Rose's parents as Pasquale and Josephine (Riggio) and siblings as: Joseph, Frank, John and Carmella. Does any of this match with information that you have?

I'm sorry I do not have any information that matches. I'm continuously updating my information on the Cancilla Clan, so feel free to repost your query at a later date if you make no progress.

I am researching Frank Bifano, my great-grandfather who came from somewhere in Calabria and was probably born in the 1870's or 1880's.

I also have Bifano, Cammarata, D'Angelo, Bellante, Bellezza, and Galioto relatives from Villa Rosa, but very little info. My aunts went there to research the family, but didn't have much luck. I think Villa Rosa has a website.

My great-grandfather, Fedele Bifano, born ~1882, came to Boston, MA in 1910 from Vilarosa, Sicily.

His parents were Gabriele Bifano and Sebastiana D'Angelo, who later followed him here to America.

Fedele had about 5 brothers and sisters (Arturo and Giuseppa both came to America - I'm still looking into his other siblings).

Fedele married a woman also from Vilarosa, who had arrived to Boston in 1904. Her name was Mary (or Maria more likely). They had 4 children: Gabriele (my grandfater), Josephine, Nelly (a nick name for something else), and Charlie (Calogero). Nelly Bifano is still alive in Boston, MA.
