I am have difficulty in locating the family, birth dates of Lula Kirby (Loggins) Alston, first name maybe Lucinda. We have family history birth date of 8 Jan 1858; however would like to verify. Any information would help, she was to be from Alabama, going to Texas in 1960's.

The Genealogy Library has a book entitled "The Alstons Allstons of North and South Carolina" that mentions Lula K. Loggins married George Washington Alston January 1876. He was born 6/24/1839 in Marengo Co. AL. There were no children listed nor was her birth date. There is also a Lydia Antoinette Alston b 11/15/1844 that married Dr. James C. Loggins 11/28/1866 with children Winifred Mae, John Morris Asenath Clements, Lee Alston, Patrick Henry and Bell Hood Loggins; and another Gilly Alston b.9/5/1847 Montgomery Co, TX married 1st Thomas Loggins 12/12/1868 and lists five children; Nathaniel Reuben, Mary Adella, Gilly Helena, Thomas and Elbin. Maybe this will help in your research. Hal at halferguson1@netzero.net

Thanks Hal,

I am aware of the "Alstons and Allstons of North and South Carolina" by Dr. Joseph Groves, a relative. This book is my bible in researching the Alston line. It does contain some errors, though. I will not go into that.

[Lula] Kirby Loggins b. abt 1858 Alabama, parents, Reuben Loggins and Mary Y Russell b. Illinois. Reuben was son of Reuben I and Susanna Emerson. I need any information on these families.

Reuben and Mary Y Russell migrated to Texas, where the lived and died in and around Grimes County. Reuben I Loggins remained in Alabama, the county, Tallacoosa (sp).

Thanks again for your help.
Don
